What is exactly pakrat? I've read about it, tried it but i dont see what does it do. People say it might help me. When i add a custom material from lets say RnL (HL2 mod), do i have to manually add the materials in a materials folder for people to see or i can somehow add it to the bsp with pakrat? and if so, how? Anyone has a tut? thanks. No one answered me on the megathread btw.
You use pakrat to add in custom stuff like mOdels, materials, custom sounds, etc You just have to tell pakrat where the custom materials are, and it will Pack the materials into the bsp. I haven't used it in a long time but it is pretty easy to use. There are also numerous tutorials out there for you to use.
Can you link me to these tuts you've been talking about? Also why sometimes i miss textures even though the mapper said he uses pakrat?
Can you link me to these tuts you've been talking about? As far as I know, when Pakrat automatically adds props, textures etc. to the BSP it doesn't add Valve games, only custom created objects. So if he used props from Half Life 2: Episode 2 and you don't have that game, you'll see missing props and/or invalid textures. Here's a tutorial on how to use it: http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=12601
Just go to open, click your bsp, then go find all your stuff manually, click yes to shortening their strings, and be sure you get all of them in one go. I find it doesnt like it when I try and add more later.
