• DPFilms looking for a mapper

Hello, mappers of Facepunch! It's Alex from Deviant Pictures Films (the team behind Defuse on the Fly, Two Evil Eyes, Protector and Sky Fortress). We are working on our ultra secret project and we are looking for a skilled mapper. We need a source mapper to create assets and maps based on our concepts for our TF2 film. It's mostly tedious work so need someone skilled and highly enthusiastic. What we need: • cinematic quality • indoor and outdoor mapping • victorian and medieval acrhitecture What you get: • your name in the titles (hurrah!) • some virtual cookies • possibly a Saxxy Award Shoot me a pm with your previous works if you are interested, or write here. Few concepts [t]http://cs628124.vk.me/v628124361/6245/2dAw6XPJvyA.jpg[/t] [t]https://psv4.vk.me/c609331/u14008604/docs/7040ffc47ee8/la_maison_14.jpg?extra=MVTPnJlxpXSf3f6pdQtV8HUBe25 v1TNrWXW1hQ2t8IEJ2pjOQU0mAFenqLmBhMjY041998qaO98iU o3gP2arITwBZAer[/t] [t]http://cs628124.vk.me/v628124105/4de8/BZANeZGuHfk.jpg[/t] Our previous projects
Is there... any sort of payment other than simple "exposure"? It's a lot that you're asking for to simply just slap a name on in the credits of one video.

The videos produced with these maps are bound to generate some money if not a lot. The mapper working on this should at least get something of higher value then a simple name in the credits.
Your looking for cinematic quality for nothing in return. That's not a feat that takes a couple days, that is a lot of hours of work your asking for.
It's mostly tedious work so need someone skilled and highly enthusiastic.
yeah uhm, good luck finding someone enthusiastic on doing all of this
• cinematic quality • indoor and outdoor mapping • victorian and medieval acrhitecture
for nothing but a mention on the "credits", something almost nobody even looks at. [sp2]And i bet you'll just use it to make some edgy 5 minutes short featuring the FemScout™ as fucking Jeanne d'Arc[/sp2]
for something of this scale you're prolly gonna need some more compensation that a few lines of text in the credits and possibly a saxxy
I hope you read through this post. I'm not being a shit-head here, I just want to bring up a few points.
It's mostly tedious work so need someone skilled and highly enthusiastic.
[thumb]http://cs628124.vk.me/v628124105/4de8/BZANeZGuHfk.jpg[/thumb] In other engines, this image would be much easier to replicate, and is definitely not "tedious work". If that building is to have an interior, we're looking a days and days of work(in hours). Not every mapper is a modeler, and not every modeler is a mapper. Both of which are needed based on what I see in this image. Not to mention this mapper will likely feel like a third wheel, and never feel like part of the team, thus any enthusiasm they would have going into the project will quickly run out. Will the mapper be part of your team if the job is well done? What if nothing comes out of it but a finished product? Are the deadlines fair? On top of that, since the map is going to be purposed for SFM specifically, they can't even recycle the map for use in multiplayer without scrapping it and starting over again. This is a high-risk(in terms of time), little reward job. I hope you do get your mapper, but I genuinely hope you take this post into consideration. I would be the type of person to do it, but I'm currently working on something else, and I'm at least a year away from being able to tackle a project like this. That said, I love your work, and the best of luck to you!
