as the title says.... how can i make my islands look nice ??
i'm planning on making a map with Water and some islands around.... but i need help with the islands...
Use carve. Quick and easy!
Jokes.
Make a base brush for the ocean/river floor. Next create a "hill" the size of the island, that will be your island.
After you have done that, smooth the top bit out. Start placing your buildings/shacks.
After you have done that polish it up with props, don't forget a skybox, and use smooth
displacements for the ocean floor, choose a suitable texture such as sand, with bits of gravel.

Just use displacements. You can either use subdivide and different levels of height and so if you want a sort of cliffy island, like this.

Or you could just use a smooth sheet of displacements and raise parts of it up to get tropical type of island, like this.

Although that last image doesn't really show much, but at least you can see the sea level and the low res sand.
