Great guide, will explain everything you need to know. I know I'm being lazy but there's a lot to optimizing.
Oh and I've found in the past by using model textures as normal textures tends to extend compile time quite a bit, but that might of been just coincidence. Another little tip is if you're thinking an area is lacking in light and the current light won't do and you've added more, then just keep the original light and increase the brightness (the 'Brightness' property has by default 200 at the end, maximum 255) and inner brightness (in terms of light_spot). My theory is the inner/outer brightness in light_spot is for blending the light around the edges so it won't be so sharp.
