Source SDK 1. (The older one in Tools) Textless and, whenever I click on where Hammer would be, it comes up with three buttons. Button 1. Loads a Hammer Error that says; "Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'e\program files\steam\steamapps\mariowill\counter-strike source\cstrike'. Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting", Button 2. closes the window, or Button 3. opens up Internet Explorer, which promptly crashes. Source SDK 2. (The newer one in Software/with Source Filmmaker) Doesn't load at all, aside from a split second qsdklauncher.exe in Task Manager's Processes tab. [SUB][SUB][SUB][SUB]I'm posting here because Source SDK is what loads Hammer, and the Hammer problems are usually threads. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.[/SUB][/SUB][/SUB][/SUB]
Have you tried reinstalling?
[QUOTE=TCB;38318800]Have you tried reinstalling?[/QUOTE] Tried that with SFM, as it may contain the new SDK, but it doesn't fix it. Going to try reinstalling the old SDK. [SUB][B]Edited;[/B][/SUB] Doesn't work.
About the second problem - SFM SDK - you're screwed. No one has any idea what so ever about how to fix this. Not only this, but i've also tried several ways to make it work with no succes. Here's the list of things which won't work (so you can save your time and nerves) 1. Reinstalling SFM after uninstaling it in steam and deleting manually SFM folder - DIDN'T WORK 2. Reinstalling Steam with backed up apps - DIDN'T WORK 3. Uninstalling Steam and deleting whole content including owned games and sdk packages and installing everything from scratch on different drive - DIDN'T WORK (yeah, i downloaded 30 GBs od data again just to check if it will bring any results...) 4. Reinstalling required apps such as Visual C++, .NET framework, updating drivers etc - DIDN'T WORK 5. Removing registry entries related to SFM - DIDN'T WORK 6. Creating new account to use SFM - DIND'T WORK 7. Disabling Firewall, giving full control in registry to Valve branch - DIDN'T WORK 8. Reseting the settings inside SFM help submenu, as SDK launcher propably uses them somehow after nightmarish update - DIND'T WORK 9. Correcting enviroment variables in the system settings to proper ones - DIDN'T WORK Most propably no one will be able to help with this (every topic i found through google doesn't have solution or reply for about a week, including my request in tech support thread), so the only way to fix SFM SDK launcher so far will be.... reinstalling the system. I know it @#$ing sucks, but i ran out of ideas and no one seems to want to help people with this issue. Resetting settings , refreshing content and if this wont help reinstalling and then reseting and refreshing from the menu with veryfing the cache will fix standard old Source SDK though
Deleted the clientregistry.blob from your steam\ root directory?
Oh forgot about that, tried it too, doesn't work either. But it may be put under point 2 or 3 (absolutely definetly removing steam from computer with all assigned apps and installing on clear state). Its definetly some kind of system setting brought with SFM SDK update, however i really can't figure out what it is and where it is.... EDIT: From what i understand after doing all the points mentioned above it has to be some SDK or SFM setting, which is hidden somewhere deeply and has to be edited. If we only knew, what exactly was "Improved SDK Launcher" brought with update it would be way easier, but cryptic description without any detailed information only lead us to nothing. And I seriously doubt Steam Support would be able to do anything either if its system related. I'll try to reinstall Windows soon i see what happens then. Maybe SFM SDK Launcher is just broken in itself. Or went sentient after update and doesn't like some users. ;P
[QUOTE=vehtam_osrp;38340596]Or went sentient after update and doesn't like some users. ;P[/QUOTE] You mean, like Windows XP users?
Is it reported its happening only to XP users? WHat system are you on VGDCMario?
Use my set up tutorial. It works for multiple people. [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRWrQajcU0U[/url] Follow it step by step and yours will work too. I had your exact same issue, and I still use this configuration. If that doesn't work, your "Episode 2" configuration should work.
but its when you actually can see SDK window. The issue here is SFM SDK Launcher doesn't launch anything, null, it just doesn't start at all. Source SDK and configurations there are completely fine and running smooth..
Oh, my mistake. I just read the error not the thing about the buttons being messed up. I had an issue with my steam VGUI using coded buttons once but I fixed it by completely reinstalling Steam, but you don't want to do that unless you have great internet.
Unfortunately i tried several ways i already mentioned above, including total deletion of steam and all apps and downloading them again :P Also reisntalled whole windows system. Without results. "Improved SDK Launcher", what an udpate! :/ Is there anybody with Windows XP who has installed steam on drive different to C;\ and to whom SDK is launching without any problems? Please, if you have those specifications just try to run it and post here result, please! I heard now SDK launcher has hardcoded hammer and launcher to the C;\ drive and i must verify is it true... So i can send bug report back to SFM bug fixing team...

[QUOTE=IronPhoenix;38383527]Why not just change the path in the game info to the correct drive? It's how i had to fix l4d.[/QUOTE] You mean by using "-game" command in launch options? Tried that to, didn't worked..
My friend is using windows XP and getting the same errors. [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] It's probably because they broke SFM for XP.
