third update: ttt_lostcoastcity_v3 This is a Map for Trouble in Terrorist Town mod for Garry's Mod that is for Half-Life 2 that is for Source SDK that is for Gabe Newell and his money. Fixes: Added a bit better optimization Fixed all lightings include ambient and sun lights Fixed sun Fixed light_environment and shadows Fixed HDR, it is still on though Fixed some static_props and physics_props Added some BSP Made even better sky and water Fixed some of player Spawns Fixed Skybox and made one building on fire, added a dam and Spectator's prop race on it with rotating stuff Added fog Added HDR CubeMaps, cool reflections ( eight cubemaps with 256x256p. resolutions) Fixed some weapons Added 4 flying birds around the city Added 11 traitor buttons (this map was for Deathrun firstly, but it became TTT) Fixed Player's model Fixed Coast Added some of static props (like fences etc.) Edited many of walls and fixed textures.. Hmm I think I didnt notice all the updates.. But it has almost no bugs. By me (jarro/everybody) Put at 'garrysmod/maps' Thanks for downloading ! Looks alright OP, few things such as the walls being paper thin, little blocky here and there, such as the tunnel. Also the brick texture on the curved wall doesn't look right. I imagine it works though so that's all that matters I assume.
Thanks, first public map cant be ideal I know.. But what is up with brick texture and paper-walls ? I thought that curved oval building under the roof looks as usual building.. (except the fact that it is curved oval building under the roof :rolleyes:) If you are about white stripes under the windows then I understood
By paper-thin walls, I meant your walls indoors are only a few units thick as opposed to the general 16 or 32 some people go for, also, it may be just me but on the walls which are rounded the brick texture just looks odd. Also, you need small details like skirting boards around the rooms, better ceiling textures, better lighting wouldn't go a miss as well.
Well that is a building with 2 floors so walls indoors in the buildings like these can be not very big :D Walls outdoors is much bigger, test the map by yourself.. And also I didnt photo that but some of rooms have much of random BSP destruction and rubbish :(

Make them thicker :v:

Disconnect: ERROR! Reliable snaphsot overflow.. Always happens when I try to run it.
A friend of mine was trying to host it for us to test it out (before adding it to the server we normally play on) and he kept getting reliable snapshot overflows. Seems as if it's related to your map as he can host any other map without any issues. edit: See above post, HarryHy is the friend I was referring to. I also tried hosting this map and am having the same issue. Also, you really need to work on the lighting/shadows, a large portion of the map is pitch black.
Well, the shadows was one of the main ideas of the map, but I'm agree that they are placed a bit strange.. I dont know about this stupid error... I read some threads about it and I should to say that it is not my map, your servers or TTT gamemode only.. Make your walls 8 Hammer units thick, that is a realistic size. The background in the first image looks very odd, and the wall on the right has a weird displacement on the side.
If you are about first screen then I'll say that these arent displacements, these are static meshes. I didnt understand what is wrong with background on the first screen ? Big river, coast and crane with red light. Well try the map yourself (and say will you have this stupid error)
Well can somebody download it and say if he gets this error ?! Also please launch TTT if you has it and write in the console "thirdperson" because it seems that I chose a bit wrong player's model at Hammer without animations. (i'm sorry very much I wont have an access to TTT gamemode for week)

I think it looks pretty good overall, though it does need some work.
Thanks SSBMX Okay I'm making the last (I hope :quagmire: ) version. What I will perform: -Fog -Reediting textures on some walls etc. (because of the third screen) -Rechecking static props (because of the first screen) -Reediting the coast -Making Less shadows -Making more Traitor's buttons (currently there is one but I'll add at least 5) -Adding moar detalization. What else ?! Thank you all for good 'comments' and 'suggestions'.

are you about a crane ? :) ... Also can anybody help ?! I cant construct ambient lighting on my map ! Handmade lighting is working cool, but light_environment emits only sun light :( I have no errors about VVis or RAD so I'm confused. Tried with/without HDR. Result is the same
Yes, the crane doesn't match the background due to the levels of detail and structure. light_environment is only for sun light.
khm why is there Ambient options here ? I saw that everyone uses it for ambient too. What is the light that can be used as ambient then ? I placed handmaded light at the centres of every skybox surface
Ambient is the colour of the shadow that is left. People commonly use the darkest part of the skybox texture for the ambient colour. For ambience, use fancy entities such as point_spotlight and env_fog_controller. HDR also works nicely, too. Light entities at the center of the skybox won't help.
I mean that I placed light entities in XY/XZ centers of every of skybox surfaces (x5 lights) and will func_precipitation work in GM ?
Yes, and in case you didn't know, to have denser rain/snow/whatever, make the brush twice.
