Having freed up some time, I have been able to retake up this project, and hopefully finish it very soon. I am going to limit the screenshots a little here as I am to lazy to take them and upload them.
This is the most recent screenshots of the map. Lighting has since then been fixed up and a few changes made. I will post screenshots of the next compile.
Feedback is welcome. I am also going to release a model of the Aurora Doors. I am, at the moment, trying to guess what the weight of the doors should be. At the moment I have them set to 6Kg (Very light, I know, I am yet to chose a correct weight)
This map will still go by the name of gm_aurora. But for now I am going to call it gm_aurora2 to avoid confusion.
The lighting is poop. But the architecture definitely looks cool.
As I said, lighting has been fixed. But you could also imply where it is "poop" and why it is "poop".

The shadows look like they've been compiled on lightmap grid level 18, and the lights look like they have no source at all. (Place some obvious parts that look like they would emit light.)
Le Edit:
Just noticed the light sources now, but they're a bit funny. They don't glow at all and they are white. Last I checked, white objects do not emit blue light.
The objects themselves are light blue, and the light, also being light blue, makes it look white. I don't really know how to fix this though. Could you reccomend anything that could stop this? At the moment I am using normal lights, but light_spots don't work the way I want them too.
Help is appreaciated. And thanks for the feedback.
hey cool, glad to see your continuing with this :D
can't wait to see the final thing.
...Me neither...
:v:
Neither!
Me thinks you should give me a beta :v:
Me thinks you should get off the drugs, druggie... :drug:
Me thinks that if this one will be finished then I will ask for an RP version :P
Me thinks I´m making a planet for ya, :D

Me thinks Facepunch has bad grammar.
Me also thinks no.
Me is very sad :(
Any hope for a simple version in space, without any story stuff like a crash or a planet?
Me thinks I´m making a planet for ya, :D
Its methinks
:(
Interesting architecture. Looks pretty damn basic though.
And its great fun. Me and Meeces had some fun times getting lost in the first version of that map. Making teleporters, control rooms etc. And being basic is a PLUS! It means that you can actually make the map your own. There is space to place that ship dock thingamadoodad, or that asguard transporter.
Oh and Hayden, i don't, i was just being a dick :P
By the way, what happened with the old Aurora?
Unoptemized. Shit. Crap. Fucked up. Many other words for it, I just cannot be bothered going through them all.

I have had this conversation with you many times. How would I make it in space? And what would be the point?

Architecture is from the Aurora from Stargate: Atlantis. Not my idea. I am just making a map. But thanks anyway though.
Basic is what I am kind of aiming for. All I am doing is making many different hallways, each leading to different parts of the ship. As MGinshe said, he and Meeces got lost numerous times in this map. It will also contain different rooms around the ship, each being unique. (Such as a small control room, etc., see old gm_aurora thread for older pictures)
is it the aurora out of SGA?
Yes.

This is what I was aiming for. Glad to see people are actually using it for what it is meant for, as well as have fun.
Also, being a dick? I don't understand. Did you mistype drug again...? :v:
Another thing: What the hell is a thingamadoodad? And you wonder why I actually think you are on drugs...
Me thinks...but not very often. :downs:
Me thinks...but not very often. :downs:
Please stop this guys. (Although it was funny :v:)
Hehe okay. Also, on your pictures, is the bottom left glass face on the pillary thingies meant to be the only glowing part, or that whole brush?

Well, mainly the whole model. But that is the only "main" lighting part of it, the rest is just for decoration...
Hmm, okay. Well for the crystals in my Na Pali map, I used a custom texture with $selfillum. You may find it useful. :P

Although, it only really looks good with HDR or bloom enabled. :frown:
Settings I used:
"$selfillum" "1"
"$selfillumtint" "[1 1.5 2]"
It looks different depending on the lighting you use around it, so in one of the caves on my map they are a deep blue, and the monolith in this picture is a paler colour.
PS: the texture is pretty much pure white
That is applying the texture to a brush though, not a model. Is there any way I could add this to a model somehow? While to only being in certain sections?
It should work with putting it on a model, I'm guessing all the lighter parts of the pillars are the same texture? :P
Uhhhh, no...? :saddowns:
Try adding it to it all, apart from the kindof framework of the pillar and see how it looks :v:

The point would be: RP. Serious RP, DM RP, crap RP, any RP, and maybe SpaceBuild too. But it would need at least 3-4 planets.
Yes, in space, with a skybox stars on it, with unused space, where people can fight, and it even could serve as a map for your machinima (a lost ancient vessel, the crew died, and the team has to find out what happened.)
Yea, we had this conversation many times. But you never gave me a good answer ("Yea, I will make one!")
