I have a question. I never fully understood why people wrap certain props in a skip block with one texture side scaled to 1. Also why do people resize the skip and hint textures?

It still funtions excactly the same ingame, but in the editor it makes it easier to navigate without having the words "hint" and "skip" slapped in your face all the time. (If you havent disabled the hint and skip visgroups, that is) Atleast thats what im doing, that might not be the real reason.

That makes no difference whatsoever as far as I'm aware.

I read that the reason you put a skip over certain props is cause it has something to do with prefabs.
sorry but i have another question.
I like to make my maps as optimized as possible, I'm sure others do as well.
Just wanted to know how to get area portals to fade to black when you get a certain distance from it.
I tried area portal windows but depending on the side I'm on it looks like the map is leaking, I'm probably using them wrong.
