Okay, I will say this right off the bat, I am no programmer. I wouldn't know where to start, nor even what to do with it once I started. This thread is a question I have been pondering for a few days, and I am just looking at it as a confirmation thread. IE, is this easy, difficult or darn near impossible.
What I am planning is to have a single ship interior set off inside a planet somewhere in the map space, with the outside of said ship capable of floating around in the map space itself. Is it possible to hook up the interior of the ship with the minature exterior and have them work as one? Turrets coupled with gunnery chairs, pilot seat coupled with the movement controls of the miniature, etc. etc.
Also, I know its possible to hook up cameras with textures to get a real time display, but is it possible to do that with TV screens on the bridge of said ship interior?
Now, those are my questions, and I am not looking for someone to do it, I just want to know its difficulty level. I know what I ask is fairly complex, I'll make no bones about that. I'm asking this since I am looking to start a short video series featuring some of my own models and maps, and Garrys Mod seems to be among the easiest manners in which to make my ideas come to life.
Your first question makes no sense. In fact, none of your questions make any sense. You can link cameras with TV screen textures, yes. The interior/exterior thing doesn't make any sense at all, unless you want the interior hidden somewhere else like how houses work in GTA:SA. You can use teleports for that, if that's what you mean.
Yes, thats exactly what I mean. I suppose what I am asking is, is it possible to attach use points to remote turrets on a moving miniature in the map itself. Have a 1/1 scale interior and a 1/16 scale ship exterior that has turrets and such mounted on the outside for the use points to control.
I suppose I am asking if its possible to make remote control chairs to a vehicle in the map itself to control parts on said vehicle.

Hahahaha... No, You will find source to be extremely annoying.
Don't fret though, because source mapping is really fun once you get it.
Mapping for source is hard to learn, easy to make stuff when you have learned, and hard to master.
More than anything, it's just time consuming, but if you want to commit, then go for it.
3kilksphillip has some good beginner tutorials. (he has some bad habits though)

1. Yes. You would build a "cockpit" with all the controls you need in a game_ui. The model would have the thrusters set up so you would be able to take control of the various sections at will.
2. The issue here is that you can only have a single rt monitor active at any time.
Hammer is fairly easy to learn, but you will come across issues that mean you either can't do what you want to do, or you might need to use hacky workarounds.
Also, do not use 3kliks. Firegod, sphinxa and i have mapping tutorials, all of which are far better than what 3kliks teaches.

Also, for a beginner, i reccomend lord neds starter tutorials.

You're not helping him at all Stiffy. He didn't say he wanted tutorials for beginners, he wanted to know how to set up this system.
To cut an argument short, I did ask if it was possible and now that I know that there are limitations, and that it is possible, I can take a look at these tutorials and get started. So thank you all for your help.

Only one RT moniter... Hmmm... Could that possible be used for multiple geometry pieces? Like say if I have a window on the exterior and a window in the bridge, that it'd take whats on the model and transfer that to the window on the bridge to complete the illusion that yes, its there?

Yes.
So any number of geometric shapes could be attached to one particular RT moniter? So I could have multiple moniters arranged around a bridge that showed the same thing, like a bunch of TVs showing the same show?

Yes.
And you can change the camera that is shown, but you can only have one active at any time.
Ahhh. Very cool. That'll be perfect I think. :D Can the camera be done with a fisheye lense?

You can put effects on the camera, and i think there is a fish eye one, but i cannot remember how.
