I know this is probably one of the dumbest questions on here, if not the most, because I think it's something completely obvious that I'm just missing.
I have an .obj model of Pipe Plaza from Mario Kart: Double Dash, and I want to get this into source as a map. Is there any way to convert an .obj (or at least some other commonly used format like .3ds) into a .vmf for editing in hammer/compiling?
I've tried:
-The Google Sketchup VMF exporter and Obj importer, all this did was make a completely blank VMF (there weren't errors, and I did read the valve wiki aswell)
-Converting to a quake 1 .map using blender then loading it in hammer (this makes blender crash)
-Googling this question, the entire google search is full of purple links (none of them really helped)
Seems that VMF exporter treats the whole model as single brush.

Google sketch up plugin to vmf works, you just need to screw around with a few things first.

I recommend blocking what you can out, then export the rest as a model.

BlockArray< ?, 6, 86 > - too many blocks needed.
It exports fine and I've been trying to delete random things that might make a difference but nothing's helped. It exported with errors, but after I deleted the skybox and some useless parts those are gone. Hammer just won't load it.
This may be a little off topic, but if you want pipe plaza, you can get a copy via Mario Kart Source...
