Hi all, so - I've been deving a map. And the compiler would take me no more than 11 Minutes, now. All of a sudden, its taking forever. Even if load older versions of the map that compiled quickly. I can't figure out why, up until this point hammer has been behaving. I'd get you a compile log, but it never finishes. Any input would be great.
You can still get the log from the same folder that your vmf is located. It doesn't have to be fully compiled to open it

Oh, had I of known that. I would of seen the leak. Still does not explain why its not compiling. The leak is not in every file.

So a prop is being leaked, but when going to the coords, there is no prop?
In hammer on the top toolbar click on Map then Loadpointfile, there will be a red line in your map showing the leak

Nothing looks wrong, try saving as a new file with a different name and do a fast compile.
You could of just added some complex brushes and the compile time is longer.

That is the thing, it happens on older versions of the map that compiled fine.
What is different between the the old version and the bad one? The difference is causing the problem
are you making your level with snap to grid on if your not and your brushes are not on grid when save hammer will move to vertices when opening and closing the level, also try using compilepal or htct so the compiling doesn't to much resource to lockup your pc
My point is, even older versions of the map that have compiled don't compile. And Taz0, I've never used Compilepal. I'll go get it.
Are you using a different compile setting? Like using the normal settings instead of the fast ones
Okay, Taz0 you got some explaining to do. Compile pal works wonders. I'm not sure how or why, but now the map is running at 60-80? Like what, also - the Church in my map was off the grid. Thanks a ton guys!

Try experimenting with some added geometry onto the building. Like parts that jut out n stuff.
use a point_spotlight with the street lighting to create a pool of light under neath them and add some traffic lights to the road junctions
