A top down / 3d-isometric / RTS style game where contestants are generated using data from random facepunch profiles / profile pictures. All your favorite posters and people you've never seen running around slaughtering each other while screaming sentences from random posts. Team with units still standing at the end wins.
Two player setup where each player (or AI) is the team boss for a customizatiable gladiatorial-like team.
Before the match starts each player has X time (probably a minute or less) to setup their team comp within a budget of some sort (with an unlimited mode for joke fights) in secret.
Bosses can give groups of facepuncher gladiators rough directions like "move towards THIS point" or "Focus on these units" or "Protect this/these units" after the team comps are made or during combat.
Bosses MUST use at least X% (probably 50-75%) of the budget before the round can begin. Leftover budget can be used mid match to spawn additional units at increased cost.
Fight specifics:
All* units are controlled by rudimentary AI who are given the team boss' directions as a rough influence.
*Bosses can set if they want the option for random players to be able to join and take control over certain units (imagine them becoming the unit in either a third or first person view).
Maybe AI units have better stats (for balance) but player ones (obviously by nature of not being a robot) can make better decisions about how to fight (At the cost of potentially being a liability due to players occasionally being an ass for giggles)?
Unit specifics:
Grunts / peasants: Generated from blue users. Most basic unit. Cheap to spam but can't do much against anything bigger without numbers on their side.
Healers / Buff units: Generated from people who have donated to the community fund. Boosts nearby unit's stats in a small AOE. Little or no attack. Weak. More expensive than grunts. Can kill JBMods. Ranged?
Banned Users: Weird monkey like red and black painted unit with average to medicore stats that splits into two alt accounts on death (aka spawns two grunts). Much more expensive than grunts. Generated from banned users, duh. Name is generated, face is just the "BANNED USER" profile pic.
Gold Knights: Expensive grunts basically that have much more armor and attack. Really tall for some reason. Slow?
Mecha-Mods: Generated from moderators. Big hulking massively expensive units with short range short duration ban lasers that fire in a lasting beam (imagine a light-saber looking thing) which have insane dps capable of vaporizing lines of weak units like Grunts. Good for crowd control. "Sleeps" after each burst for a few seconds and cannot move or attack during that time. Can fall victim to the hoards without backup / friendly forces.
God-Emperor Garry: Budget Obliterating god-esque unit that exclusively generates from Garry's current profile on facepunch. Massive health, spews out square projectiles which each look like one of the logos from a facepunch produced game / service / etc. Will occasionally send out AOE effect that can revive dead friendly units.
JBMod: Mist/Vapor like unit (psst: think vaporware) with low health that can't be killed by any unit except Healers. Will only attack God-Emperor Garrys. Doesn't count as a live unit and will die if a God-Emperor Garry can't be found. Only slightly more expensive than Grunts.
TL:DR: Imagine Gorn + Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator + RTS + Facepunch. Ran out of time to develop this idea further. Not 100% sure how the units would be generated exactly but their profile picture has to be plastered on somehow and their name floating above their head (with small subtext of their unit) when hovered over.
To see if its a good idea we should play a few rounds using card/paper proxies.
We need to figure out point values, are we talking about like 1pt per unit for simplicity or like 10pts per unit which lets us have more granular pricing for easier balancing? etc
Maybe it could be a "deck" based game, where all "cards" have pros and cons and we have to collect the cards through booster packs which are purchased through coins?
