I've been working on a big open sandbox map for Garry's Mod and the lighting in the spawn area rooms have gone all 'glitchy'. It was working fine till today. I added some decals around the map and now when I compile the glitch happens. I am unsure on whether they are the cause or not.

What compile settings are you using?
Also please post compile log.
Just compile with -final should do the trick.
How do I? I cant find it in the compile settings
Well if compile takes too long (i suppose you wait on PortalFlow ;p) then you should get some knowledge about optimization.
When map is constructed correctly then VRAD (light compiler) takes much longer time to compile then VVIS.
If you want to use final compile you need to switch to advanced mode.

23732 numportals is ridiculous number. You need more optimization for VVIS to work properly.
