• EAC False Positives

Since Australia Hapis is down, I tried US West Hapis tonight. Fresh, naked, etc. My first three hours there went roughly like this: Collect hemp and get a bag down. Get killed. Make a tiny bit of progress. Repeat steps 2 and 3 about 15 times. I shot at one and only one person (returning fire with a bow) the whole night, and like all the rest, he killed me. I run a straight-up Steam install... Not even sure what cheats people use, though I assume there are auto targeting bots out there. Anyway, suddenly (shortly after loading in after getting killed, and opening a chest in my base) a message comes up saying "EAC Violation" and I'm booted. So I google it and find it's a cheat accusation. I figured it was a glitch, so I quit and re-logged... Nope. Repeated attempts all get blocked with one of two EAC messages... Either EAC Violation, or something to do with EAC time out. After a bit of PITA, googling and trying things, I reboot, have steam validate all the files, and log in. This time it lets me in. Bugs in game are one thing, but bugs that create false positives resulting in accusations of cheating, and booting people from the game... Those should be a top priority. Especially coming out of alpha next week. Crikey... Everything in the game wants to murder and abuse you. But the servers running it shouldn't.
EAC is third party. You'll need to go to EAC if you want to fight this.
This might help. Next time it happens, go to Rust in your steam library, right click > properties, open the install folder and find the "EasyAntiCheat" folder. Run the .exe in it, and click "repair" (make sure Rust is selected). Hit finish, launch Rust and the problem should be gone.
Great tip! I am going to do this when I get home just to make sure all my shit is updated
