Personally while I find that Rust is a game best played online there are many who want to play the game but who don't have a reliable internet connection and I find that with the new addition of hostile humanoid NPC's that a solo or offline mode would still be entertaining to many and it would open the doors to even more players/potential buyers.
just a quick search on youtube brought up quite a few videos on how to play offline.
try checking that out.
