• Would you play on a server, where you can loot crypto-coins?

I am trying to see if there is interest in a mod like this before I continue development. Feedback is much appreciated! It would work by paying with crypto-coins in order to spawn on the server, these coins would be a stack-able item in your inventory. When you die, you drop them, other players can loot them. You can also loot these coins from the environment. If you collect enough coins, you can convert them to Bitcoin, or use them to spawn on other more expensive servers. This will create true competitive game-play servers. Where players or teams can become professionals. This is just a brief overview of the system I have designed, keeping it light to keep the retention higher. Thanks!

besides that it sounds like pay to play or pay to win, or is it just so you don't have to pay to play on server and you get a start ammount of coins?
I've considered the ethics of a mod like this, before I even posted, but its good you brought it up, so that I can share my thoughts. spawn fee is a set amount for each server, so you do not wage anything. You do not choose how much you want to pay, it is an entrance fee. It is far from gambling in that respect. There is no way to risk losing everything, or anything more than 10 cents per spawn. Currently you can earn money in game through skins, on a steam exchange market, this is almost identical, except your game-play affects the outcome more, with coins instead of skins.
I understand what you mean, but just know, that copyright is not a thing in the plugin world. If you only make it so it's an entrance fee and you can redeem currency from the server playing it, there is not a big problem in my eyes as long your not able to add more to your ingame bank account to buy items in game. The problem is with the currency on the server, where does it come from, and where will it go? will there be a possibility to add more currency for a player, and who ensures that if you say no to this, the plugin community won't make it's own version if they don't like where you are going with it. Then there are also some psychological reasons for my way of thinking: There are also 8yo kids playing this game, who ensures that they won't take moms creditcard to play on it, or are you one of them that just takes the money and blames the parrents for making it easy to use their creditcard? How do you think people will react if the game was driven on "making real money playing game (and destroying others)" I think combined with the question above, it will be verry toxic, I'm sorry. Thats why I think that "gambling aspects" and "ingame purchases" is just evil and should be kept away from games (not just servers) that does not have the 18+ restriction of age.
Thanks for the feedback! I will address your points in the same order: The only thing you could purchase in game with the coin is a spawn, nothing else. So there is no pay to win going on. The coin will exist on a block-chain, just like Bitcoin, and will be exchanged for Bitcoin or another currency on exchanges. No one is in control of it, it is decentralized. Players can not create this currency, only trade it. Anyone is free to make their own version. 8 year old's can continue to play on the regular (free) servers, even though the game is 18+. No one is forced to play on these servers. Also, I am sure 8 year old's wont be able to afford or care to play on these servers. These servers are for players who want serious competition, or want to provide serious competition and get paid for it (they are providing a service). The game already has the age restriction and there is no way to make in game purchases with these coins.
After much self and group debate on the issue of ethics and viability, I have decided to go ahead and build out the system. If anyone would like to be involved, and get early access to the coins for any contributions, please feel free to post here.
On servers full of cheaters they will collect everything. First you need to control the problem that the server is down for 12 hours and remove the cheaters, and then do it.
In the design I have community anti cheat/rule breaking features. Rule Breaking and Hacking If a player suspects another player of rule-breaking or hacking, they can report the death or incident. The player must pay coins (A bounty) for submitting a report with a minimum cost. The player can increase the bounty, to increase the priority of the investigation. When a report is filed, the server saves out the game data ~5 minutes prior to the kill/death or incident. The report is submitted to an online investigation web application. Users that will be voting (Investigators) if the accused broke rules, will recieve coins if they were accurate with their decision. This will eventually be used to train AI that will augment the investigation process. A set amount of votes must be made e.g. 100 votes from the community of investigators before a decision is made. If more then 75% of the votes were guilty, the perps wallet/account is banned, and any coins they had will be used to return what was taken from the victim, then to pay out all or part of the investigation, then the remainder air dropped into the game at various times.
