hello rust community and face punch.
i recently played on a server that had an issue with layers using /sil to upload porn (some of it illegal). I reported the possibly illegal porn to the FBI. I informed the server admins, they would not do anything about it as they have a non-interference policy on the server. Player policed server they say. I am curious as to who is responsible for this kind of occurrence.
I understand that rust is an R rated game. But at least 30-50% of server pop is under the age of 18. I am confused as to whose responsible for policing the game player age limit?
i apologise if this info has been answered already in a previous post. Someone has suggested I send the information to a Republican member of congress. But that seems extreme. Any advice would be most appreciated.
Screenshot it and send it to the authorities along with the player's name, profile and SteamID is my suggestion. Remember to delete the screenshots afterward, as technically you'd be in possession of this illegal porn.
Using /sil means the server is modded. So the admins should really do something if they care.
Also with /sil it means the image must exist on the internet somewhere already, they are not uploading it, they are linking it.
If I was the admin on this server I would make an example out of these people.
I suggest you find a server where admins wouldn't allow that
illegal things on servers are always the responsibility of the server owner / admin.
If 2 childish players on my server are trying to destroy eachother personal, me as admin kknows about it and one of them hangs himself IRL, the police will nock my door because I did not stepped in where I needed to.
Same as a website or store, your providing a public place where people come, and you are in charge to fight things that aren't right.
Long story short: report child-porn, try to get IP's of the ones knowing about this and accepting it, report them to THEIR local authorities, And just search for a server where the owners actual care about their server and players.
Situations like this are the reason I only make it possible for players to use sil when they pay me monthly, so I have their bank account number and personal info when something go's wrong ;) This because I also don't want to interfear too much with players and playing police all day on them.
Get your point but bad example. Mainstream server have so many toxic player, if any threat would be taken seriously then the admis had no time to do anything else.
the fact is when you as admin allow beef, en they get personal and one of their lives end because they cant handle it, you as admin are still responsible for it, if you like it or not.
Admins that do nothing just play with nukes, they OR end up with a highly toxic server, AN empty server or just a lawsuit because things where getting to personal IRL.
Altho it's a game, and this community is toxic AF, this will not say you can allow anything and you can not say that things that you can not do or say in real livfe can be done in game because it's just a game.
Point I try to make: evryone begins to say and think that because this is a game, things like nazui shit, toxicness and (child) porn will be accepted of it because "we nead to blow off some steam in games sometimes" and letting daily morals and rules in life vanish because this is a game.
Fact is that if someone is in a place thats that toxic without anyone forcing some rules to keep things acceptable for everyone, the mind of the players won't get limited, and toxicness will take over their way of thinking even more.
It's the same situation with friends that has bad friends and influence in life because of that. We can accept that because their friends are all dealing drugs he can also do it, but that will only give him and you problems.
Long story short: admins should take more action towards this, otherwise things will only gets worse, we all see that happening for 3-4 years playing rust!
Sure inactive admins can lead to a dead server, but its hard to belive that a fucking lawsuit can follow. If you talk like that you sure have some sources or example proof of when it happened to an admin.
The parents are responsible for what you buy or what you look at or what you do when you are under 18.
The server owner are responsible for what they have on the server.
