Why does the Radiation Suit provide 30% bullet protection?

I had no idea that rubber was as good at protecting bodies as crude metal armor fashioned from roadsigns or coffee cans.
Not complaining, though. Just wondering.
it was nerfed from 35% a few months back, tbh its in a good place if you find one it gives you a free kit right at the start of the game with a bow its a great piece of gear for snowballing early or even just having no kits you take it out you still have a fair chance or if your being raided and you need to gear up quickly rad suit has saved me a fair few times being high protection I like where its at right now even tho its unrealistic.
Thank you both for pointing this out.
Can I bump this? It seems a bit silly.
A I mentioned in a similar thread, that 30% protection comes at the cost of not being able to use any other armor while wearing the rad suit. Odds are that it's so "high" so that you have a slight chance of getting away if you get shot at while in a high radiation area.
As for an in universe explanation: try not to think about it.
The thing is it doesn't matter if you can't wear anything else. It protect 30% for EACH body part, plus you can wear it with the chopper out. It's way over powered for one piece of clothing if you ask me.
