The Ancient World Minecraft Server - The Age of Nations has begun!

The Ancient World is a long running Minecraft world created during the Infdev phase of Minecraft development. For a while it was my single player map, but then became part of a private server populated by a dozen like-minded players who prefer the hardcore features of survival like hunger, and having to build shelter to escape monsters. Now it is an active public server based around the Factions system.

Unlike other servers, time in the Ancient world progresses through different ages. Each age has had different themes and events happen to earn its title. A brief description of each; The age of the Ancients was the time when the first inhabitants of the world used to live (this was over a year ago). The age of the gods is when religion and worship was a huge part of the gameplay in the server (we had players who roleplayed gods, granted wishes, and players built shrines to their favorite god). The age of the Rift was the period where demons from the Nether entered the realm and destroyed cities and civilizations (yes, we really did have rift events during this time. Images below)

After months of battling the Rifts, the evil finally retreated to the depths. A long period of time without a common enemy, factions began to turn on each other for resources and land. After much violence, several prominent factions on the server decided to unite under 1 flag and bring us into the Age of Nations.

Gold has become an item of value, and with a new cash economy being brought into the world the future does look bright for the people of the Ancient World.
