Garry's Mod Roleplay - Games

This thread is also for you to post your RP servers or ones you like, that you're playing in. I'm currently running an RP server. It has a slightly modded fully working TacoScript, really fast downloads, and a small server side map change (made the map day). It is 20 slots, and I'm hoping to build a community of regular players. I'm in it right now as I'm typing this. The server is titled "=GU='s Roleplay HQ, Serious HL2RP [Gamers-Union.net]." It's IP is 209.44.122.44:27016. I might make you combine, or the city administrator. The map is rp_c18_v1 and the doors are all fully working. Remember, post your RP servers too.

The server has been up and down, but now I think it's up for good for awhile (in terms of being online).

Is it dedi? If so, can I be a combine? :v: I've played with taco script for about 3 weeks before I got bored on a server which I can't remember the name of. They only gave toolguns to people who they liked(Which was all the idiots) I looked on the forums and they gave a toolgun to a guy who wrote a post like this, no joke: I'm BlackSheep, and I think I should get a toolgun so I can build a store.END POST.

It's dedicated, and you can be a combine recruit. I just want people to join, so I can start getting regulars and server traffic. I'm going in now, it's up and working fine.

Eh, I prefer RP servers with no script, or LightRP.

What I'd suggest doing to get more players is: Give everyone 2000 cash to start with till you get regulars, and make some people CPs. [b]Edit:[/b] Get some black market dealers too.

GMRP has been going downhill for a while. I've been rp'ing since mid Gmod9, so i've seen a lot of scripts and servers come and go. Right now the only server i play on is EXRP. Server has been dead for months because Excel (the leader i suppose) decided to make a script rather than the heavily modified LightRP script we were using, script is releasing june 6th. I liked UCRPM in 9.04. God to think of all the lost memories. It brings a tear to my eye, Gmod 10's RP has not been that satisfying to me. One day, I may start up a real good server. I've been basically checking out various ones but none have been as good.

Yeah UCRPM was the best. I ran a listen server day and night for hours, i even made a little website but 10 came out and well...

I never enjoyed complex scripts. I played on a couple servers back in 8 and 9, which really only had Prop Protection and a /me script, and that was it. The cops were always mods and admins, so they had the powers they needed. It was great, back then, you could spawn SWEPS and use them for whatever you wanted, and if you went on a murder spree, the only thing that happened was a minor annoyance of respawning, not losing weapons that cost money. Now in GMOD 10, it's all these complex scripts that prevent me from doing what I want, dieing actually becomes a major annoyance, and Admins and Mods are terrible RPers. Some servers don't even have Physics and Tool Guns, which totally defeats the purpose of [B]Garry'smod[/B] RP. I'm an admin on a couple of servers now, but even then it's still crap. I was demoted from one server for creating zombie spawns so we could have a Zombie Survival RP, that all the people on the server even agreed to.

GMOD 9 RP > GMOD10 RP. UKRP > TacoScript. GMC > TNB. I COULD GO ON AND ON DAMN IT!

In real life people don't have toolguns or physguns, though sometimes they are useful in RP. Killing people randomly and creating weapons out of your ass is called DM, and there's another gamemode for it. Nothing but /me is stupid. That's way too much pretending. Atleast in these complex scripts you don't pretend much since the script has functions that allow to do those things, and actually pay for some of them. Just saying /me and pretending everything has always been extremely stupid to me. [quote]defeats the purpose of [B]Garry'smod[/B] RP.[/quote] Just because it's Garry's Mod RP doesn't mean you need to use the Garry's Mod stuff, that's for sandbox. It's made for Gmod because of Gmod's great gamemode creation potential with all the lua, and because Source is an amazing engine. It's better to use Gmod than make your own mod because Gmod is easier, you can spawn stuff, you have access to using the tools it comes with (if you want to, you don't have to), and because of the gamemode making, also it would be annoying to download separate mods for every RP type.

The swep menu was a huge downfall. Someone goes on a spree, only fun for the guy doing it, he gets killed and just re do's it. The server isn't just for you, you have to think if other people will like it.

I'm playing on a server named "BB Roleplay" or something like that. There are usually 30-42 players on the server.

Halo, whenever I try to get into your server it gives me a screen with a "Yes" "No" and "Continue" button, and if I click yes then continue, nothing happens.
