[u][b]Galaxy at War v 2.0[/b][/u] It's the year XXX1 We are in a galaxy far, far away Across the galaxy, a number of species have achieved intelligence and faster than light travel With massive civilizations to fuel and overpopulation to deal with, these races are compelled to reach out to surrounding systems in hopes of sustaining themselves. How much life is out there? How hostile is the universe? It is up to you to decide. Brief description] Civilization Description: [Is your civilization a mess of polluted industrialism? Is it a haven of skyscrapers and energy-efficient automated homes?] Technology: [See Weapon Tech below] Picture: [Optional] Other information: [If you want, write a novel about your race here] Then choose your place on the galactic map. Give a general quadrant. Copy-paste it, crop it down, and give me a marker in paint or something. Or just tell me where. I have all of the systems already mapped out, and I'll choose one that works in the area you want. This is how far you have access to from any one of your colonized systems or ships. Anything within range of one of your systems is automatically controlled by you. You can move your fleet anywhere within a fleet's range or any of your system's ranges. The range of your ship and system increases based on your research, if that's what you want to research. [u]Weapon Tech Type[/u] For the sake of simplicity, you can choose 1 of 8 type of weapon technology, though it is possible for you to have more if you research or trade for them. This serves as your offense and your defense capabilities. They fit into 2 groups: Physical These techs make use of more basic and less rare materials, require less energy, and are best for smaller civs. You can upgrade these easier also. 1.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/kinetic.png[/img] Kinetic: Still in the world of bullets, missiles, and explosives. 2.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/therm.png[/img] Thermal: Heat and cold manipulation. Basically, the offensive capabilities here are the ability to shoot waves of cold and heat at enemies, causing fracturing to their ships and extreme damage to personnel. 3.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/bio.png[/img] Biological: Anything from the use of viruses, to genetically engineered offensive capabilities or the use of animals. It is what you make of it. 4.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/robot.png[/img] Robotic: Beep boop. Relies on nanotechnologies, computer viruses, and the physical act of throwing robots and drones at the enemy's ship. Can be incredibly effective in the right situation, and again, it is what you make of it. Photonic These techs require more fissile materials and rare metals, are slow to upgrade, do more damage, and are best for more advanced civs. 5.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/ion.png[/img] Ionic: Rather complex and based out of energy technology. It's effective at disruption and great at defending against photonic weapons. 6.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/laser.png[/img] Laser: Uses a lot of fissile materials like uranium and thorium which ar epretty rare but doesn't require the gold and diamonds of ionic technology. Ineffective against ionic defenses, and especially effective against kinetic defenses. We all know what lasers are. 7.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/elec.png[/img] Electronic: Use of electricity. Can provide some defense from particle-based technology, and is most effective against physical. 8.[img]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38678023/gaw2/plasma.png[/img] Plasmatic: A general weapon that is effective against photonic but ineffective against physical. Here is a chart of weapon effectiveness. Read it as "the weapon on the left is offensively effect against the weapon on the top". i.e. Kinetic weapons (first one) is effective (green) against ionic defenses (the first blue one). Ionic weapons are ineffective (red) against biological defenses. Key: Green=effective, yellow=moderately effective, magenta=variable effectiveness, red=ineffective. I'll give you three rolls each turn, and how you assign the rolls is up to you. Like, you could have 3 research things with one roll each, or two with one roll on one and two on another, or one research with three rolls, doesn't matter. Each roll is added onto the existing roll for that research, until it gets to 100 and then you complete that research. A: First and primarily I'll have more free time. Secondly, this one will be a lot easier to deal with because I probably won't need to write a mountain of text. As opposed to the intricate socio-economics of nationstate, this one ought to be just people flying around in space. That is to say, don't expect novels and intricate details.
