Based off of Victoria, it will allow for some interesting gameplay. You take control of any nation you please, and run it to the best of your abilities. Founding alliances and setting up trade links helps you and your ally to develop. Or you can always wage war and take what you need by force. [B]Rules[/B] [U]1. Send Personal messages with the nation you wish to choose. If possible read a bit about that country that you have picked and what it did in a few years preceding 1836 and what they have done in this RP.[/U] [U]2. After you have picked your nation, you can send in turns, which take the form of:[/U] Military affairs: (Organisation, running, wars, reforms, etc) Diplomacy and external affairs: (Deals with other nations, trade, diplomatic bullshit, espionage) Economic affairs: (Economic reforms, things to focus in, budget, etc. Note that government intervention in economics is very small at the start.) Internal politics and affairs: (Politics, censorship, elections, social and political reforms, propaganda, etc) (Copy paste) Military: Diplomacy: Economy: Internal affairs: After this I will take in all the turns for processing and then make the next turn. [U]3. There is also a option for those who wish to be different, revolutionaries.[/U] You use the same country and turn format, but do it as the head of a underground revolutionary party. Your goal is to overthrow the regime and establish yourself as head of state, where you can then run things according to your will. (Depending on certain conditions, a civil war may happen. The revolutionaries can be funded by foreign players, and will grow in strength depending how incapable or capable the heads of state and parties are. A weak ruler and a strong party ruler will see a revolution occur. There may be only one such party for each country though. But another can appear once that party is eliminated or becomes the new state. [U]4. The map will be edited to reflect territory changes.[/U] I will try to edit things to match changing conditions as I go along. But the general idea is you either run a country, or work as a party to bring it down. Interact and all. Technologies, inventions, cultural movements and ideas will be partly affected by the player, but for the most part controlled by myself. The game began in 1836, with the new thread it being 1862 and restarting in 1864. The game is intended to continue until the mid 20th century. So uh, lets begin I guess. Medical standards are also rapidly improving as sanitation and vaccinations come into general use. The Romantic movement has grown into full blossom, and its reaction Realism has also begun to make an appearance as well. Both have grown more rapidly with the faster onset of the industrial revolution, and positivism is now becoming a strong force in philosophy. Socialism has appeared even earlier, and its reaction has rapidly divided the world into two camps of Capitalist and Socialist nations. This difference is more apparent between north and south America. Religion and the state has also begun to fight as matters of faith and policy come into question. The largest problem is that with the industrial revolution and publishing of new writings such as the Origin of the species, the faithful have begun to decline as the world enters this new uneasy era. Free trade is becoming highly popular with states as a means of promoting competition, and investment in businesses has become a popular activity. The Socialist nations discourage this however, and many have taken state control of industry and commerce. Some have begun to stagnate in recent years, excepting the USSR. [B]Europe[/b] Most of Europe started to industrialise much earlier than usual due to many rulers far-sightedness, along with many allowing for the implementation of democracies. However this has also led to the rise of nationalism, especially due to several wars carried out that has resulted in some older empires reaching collaspe whilst some nations (Germany and Italy) have ended up being created. Empires such as the Ottomans and Britain have completely ceased to exist, whilst Portugal and Germany have asserted their place in Europe and have grown impressively. Portugal has been the fastest growing power, and Britain the one that has declined the most. [B]Americas[/b] This too also began to modernise itself much more rapidly having gained their independence a few decades prior, with the opening up of trade and maintenance of democracy and wars in Europe the nations here have done extremely well. South America has seen the most growth and development. However the USA collapsed in a civil war and was followed by the worlds first Communist revolution. Canada gained independence and began a war against this new regime. In the process the rapidly developing and powerful Mexico supported the regime and ousted Canada and Britain from the continent completely. In recent years Mexico has aligned itself with the Communist regime, and both have begun to slowly stagnate as the nations to the south have begun to rapidly develop and overtake them. Gran Colombia has seen the greatest growth, whilst the United States and its successor state, the AUFC, has seen the most decline. [B]Asia[/b] China has seen the greatest change, with the adoption of Western ideals and technologies. In the process it has had to brutally crush dissent and attempt an entire restructuring of society. It is plagued by massive dissent and the troubles of industrialisation. In recent years this policy of change has slightly lessened, but now the new ruling classes are attempting to see democratic and liberal reforms pushed through. Other states in Asia such as Korea and Vietnam have been heavily subsidized by other power and brought under their influence to see their interests pushed through. Japan has been conquered by Korean benefactors and after Britain's collaspe in the great war, India declared independence and became a corporate Republic ruled by the East India Company. China has seen the greatest growth here, whilst Japan has essentially ceased to be of any importance. [B]Oceania and Africa[/b] These places have seen mostly colonisation by other powers, with the Oceania colonies becoming an independent state whilst the nations of Uganda and Chad have formed. Africa has been the scene of many colonisation attempts, mostly by French and Portuguese interests. Chad was heavily supported until support from it was withdrawn over threats of war, and now the nations doing best here are arguably Uganda and Portugal. Portugal and Uganda have seen the greatest growth here, whilst the ailing Ottoman empire lost all it had in this continent.
