NEED TWO RECRUITS!
Well, since I recently have gotten hooked on X-COM: UFO Defense by this thread, I've decided to make my own version of the Let's Play. A bit of background about the game first, shall we?
The game puts the player, me in this case, in charge of a highly trained (or so they say) unit of alien dispatchers, known as X-COM. They research new things about the aliens, shoot down alien UFOs, and dispatch the aliens themselves. The aliens can vary from simple small beings to large four-legged beasts designed to terrorize and maul everything in their way. Did I mention that aliens are invading Earth?
Anyways, moving on to the things important to the Let's Play. I'll first need a place to put our base, and a name for the base. I'll also need ten recruits, for, you know... Cannon fodder I guess? :v:
Classes:
Rifleman
Primary weapon: Any rifle, including but not limited to the Rifle, Laser Rifle, Plasma Rifle, Heavy Plasma
Secondary weapon: None if below rank Sergeant. Otherwise a pistol of some sorts.
CQC
Primary weapon: AP Autocannon, HE or IN if you get a Power Suit (which will only be if you get to rank Sergeant)
Secondary weapon: None
Squad Support
Primary weapon: Heavy laser
Secondary weapon: None if below rank Sergeant. Otherwise a pistol of some sorts.
Note: Usually carries extra mags for others. If you request this class and don't have enough strength(above fourty, give or take five), you will be rejected and opted to select another class
Heavy weapons
Primary weapon: Rocket launcher, anything that goes boom (other than autocannon)
Secondary weapon: None
Specialist
Primary weapon: Pistol
Secondary weapon: See above.
Notes: This class usually gets lots of special items, like high explosives and the like.
The way it will work is you'll first submit a form in this format to me as a post on here:
Name:
Class: Pick one from the list above.
Misc equipment (don't pick too much, it'll bog you down. Things like grenades, medkits, extra ammo for people, etc):
Next, is if you die and you have a medkit with you, then you are resurrected (in the form of a clone with different stats). If you die without one, you die for good and get replaced by someone else.
Base name will be selected by me since it's too broad of a subject. Only need four recruits, but we still need a base location!

Nallin

Class: Rifleman

Iceland base :D
Need more recruits guys! Looking forward to having some fairly epic moments with this, since I've gotten quite good at this game. Here's an epic story from a different savegame I've been playing:
So I'm just intercepting small ufos, waiting for some bases to show up, when a battleship comes knocking at my door. Base is assaulted, and I've got only three men armed with weapons (one with a heavy las, another with a laser rifle, and one with a stun rod), and four without anything... However, everyone has four grenades since I stockpile them for later use. So, immediately after turn one three men are killed, and I buddy up one unarmed man with the Heavy Las guy. The heavy las guy has barely enough energy to fire his gun, so he only can do it once every two-three turns. I manage to kill three Mudons (yes, mudons were assaulting! D:) with grenades, and second turn comes by. Another two were killed, the one with the laser rifle, and the other one with the stun rod.. So I'm left with two recruits (one with 59682763 grenades, one with a heavy las and barely enough energy to fire it, and my captain (who grabbed a heavy plasma from a dead Mudon). I move up Mr. Grenade in a lot of smoke that gathered from all the grenades, and he sees a mudon, so I tell my heavy laser to open up full auto on his ass. He took six shots before going down, returning fire twice (both misses). I also move my captain into a small room to hide and ambush.
Third turn comes by, and I hear movement, but no sight. I order my captain to come out of the room, and he sees one of those floating corpse things (not a cyberdisk) and he shoots it down, and returns to the room. Mr Grenade goes towards an allied corpse to retrieve a laser rifle, and spots a Mudon through the smoke with his back facing towards him. He grabs the laser rifle, aims... And there's not enough TU's. I move the Heavy Las guy up towards him, and end turn.
Fourth turn, only movement. I move captain out and he sees nothing, so I move him around a bit until I see that Mudon, and he kills him. I move the captain to a nearby corner, look out, and see two Mudons. Captain shits a brick and moves back to the corner. Mr Grenade and Heavy Las move towards a corner, with Grenade as the pointman. He moves around the corner, spots a mudon, and throws a grenade right at his feet. End turn.
Grenade explodes, killing Mudon. However, another Mudon comes from seemingly nowhere and shoots Grenade with a Heavy Plasma, fatally wounding him. Movement, but no more sight.
Fifth turn, and Grenade rendezvous's with Heavy Las, with Heavy Las healing his wound. Both are out of TU's. Captain aims around the corner, spots a Mudon approaching, and fires off three rounds, two hitting the Mudon square in the chest and the other hitting the Mudon behind him, fatally wounding him. End turn.
Movement, and a Mudon navigator panics, as well as Grenade and Heavy Las being taken out by a Blaster Bomb.
Sixth turn. Captain pops out, fires a snap shot and scores a headshot! At this point, there doesn't seem to be many Mudons left. I move my captain toward the scene where Grenade and Heavy Las were killed, and end turn.
Movement... And a Mudon Soldier and a Mudon Navigator panic.
Eigth turn, and I move my captain around a corner. He sees two mudons running around haplessly, throwing their weapons and screaming in terror :v: He just unloads on both, one getting away with wounds. End turn.
Movement, but no more panicking.
Final turn... Captain follows the remaining Mudon until he finds him over another dead Mudon body, grabbing a gun. The Captain crouches, aims, and fires, splattering the Mudon's brains all over his downed buddy.
Ended with one guy left. He killed nine mudons.
Holy shit.
I'm flattered.
Also, I'll help you figure out the whole screen shot deal-y if you want them in your posts.

FRAPS seems to work rather well. I was thinking about doing videos for the battles, but if I was to do that then I guess I'd just do a video let's play then :v:
Name: deathrat
Class: Specialist
Misc: medkit and a grenade

Sounds good. I like doing pictures because I can simply hit Alt+Pause to stop the game instantly at any time, giving me a nice opportunity to take great shots (however, I still mess up, esp. from reaction fire).

You could do a live feed, with procaster.
Got all day today, guys! Only need four more recruits (one more if I decide I'll join in as my own character), so join in!
Well, I've decided I'm gonna do a video let's play, and I've also decided that instead of waiting for more people, I'll use the current people and add me and a couple others, to raise interest in this so more people come, etc... :D First video should be up soon, still testing stuffs :v:
First video is done, need to upload it. 1gb ugh
Compressed it down to 25mb, quality is still pretty alright. Upload will be done VERY soon! :D
Processing... Live! Link
C&C is welcome, my first Let's Play :D
2nd video is up, 3rd is uploading.
3rd is up!
Sweet! :D
Just one minor gripe, is there any way that you can raise the volume of your mic? It's a bit hard to hear, but it's not too bad :)

Yeah, I noticed that after watching the videos. Turned mic boost on, seems to be good now. Hopefully, if nothing's going on this weekend I can get past video ten :) Recording and things are real fast :D Also, I got a new recruit for me since I died (without medkit). I'll post here if I need new recruits, not at the moment. Soon, though :chef:
Past 10?!
Good god.
But anyways, it looks like Doritos is still alive <.<
I'm sure that'll be fixed on the next invasion :D
4th video is up, 5th is too. 6th might be up soon, probably gonna record some since I slept all day (damn you comfortable laz-y boy chair :v:)
Oh, boooo. You're using the Collector's Edition?
The one where Blaster Bombs can't move up exactly one tile, and instead go south? That one?

It's fixed with the UFO Loader I'm using :smug: :v:
Also, we need a recruit since I just realized that Nallin has died twice now D:
Fine, sign me up as Priv_Ate_Snow
Fine, sign me up as Priv_Ate_Snow
Class/equipment? :p
Specialist, Pistol with two Proximity Grenades and a Smoke Grenade.
I'm in.
Name : Drake
Class : CQC (or anything else if you don't need one)
Equipment : Medkit
Don't make me be cannon fodder :argh:
Sounds kinda fun.
Name: Hugefeet
Class: Rifleman (or something else if you need something other than a rifleman)
Misc: Medkit, Grenades
I like your videos, btw. Looks oldschool as hell but it's fun to watch for some reason lol.
Haha that first battle seemed pretty fun. Me and Deathrat die by accident and everybody lost it after that.
Put me on the waiting list, I'm a bullet magnet, it'll save everybody else involved.
Name: Treelor
Class: Squad Support
Misc: Smoke grenades, HE grenades
Ive noticed you use auto shot a lot.
autoshot is the best if you don't hit your target then at least you destroy some fucking walls
autoshot is the best if you don't hit your target then at least you destroy some fucking walls
Autoshot has actually a better % chance to hit the target than snap shot.
