After a nearly year-long hiatus, we're back! Our website Our Steam group Connect to our server! Join our TeamSpeak! Even if you don't join our server, we play lots of games together! Never heard of us? Read our story! The D3vine has been a prominent Garry's Mod community since mid-2008. It started as a Sandbox community branched off by a few of TnB's administrators. During D3's infancy, a unique player ranking structure made for a rather unique reputation. At this point in time, RP servers were still dwarfed by Sandbox. We brought out a ZombieRP server in late 2009 with great success, and decided to take it a step further. At some point in time that nobody can remember, D3 went from hosting a Z server to plain 'ole RP. The next 3-4 years were a long haul to where we are (were) today (last year). Somewhere along the line, D3 was the first DarkRP server to reach 100 online players simultaneously without a trace of lag. This allowed us to control GameTracker's #1 position for an extended period of time. We even worked with Drakehawke to help out the official version of DarkRP (most of this was under the hood, but fun fact: some of D3's exact code is in DarkRP right now!). We ended our run with one server reaching 100 players for hours at a time during peak, and another than touched 60 during peak. So what happened? Just to keep the drama to a minimum, an unfortunate series of events led to The D3vine being shut down August of last year with no server. This is all we have to say on the subject. Why are we back now? If it weren't for persistence, there would be many points in time at which we would no longer be around. For the past 9 months, we have worked tirelessly to recreate a server that many felt shouldn't exist. Enough of the boring stuff. What do we have to show you? We're very excited to announce that our server is finally in a fully functioning state once again. Let's take a look around! With the advent of CoderHire, you can now visit ten different servers and most likely see a whole bunch of the same stuff. As younger server owners now have the ability to "uniquify" their servers with premium content for a small amount of money, the coding landscape (at least among DarkRP servers) has somewhat stagnated. Here at D3, this is not the case. We code everything that we use. A few of our features: - Server-coded events (BURGATRON, Molest-a-palooza, Zombies, Movespeed, VIP, etc!) - Completely original interface - Sophisticated organizations system - Police genome modification system - Jail escape system (the server works with you!) - Specialty shop (more on this later) - Cannibalism! - Intricate staff hierarchy - Hitman "Blood Vision" - This thing! Let's see some media! [t]http://i.gyazo.com/aa72c0c16d7d52b9aa1073be8de24718.png[/t] Organizations: A level of depth similar to guilds in World of Warcraft. Add and edit ranks, an MoTD that updates in real time, and easily manage the players in your organization! [t]http://i.gyazo.com/ec38c6e84b56d4ca6e524940cdd3e78b.png[/t] Police Genomes: Edit your damage, defense, and speed stats! These also alter your loadout and model. [t]http://i.gyazo.com/33c8189b1691646561545388c8615d9d.png[/t] Specialty Shop: Use points that accumulate over time on short-term upgrades! And remember, Rape-X© will keep you safe. [t]http://i.gyazo.com/a9d83ca2ce7b9e10266df6b7d85c760d.png[/t] Cannibalism: A gimmick at best, but eat dead bodies to restore some health and energy! [t]http://i.gyazo.com/39cebd6bc2aa30e1e1813c09604c20b0.png[/t] Custom Interface: Definitely smoother than DarkRP's stock interface! [t]http://i.gyazo.com/646ccdf7a39c6cb964858d0200bdb401.png[/t] Blood Vision: Contractors have a tough time keeping up with their prey. There's no way to hide, now. And more! Hop on and experience D3 for yourself!
Seems great! Connecting as I type ;D
There aren't many DarkRP servers that can truly say they're 100% custom. Great job.
Was going to join, until... What the fuck.
how else can they make up for server costs?
Well they've put a lot of effort into it, so they can totally get away with this.
how else can they make up for server costs?
The specialty shop doesn't involve real currency :v:
points that accumulate over time
Now this is something i'd want to play.
Nice job on the op Beast. Keep up the good work!
Well they've put a lot of effort into it, so they can totally get away with this.
You can have all of the content you want, but if you're going to waste on pointless and immature features such as 'rape class', who cares? Seriously, I find that well-placed and mechanic changing content is a lot more effective than pointless addons that serve no function other than to be 'funny' in the most sarcastic sense of the word possible.
You can have all of the content you want, but if you're going to waste on pointless and immature features such as 'rape class', who cares?
Does the same go to your servers no one joins so who cares
You can have all of the content you want, but if you're going to waste on pointless and immature features such as 'rape class', who cares? Seriously, I find that well-placed and mechanic changing content is a lot more effective than pointless addons that serve no function other than to be 'funny' in the most sarcastic sense of the word possible.
The primary purpose of a game is to be fun. And, each person has their own definition of fun, of course. Yours differs in the sense that (I'd assume) serious role play is fun role play. This server is most decidedly not serious, or at least I haven't found that word in the OP, so it obviously wouldn't appeal to you. That's perfectly fine. But calling it pointless and wasteful because you personally don't dig it is plain foolish. It should be given that not everybody sees the way you see, so in the spirit of your own comment, who cares? Until you actually experience how each mechanic on the server works against the others, you have no way to tell definitively if it is or isn't pointless.
I thought part of the fun as Hitman was finding your prey and tracking him down among a crowd or asking people if they've seen your target. IMO Blood Vision removes half the fun of being a Hitman if you're really just killing people that are pointed out

It's there as a handicap because hits have a rather quick expiration. In practice, we've not seen any adverse effects. Most people find it a hell of a neat gimmick. Those that don't like I said can disable it.

So your hits have an expiration time?
Ah, well that's good to know. So your hits have an expiration time?
Yes, they expire after a short period of time. We also recently converted pockets to save, so the gun collectors can stay persistent :v:
Honestly one of the funnest servers I have ever been on. This was my first multiplayer server I have ever joined and I will always enjoy its presence in the Garry's Mod community. King has done nothing but bring excellent content and fun into DarkRP and I personally want to thank him for doing that. The servers are really fun and I hope you all take a moment to hop on and experience the fun I have.
I used to play on this community back in late 2009. Great stuff, good fun. Say, KingofBeast, are old VIP ranks still in effect?
I used to play on this community back in late 2009. Great stuff, good fun. Say, KingofBeast, are old VIP ranks still in effect?
They are, but unless you donated after March last year, you'll need to manually send in a request for them (Credits). You can do so by going to your PayPal history, or even the email associated with it. Look for payments to Austin Thomas and make sure you get them all. Simply send a screenshot or any other proof of purchase to John Constantine on the forums along with your SteamID. Then, you'll be refunded in full with ability to buy back VIP, permanent weapons, events, or anything else on the F1 store menu. It can be done, I received mine back from 2010.
the d3vine was good in 2009, early 2010. Why did you guys have to RUIN IT
