A month from now will mark the 9th anniversary of the end of hostilities between the Greater German Reich and the British Empire. For the British, a humiliating defeat brought on by terrible morale, coupled with the death of Hitler (the cause is still unknown) on June 26th, 1940, the ability to keep tactical areas in Scandinavia, and the thought of Goering as a trustworthy individual. For the Germans, a willingness to settle with what they had, and a willingness to leave the British alone overseas if they had a free hand in Europe. Some people have taken to calling the year and a half of warfare the 'war of German aggression.' Poland ceased to be. Limburg and parts of Liege were annexed. Western Europe was filled to the brim with pro-Axis governments. The Balkans fell while the British turn a blind eye. Turbulent relations between the Axis and Comintern switched from warm to lukewarm as the decade drew on. Kings and queens who once roamed grand palaces are now reduced to experiencing the same conditions their subjects in the colonies suffered through. Generals and revolutionaries grabbed vast swaths of France's former colonial empire, some being able to keep funding their treasuries while others succumbing to the first-hand experience of colonialism. Shit. Where did we go wrong?
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS:
1. Be respectful to other players. 2. Don't be too crazy with your turns; you probably won't get anywhere if you say 'make the USSR a republic' with no lead up. Work towards your goals slowly. 3. It helps to have a good grasp of what country you're taking control. This makes roleplaying both more realistic and more fun. A pre-turn will be posted once you have sent me a PM picking a country to facilitate this. 4. If you ever need any advice on how to run your country, or have any questions about the setting (there's probably a lot of them), please send me a PM or a friend request on Steam and I'll try to answer it when I'm available. 5. Send in your turns to me unless otherwise specified. 6. Pick three techs realistic to the period and one of them will be selected at random. 7. To establish countries, all you need is to PM me the name of the country. Flags can be changed after that if the default isn't suitable for you. 8. Keep the turns relatively short. If you can't fit the amount of progress and/or absolute agony your country is going through in 15 lines total, then you should probably tone it down a little. 9. Turns will be processed every Sunday. If there's a lapse in my schedule, I'll be sure to notify the thread. 10. If there are any errors in the map, please feel free to notify me (or supply me with a corrected map) and I'll incorporate it into the RP.
Each turn is 6 months of time, so plan accordingly. Pre-turn will be posted this Sunday, then you'll be able to work on the first turn. Example of a turn post:
PM title: *nation name* - Turn n PM contents - Diplomatic: Treaties, alliances etc. Domestic: Internal politics, laws, social movements etc. External: The Diplomatic section for players interacting with NPCs Military: Budget, weaponry, annexations, invasions etc. Espionage: Actions that, unless you fail and get caught, will not be shown in your turn but will affect other countries Tech: See the sixth commandment. The time period in which these alternate countries are at in terms of tech levels will be given in the pre-turn.
Players: 1/8 Japan - Mallow234
What's with France? Shouldn't it be split?
What's with France? Shouldn't it be split?
The Second Armistice at Compiègne lasted until the cessation of hostilities on July 1st, 1940, in which a final peace treaty (the Treaty of Compiègne) that ceded the zone occupée to France was signed under the Goering administration. The one exception to this is the territory demarcated by the Military Administration in Belgium and Northern France, which was given to the Belgian State.

Also, what happened to Himmler and Goebbels?
Shouldn't that be in the OP then? Also, what happened to Himmler and Goebbels?
Prepare for a wall of text
I'm avoiding putting too much stuff in the OP. There's a lot of shit to cover, so I'm answering things on a case-by-case basis. Bloating the OP with too much complicated stuff will turn people off of the RP. As for Himmler, he was kicked out of the leadership position in the SS for letting Heydrich's assassination attempt go unnoticed (Heydrich survives in this timeline). Heydrich becomes the new leader of the SS and uses this position to get into the party's inner circle. Goebbels is still Reich Minister of Propaganda in 1949, and will continue to be in the foreseeable future. I would get into more about Goebbels, but then I'd have to get into Germany's regime changes, how Goering got assassinated and Heydrich became Fuehrer, the economic collapse of Germany in 1944 following the Comintern's cooling of relations with the Axis, etcetera.
Wouldn't it make more sense for Hawaii and the Philippines along with a lot of other Pacific nations to be under Japanese control?
Wouldn't it make more sense for Hawaii and the Philippines along with a lot of other Pacific nations to be under Japanese control?
Japan did not go to war with the US. They barely invaded China during the Shanghai Conflict (1936), which led to the capture of Shanghai and Hainan by the Japanese. It was an unmitigated disaster for the Japanese even then, leading to militarism getting discredited a decade before it was in our timeline. The British eventually struck a deal with them stating that they'd recognize current borders in China if they cease hostilities. These two things combined led to the Japanese holding off an invasion indefinitely. This is also why Japan is NATO aligned, as the souring of relations between the Western Powers and Japan was mostly facilitated by a combination of what they were doing in China, the capture of Indochina by the Japanese (which never happened), them joining the Axis in 1941 (never happened because there was no strategic value for the Axis to switch from friendly Chinese relations to Japan), and the oil embargo culminating into Pearl Harbor (also never happened).
What's the big superstate in Western Africa?
Republic of West Africa, a democracy that ceded from Free France after Free France became too authoritarian for one certain general (Maurice Gamelin, who fled Vichy with de Gaulle in this timeline). This de Gaulle-Gamelin schism split Free France cleanly down the middle (in both popular support and territory wise), and since West Africa is where most Free French recruits from Africa came from, de Gaulle could not hope to retake Gamelin's territory. Meanwhile, Gamelin was satisfied enough with what he got not to push into Equatorial Africa.
is this alternate timeline something you've created and had it all written all out previously?
I guess I'll take Japan
is this alternate timeline something you've created and had it all written all out previously?
Pretty much, yeah. I can't really put all of the stuff in the OP considering it's probably going to be a wall of text, but the stuff is there and I've made sure that it's as plausible as it can be.
I'll take super India

So what been happening in the great motherland? I'm thinking of joining this RP as them.
Alright, so unfortunately, I've gotta abort this pet project, like, now. Some of the stuff I'm doing is sapping a lot more of my time than I anticipated, so I'm pretty much unable to write a pre-turn at this point in time and I don't really see an end to that situation. I probably should've waited a bit to see if I was actually prepared to follow up with this.
