Rise of Imperium: A Fantasy Political Intrigue RP [t]http://i.imgur.com/MtDKhq8.png[/t]
History It is the the year 100, of the Last Era. A century ago, the sun was eclipsed, as a comet burned through the sky, leaving a trail of white. The sign of the end times. The Era of Last Song, which had brought mortality to the Elves and the rebirth of magic in man, ended on its thousandth year, and all changed. Imperator Asgon, named the Destroyer, the Corrupter, the Conqueror, the Black Sun, and by some, the Uniter, swept from The Deadlands and conquered all of the kingdoms of man. Asgon had been locked away over a millennia ago, his kingdom turned to dust in his defeat, but his chains had weakened, and those who were meant to prepare for his return had forgotten of his existence. Like a plague, his agents swept across the world and his magics corrupted the minds of man. Those who resisted met the Black Legions, and soon, only a handful of kingdoms remained. The Seekers of Light reformed to stop him. An ancient order, once meant to guard Asgon's prison and ensure the safety of the world, the Seekers had been forgotten until the Destroyer's return. The last free peoples, along with the last of the Elves, formed together in alliance to stop the tide of darkness. The Border Princedoms, Iorven, Vilski, Aldari, and even the Magi-Kings of the Pale united together in one last hope. Protected by the Scarrs and the Northward Passes, they prepared for their final stand, as a fellowship formed to kill Asgon and bring peace to the world once more. The last hope for all life, they went forth to find Asgon's true name, and stop the coming oblivion. They failed. The Seekers were destroyed, and the alliance collapsed. The Border Princes saw the coming storm and bent the knee to Asgon, and his legions swept south and into the Free Kingdoms. In Pale, slave revolts tore down the Magocracy, in Iorven, the great forests were burned and the Iorven Rangers with them, and Vilski found itself alone as the Aldari abandoned all others for their own defense. The Kingdom of Aldari was the last to stand against the Black Legions, and for five years it fought, but the Destroyer's might can not be questioned, and soon the Kingdom fell to the storm. Prophesy foretold 100 to be the last year of the light, and it looks to be true. While the armies of Aldari still fight in Avermont and Port Delroi, their defeat is an inevitability. The Destroyer has won. Now, Asgon looks on from war and towards reconstruction. The Imperium now rules over all, and his agents now move forth to do his bidding. Asgon is known as the Uniter to his subjects, for while he works in dark magics and his forces slaughter their enemies without mercy, those within the Imperium's borders now know a life of safety, where as long as they pay their taxes and obey the Black Sun's laws, they can live in peace and enjoy the prosperity that Asgon has brought. In order to enforce Asgon's will and ensure this prosperity, however, the Imperium runs on the backs of dozens of bureaus, divisions, factions, and departments. And this is where you come on.

Rise of Imperium You will play as the leader (or co-leader if you want to run it with somebody else) of one of the many bureaus in the Imperium. Your mission will be to grow your own power and that of your organization, while also enforcing Asgon's law and following his commands. The RP is a mix of political and character RP, and you'll be running both your organization while also trying to make yourself rich and powerful. When you design your organization, it will be decided exactly how favored you are by the Imperator, how much money and other supplies you receive and what your mission is. The first few turns will be a prologue of sorts, where the players will be mopping up the last of Asgon's enemies and stretching their legs in the system, as well as finding how exactly their bureau will work and how the Imperator will treat them. Once it's all sorted out, we'll get to [s]fucking up[/s] managing the nation for real. Feel free to be inventive with what you're managing, I'm extremely open to whatever you have planned. If you want to do something weird / interesting / not sure that I'd allow, feel free to ask here or on the Discord or Steam. Worst comes to worst we'll find a middle ground. Feel free to hit me with any lore questions, because I know I get carried away writing these things and it can get confusing. Also feel free to suggest anything you want to add to the story, this revolves around players. Relevant or interesting bits of history will be peppered into turns and between updates to flesh out the world a bit. If you've played the game Tyranny then you probably have an idea of what all this is, as the game's premise is similar.

The World [t]http://i.imgur.com/eiRSEUf.jpg[/t]

Play Area [t]http://i.imgur.com/NyzWgd0.jpg[/t]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send both of these in a single PM:
Your organization:
Organization Name: (The name of your organization) Organization Description: (What your organization is and does) Background: (Have fun with this one. All who do not worship him are rooted out and destroyed before they can spread their heresy. Inquisitors also work as judges and lawmen when travelling, and have the authority to execute Asgon's justice on his subjects. Inquisitors are also trained to fight magic, in order to fight the heretical religions themselves. Background: The Inquisition was founded forty years ago when Asgon first established his empire in order to ensure stability in the realm, and while initially only meant to hunt heresy, have turned into a form of law enforcement in the Imperium. Character Name: Dorian Dray Character Description and History: Dorian was one of the most zealous members of the Inquisition, and rose through the ranks thanks to his rigid zealotry and adherence to Asgon's will. He is one of the youngest leaders in the Imperium, only in his early thirties, but shows the wisdom of those much older. Even then, however, he is known as a hothead, and brash, and many believe he will one day overstep himself and displease Asgon - a quick way to one's death. Additional Info: Dray has made a lot of enemies outside and inside the Inquisition in his quick rise to power.

Guild of Printers Organization Name: Guild of Printers Organization Description: The Guild of Printers controls the messengers, the printers, and the road system of the Imperium. Those that the Guild can not defeat with their large security force are normally destroyed by the monstrous amounts of paper work the Guild will gladly bury one under. Background: The Guild of Printers began as a small organization in the Imperium solely tasked with creating the lifeblood of Asgon's empire: paper. Over time, however, they have grown and assumed more and more responsibility, such as the running of the Imperial messenger service, the writing of all of Asgon's laws and so much more. The leader of the Guild, the White, has used this to great effect. When your enemies try to conspire but use your messengers to communicate, it's not hard to track them. Base: In the former royal palace of Bastogne. Additional Info: [t]http://i.imgur.com/LU8ecsd.png[/t] The flag and symbol of the Guild of Printers. Character Name: The White Character Description and History: Nobody knows the White's true name, although many have tried to discover it. The White was once a minor wizard in the northern lands, who had been rejected by society and imprisoned for employing forbidden magic. When the Imperium destroyed his kingdom and freed him from his prison, he found his spells were not only allowed, but encouraged, and he soon rose rapidly through the ranks of Asgon's followers. After pioneering a way to use magic to teleport oneself, he was tasked with finding a way to teleport the piles of paperwork the Imperium ran on to wherever it needed to go. While he never discovered a spell to do so, his smart planning and skill made him a natural bureaucrat, and his conniving and backstabbing manor led to him rising to Asgon's inner circle itself. He earned his name by the white mask he wears to hide his identity, and many in the Guild wear similar masks in an attempt to please their mysterious employer. Quietly. Background: Little is known about the origin of the guild, and many believe it to have existed since the very start of Asgon's reign. All that is known is that they have killed lots of people. Supposedly always for a reason, though many think they do it for fun. Additional Info: N/A

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Rules • Don't be dicks to each other, have fun with it, • 'Realism' is encouraged, but feel free to have fun with it. • Not going to put in a line limit just don't be an asshole with it please. • No maximum player limit either, we'll see if it gets ridiculous. • RP is encouraged.

How it Works •Each turn is four months long, though there will be updates and mini-turns to fill in between and allow players to progress their organization in the meantime. •Every organization will have a set amount of funding, stability, approval (from other organizations and the people of the kingdoms) and, most important of all, Asgon's favor. All players can see a general idea of where others are at, though the specifics are only told via PM, and can differ from what others see. Your goal as the leader of your guild is to either gain power or please Asgon, or both, or neither. •Every turn (or longer if you need more time), you will be given orders from Asgon or his inner circle. It can be anything as casual as transporting supplies to assassinating the leader of one of the other guilds. You will often find that his commands will be contrary to your goals, or dangerous to your own health to see through. This is probably on purpose, Asgon takes great care to ensure his underlings do not become too powerful, and will gladly pit them against each other to do so. •With no line limit, you're free to write out what you do to your heart's content (within reason, try not to give me a novel or your adult fanfiction please), at least for the beginning. Feel free to plot against other players, ally with them, take over parts of the land, grow your own power, and anything else you might want to do, but try and follow the Conqueror's orders. Mind you though, even without a line limit, you can still only do so much in the time given. Expect your organization to struggle to keep up if you constantly task out dozens of missions. •There is a story and things will happen as the game progresses, don't expect everything to be the same every turn, often expect problems to arise that all of you will have to fight or you individually will have to deal with. The plot is also player driven as well, what you do will have an effect on the world, for better or for ill, and the story will accommodate you. •Not following Asgon's will probably won't he conductive to your health or prosperity, but the Uniter works in mysterious ways, and often seems to enjoy watching his underlings vie for power and attempt to bend his will. Failing or finding away around one of his orders probably won't lead to you being destroyed, but don't expect him not to care if you consistently attempt to rebel. •There will be NPC bureaus working as well, expect them to appear or collapse at my discretion, and feel free to suggest some or introduce a few in your turn, just run it by me first. They'll be listed in the OP and in turns as they come along. •Your character can die, and your organization can be disbanded. If you die you can continue with a new character (or hell, come back, necromancy's a thing, go for it) and if disbanded you can still try and run your organization is opposition to Asgon or take charge of a splinter / successor organization. Be creative with it. I also won't kill players or fuck them over without reason, if you're doing something that will end with you being Caesar'd I'll warn you first.

Turn Format [Player Name]: Imperium [Turn ##]
Player Name:

[Your characters name.] Organization: [What you're running.] Public Actions: [Anything you do publicly to the knowledge of other players and the world at large.
Lore Dump As always with my RPs, I'll post answers to any questions I get asked or as I feel needed:
Women
[t]http://i.imgur.com/jKX91vZ.png[/t] In the last days of the Aldari Kingdom, even the womenfolk donned armor and picked up swords to fight against the dreaded Imperium and its dark master. During the siege of Port Del Roi, women would collect the arms from fallen soldiers and fill in the ranks lost to the Legions. Towards the end of the siege, several companies of the Aldari garrison had more women than men.
The woman's role in the world is generally dependent on where you are and the local culture. In the Kingdoms bar the Pale, women were politically and socially repressed. While many of the Kingdoms had stories of warrior princesses and heroines, most of these stories ended with the woman warrior either settling down and marrying or being executed for heresy against the local gods. Women have risen up to assist in the fighting against Asgon, but society in the Kingdoms remains unchanged. The exception to this was The Pale, where magic was valued above all, and those who were not gifted with it generally found themselves as slaves to the Magi-Kings. As women and men both can use magic equally well, women found themselves on both sides of society. In the Imperium, Asgon does not care about such things. Gender means nothing to the Uniter, only how one can serve him and his goals. Nobody even knows whether or not Asgon is a man, or even if he has any gender. Asgon's conquest normally leave the old systems intact, those who were bakers and priests and soldiers tend to still be bakers and priests and soldiers, just for Asgon. Likewise, areas tend to keep much of their old law, as long as it does not contradict the Destroyer's own, and so a land's view on women is generally diverse depending on where in the Imperium you go.

Monsters
"It killed them. It killed the 'orses, then the little ones, then I 'eard my wife screaming. Oh by the Black Sun, it came out of the walls! I ran, I ran so 'ard, I got to the guard post and they went to check and oh... oh they stood no chance." ~ A peasant living near the Scarrs, referring to an unknown species of beast.
Ancient forests, forgotten ruins and the great seas of the world are dangerous places to near. Beasts and monsters live in the world, from near-mythical dragons in the distant north to the dire wolves of the Imperial Steppe, beasts rule the Earth just as much as man. While their numbers have slowly begun to decline, they still pose a great threat to all. Asgon has tamed many of these beasts, just as he has done to man and elf, and tales tell of Asgon's minions riding on wyverns or leading basilisks and minotaurs to battle, though it is impossible to differentiate the legends of his conquests from the reality. Attacks by monsters have gone down in the Imperium, and the Black Legions ensure monsters are kept far from Imperial cities. Larger and deadlier monsters require expertise, however, and luckily there are those who have studied monster and mutant. Beast hunters are not uncommon, the most famous of which being the Weidzmin Order under Rodrik Galewyn, which, while nominally independent, has forged an indefinite and exclusive contract for the Uniter.

The War
[t]http://i.imgur.com/DnI4PHE.png[/t] Members of the 11th Legion, 1st Cohort, nicknamed the Dawnbreakers from their actions in the Sunset Empire of Chi, do battle with Aldari soldiers under General Rochele, north of Avermont.
The Kingdoms are dead, the Imperium rules. The death knell of freedom is ringing across the land, as the shattered corpse of Asgon's enemies gasp out final breaths on the battlefields of the south. Token resistance remains, and Asgon has dedicated much to put it down, for while the Black Sun is nigh unstoppable, his legions are mostly comprised of mortal men. The Kingdoms refuse to go easily, and Asgon's invasion has already taken weeks longer than planned. The countryside is in ruins, thousands are dead, and an entire legion was lost attempting to fight through the Pale. While Asgon's will be done and his enemies crushed, it has come at considerable cost, and has shaken the Imperium's confidence in its legions. This has not been without benefit however, as the sudden doubt in the competence of much of several of the leading organizations in the Imperium and the destruction presents opportunity. Smaller bureaus now just need to convince the Uniter they are less incompetent than the larger ones, and with so much of the Kingdoms laying in waste, several of Asgon's minions have already begun claiming the now lawless land. [t]http://i.imgur.com/pZwTkn7.png[/t] Fighting still rages in south Aldari and the Pale. The march from Prins to the capital of Avermont has been a long one, and the Tempests Guild, a group of Magi dedicated to predicting the weather, have foreseen a long and hard winter ahead. If the war is not won by the time the winter comes, then the Black Legion's already badly stretched supply lines will not be able to maintain their current positions, and a withdraw back to Prins will be necessary. While the 11th Legion has become bogged down on its march to Avermont, the Aldari having burned the city of Caele behind them, further breaking the Imperial supply line, Imperial forces have successfully forded the river using ships from the town of Siere de Metz, and have rapidly moved inland to flank Aldari forces camped at Fortresse de Aldar. A victory there could open up another path to Avermont, the city visible from the fortress's towers, and General Rochele, leader of the forces defending the Aldari capital, seems unaware of the rapidly approaching forces. However, there is no stable supply route for the Imperial armies, and a failure to rapidly take Fortresse de Aldar could kill the entire northern offensive. In the east, things are looking better for the Imperials, as forces under the Lord-Magi Selhart and the Black Practitioners, an elite cabal of Magi formed just for the war in the Kingdoms, have helped the battered 2nd Legion rapidly end the siege of Port Del Roi by destroying the city. After two months of siege, with Imperial forces nearly becoming outflanked by rapidly approaching armies led by General Delvon Blanc, the Magi created a spell that brought the sea up and the sky down upon the port, waters swallowing much of it whole and fire raging down on those defenders who did not drown. Many Imperial soldiers were also killed in the magical storm, and tensions in the area are taut between the various Imperial forces. Despite this, Aldari forces have rapidly begun withdrawing from the area, one whole Aldari Division shattered in the fighting. To the south, Imperial forces have landed in Toulose and elsewhere along the coast via ship, but have been stopped by Aldari forces around the town of Averly. It was hoped that ships in Port Del Roi could have been used to bring further forces in support, but with the destruction of the city this is now impossible, and with General Blanc's forces rapidly retreating towards Averly, it seems likely that the marine forces will be lost. In the east, the Magocracy technically lives on, though this only manifests in four places- Rone, Lanzan, Ful and the White Tower. While Imperial forces initially attempted the march through Rone, the Magi-Kings united and used all of their power (and the sacrifice of hundreds of slaves) to destroy the invading 6th Legion, which was killed to a man. The sacrifice they needed for such power, however, was the last straw, as the slaves, which outnumber the magi 10 to 1 in the Pale, rose up against their masters. Imperial forces now primarily wait and watch as the Magocracy collapses from the inside. While most of the Pale's slave armies have defected to the rebels, all those still loyal and all remaining magi have been called back for a final stand at the White Tower, which is now surrounded by armies of former slaves. With their border forts mostly abandoned in the chaos, forces belonging to the Imperial Guard have done what the Legions have decided against and once again invaded the Pale. Fording the great Kolne river, they have taken the fortress of Ehresohven and shattered the few magi still defending it, sending another group retreating back to Linderfort, which is already under siege from an army of former slaves. While the slaves are not allied to Asgon, they have yet to fight his forces. While all those not under the Uniter are technically in opposition to him, it is suspected either the Imperium or the leaders of the rebellion will open negotiations soon. Many predict Asgon will declare the Pale a land of free men, banning slavery in the area, in return for their allegiance.

Elves and Dwarves
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Xxbcdr2.png[/t] While many Elves dedicated themselves to Asgon to save their race, some lost themselves in this life, and fell to darker temptations, becoming twisted mockeries of their Sylvan brethren.
Elvenkind is dying and many believe that the Last Era will signal the end of their race forever. Elves can be found scattered across the world still, some even working under the Imperium, though most retreated west when Asgon broke his chains and left his prison. The Isles of Last Hope, claimed by the Aldari but worshiped by the Elves as their last sanctuary, was invaded by Imperial forces and had its great forests and the First Tree, believed by the Elves to be the lifeblood of the world, burned to cinders or turned to ships for the Imperial navy. Some elves, however, work under Asgon, willingly and happily. They believe Asgon has the answer to their questions. Why did they become mortal? Why are they dying? How can they save their race? Asgon reward his followers generously, and perhaps through service they can bring their race back from oblivion. Using dark magics, these Elves have begun to take on different traits than their free brothers, and many now call them the Drau Elves. Dwarves are mythical creatures. It is ridiculous to think any creature so short can consume so much alcohol, silly. Mothers normally tell their children scary stories about evil dwarves like the tale of the White Queen, who they claim was captured by seven dwarves, tortured, then devoured.

TURN EXAMPLE: I realized things might be a little confusing (I hardly know how this works myself) so I wrote up a turn example for y'all.
Orders: 1. Assassinate the King 2. Steal the treasure 3. Stop the monster

Turn: Lord-Magi Selhart Organization: Black Practitioners Public Actions: -Spy on the King, send men to find his schedule and get close to him if they can. -Track down the location of the treasure and hire mercenaries to get it for us. When we get it, keep it and pretend like we couldn't find it, and have the mercenaries assassinated. -Send some men to the Pale to help out in the invasion and get brownie points. -Capture the monster, maybe we can use it? Secret Actions: -Begin capturing local peasants for sacrifices / manpower. -Use a spell to try and mind control the leader of the 2nd Legion, and try to take control. Messages: Asgon: "Oh master please beseech us with more gold and tons of magical goodies." Requests: -More funding, we need more cash to replace losses in Del Roi. -Ancient spells that nobody here has would give us an edge against the Uniter's enemies. OOC: -<3
After which, I would send him responses to his actions, if applicable. You can send in multiple turns if we talk and that progresses what you wanted to do, so if the player asks to spy on the King, I will tell them what he found, tell him that's a month down, and then he can send in another turn about what to do with that information. It's... probably a bit confusing, but that's why the beginning is serving as a prologue of sorts, this will probably change to make more sense as we go and make a system of it.
This sounds really fun and I'm totally up for joining in, I'm just doing interview prep this evening. Could I get you my stuff in tomorrow evening?
ASGON'S PROCLAMATION The Unification Wars, as Asgon's followers have begun to call his ruthless conquest of the known world, continues on into what is supposed to be its final year. Over a hundred various realms, from the disparate Thousand Empires to the far north, and now the proud kingdoms of the south, have been weighed by Asgon and found wanting. Crowns have shattered and armies scattered, and now Asgon's legions march upon the final lands that stand against him. The once proud Kingdom of Aldari, and their nemesis, but allies against Asgon, the Magocracy of the Pale, are the only realms that 'remain' fighting. Arrayed against them are the largest armies the world has ever seen, rivaling any ever organized even in legends and fable. With all that is arrayed against them, it is surprising they stand yet. As the Magi fight on for their status and the Aldari for their freedom, none can say their resistance was not impressive. Prophecy has fated that in the 100th year of the Last Era, as the once yellow sun begins to turn red and dim, and the eclipse brings forth the doom of man, that the world's end will begin. It seems even Asgon is beholden to prophecy, as the 100th year seems like it shall mark the end of his conquest. But this opens the question, has prophecy demanded this and is Asgon just attempting to follow it, or is the fate of the world still at question, and does Asgon fear missing his time? For the remaining Aldari, their hope lies in the second. The winter comes, and as the world grows colder with the waning sun, the winter that comes shall be fierce. Asgon's Black Legions and his thousand other armies are stretched thin already as the last free people's have set their own homes and food to the torch to deny it to the Conqueror, and a winter will destroy the legions more assuredly than any mortal foe. Time is ticking, eight months are left for Asgon's armies to take the south, or the prophecy shall prove untrue, and Asgon may yet be defeated. Whether it be fear of the unfollowed prophecy or simply a wish to see his will through, the Black Sun has issued a proclamation to all men in the south, from the Legatus Primus to the most lowly soldier, his words banging in their head like a drum: "The black banner shall fly from the spires of Avermont, and in the Throne of Aver shall sit one who bows to my power, or the south shall burn, and all those who have failed me shall find no peace, in this realm or the next." Perhaps to punctuate this point, or perhaps in preparation for failure, the skies over southern Aldari, also known as Acroi, have taken a red tint. Black clouds fly now, and in them streaks lightning, thunder booming to show the Corrupter's displeasure. Imperial forces have redoubled their efforts now, for all know the price of failure, and Asgon has never had his will made so blatant. Either Aldari falls, or all, both those who follow Asgon's will and those who fight it, shall face oblivion. One way or the other, the prophecy shall be followed, and Asgon will rule over all.

THE BLOOD OF AVER The Kingdom of Aldari is the union of three, the Kingdoms of Acroi, Rederlen and Elnini once fought each other and prided themselves on independence, when Aver led the peasants of Acroi against its mad king. He was imprisoned for this transgression, but after swaying his gaolers to his side, he escaped and brought the people against their king, taking his throne. When Rederlen invaded Acroi shortly after, Aver defeated their armies and claimed another throne, and finally took Elnini as his own as well, forming the Kingdom of Aldari, and uniting the three under his rule. Hundreds of years later his memory still unites the Aldari, from the lowliest peasant to the proudest noble, and his line has sat on the throne since his conquest, through civil war and unrest. The only problem is that the Throne of Aver remains empty. Agents of Asgon eliminated the last king, and the two who came after, and then the queen, and now only a regent controls the kingdom. General Rochele, leader of the forces defending Avermont, has gone missing. Reports claim that he believes that there is still an heir to the line of Aver in the Kingdoms, and has sworn to the remaining leaders of the Aldari Kingdom that he shall find him and keep him safe to rally his people.

THE WHITE TOWER FALLS The White Tower is where the Magi's Council of the Hundred, the 100 most powerful Magi who lead the Pale, have always made their home. Created by them when they first overthrew the Kings of Kederein, the Tower has served as the seat of their government, and the seat of their power, generation after generation of Magi learning their trade there and, some say, it was even the source of it. Tales told of the Magi harnessing the power of a star, and locking it in their tower to teach them the way to perform magic like Gods. Regardless of tales, the White Tower was home to not only the Hundred, but hundreds of other Magi, and thousands of slaves. Even while under siege by an army of slaves numbered in the hundreds of thousands, the city still remained one of the most populated in the world. The city was so large and impressive that Asgon had seemingly decided against taking it, happy to allow others to pillage the tower's wonders and end the Magi. Of course, nobody predicted what happened next. One night, as the fighting across the Pale died briefly and the soldiers began to rest, the sun rose on the horizon, or at least that's what many claimed. Those unlucky enough to have been staring towards the tower that night were blinded instantly, as, like a flower blooming, light billowed over the horizon and fire erupted into the sky. The entirety of the Pale was illuminated by the magical blast, and the shock-wave was felt all the way to the Aldari. Those close enough to hear but not so close as to have been caught in the blast claimed that they heard the sound like thunder cracking across the world, as if the Earth itself was shattered, and the wind that came after seemed to carry the sounds of screaming, of crying, of the damned. Those who dared to investigate found the mountains and hills that dotted the central Pale gone, and the Tower, or what left of it, a hollowed shell, the city that had grown around it wiped out and turned to ash. All who venture too close grow sick from the excess magical energy and expire soon after. Is this the manifestation of Asgon's will? Revenge for their destruction of his Legion?

THE WAR FRONT The Imperium's grip squeezes tighter on the south, with more and more forces pouring southward with every day the war dragons on. From a dozen different Black Legions to strange and exotic outfits such as the Kaldanari Blue Cavaliers, a new army seems to appear to help in the war effort. Numbers aren't everything however, the increasing presence of Imperial forces just stretches supply-lines further, and even light partisan activity can halt entire armies with such a delicate supply system. The destruction of the White Tower, however, has shifted things. The only area with Magi yet standing is Rone, where it seems only a matter of time until some Imperial agent organizes enough of a response to take the city. With the Pale gone, supplies meant for the east have begun to move west, though corruption and guerrillas near the city of Calvada and along the Aldar have made this still difficult, not to mention the destruction of Port Del Roi. Imperial forces have taken Loon, though the fortress of La Marselle stands, and with it, supplies still refuse to flow to the southern front where Aldari forces have managed to push nearly to Toulose. Sir Lacronon has fallen, however, and with the death of Del Grada, Aldari forces have stalled in their attempt to push the Imperials from the southern beaches. Near Avermont, with Dascogne pacified and partisans in the area in general temporarily beaten back, Fortresse De Feu has fallen, and with Fortresse De Aldar falling to the shocktroops of the Imperial Guard and local Black Legion forces, Aldari forces have made a general retreat to the town of Anjon, where they hope to harass Imperial forces and hold them from Avermont as long as possible.
--PLAYER FACTIONS--
Wealth: LOW Influence: LOW Reputation: LOW Favor: FORGOTTEN Traits: -Fearsome The Nightblades may have been forgotten, but their name carries a sinister reputation. ~ Unknown, 95 LE

-The Nightblades have had a long history as possibly the greatest crew for wet work in the known world. Led by the necromancer only known as the Medusa, the Nightblades have only recently been brought under the servitude of the Uniter. Hired by the Seekers to eliminate Asgon and assist them in their struggle, little is known about the attempt on Asgon other than the fact that it, of course, failed. Soon after, however, the Nightblades were given an offer they could not refuse, and after a brief internal struggle that ended with the Medusa in charge of the organization, they soon accepted Imperial hegemony. This, however, did not end in glory for the Nightblades, or safety. After being regulated to a series of small jobs while larger and more esteemed assassin's groups in the Imperium received the lion share of work, the Nightblades were given a single task, eliminate the Duke-Regent of Vilski. Their attempt, however, was disastrous, and only the intervention by Dagon Fel and the Shadowed Sons ended with the Regent dead, well after his death would have been useful for the Imperium. Some, in hushed voices in shadowed halls, whisper that Dagon Fel organized the failure to halt the progress of a possible rival, though who can say for sure? The Nightblades, however, seem intent on recovering their pride and the respect from the rest of the Imperium. Given a new, last series of orders, the assassins have gotten back to work with gusto. -On the southern Aldari front, Aldari forces have begun to rally around General Del Grada, a controversial leader, he is nevertheless an experienced one and over sixty years of service have made him a rather shrewd commander. Or at least, he was a shrewd commander. While travelling on the front with his men, agents of the Nightblades descended upon him and his escort of two dozen. The proceeding battle, at least by the estimate of those who found the remains, was a slaughter. His escort had been killed to a man, brutally murdered before most could even pull their swords from their sheaths. Del Grada himself was found up against a tree, his head removed from his body, his breaches still stained with piss from the horrifying sight he had witnessed before expiring. The symbol of the Nightblades, not seen on a real mark for years, was cut deep into his chest. -With the death of Del Grada, the southern front has fallen into disarray. Local Aldari army forces have almost fallen to infighting as they desperately try to decide who is to take Del Grada's old post, and while General Delvon Blanc and his approaching men have attempted to restore order, rapidly moving soldiers from the 33rd Legion have tied up his forces and stopped him from taking charge in the situation. -Sadly, Imperial efforts in the area are still bogged down by the incompetence of the local commanders of the marine force and from the chronic lack of supplies from the destruction of Port Del Roi, and the planned offensive to the fortress of Crozan stalls. With Crozan still supplying Aldari forces in the south with supplies and recycling their wounded, Imperial forces continue to face staunch resistance as they attempt to link up with northern forces. The Nightblades still make a show in Crozan however, poisoning wells, assassinating key figures and doing everything they can to disrupt it. Sadly, the fortress continues unstopped, though morale there is rapidly dropping as the symbol of the Nightblades has been found in every nook and cranny of the fort.

Wealth: AVERAGE Influence: LOW Reputation: LOW Favor: FORGOTTEN Traits: -Bankers The Banking Clan of Avermont is less of a formal organization under Asgon and more of an independent one contracted to him, despite being under Imperial rule. One of the noble families that stood against Aver, in punishment for daring defy the Aldari hero, they were outcasted from the nobility and their family slowly faded into the background of Kingdom politics. Jude Gray, current patriarch of the family, has managed to reestablish them somewhat thanks to the Imperial invasion, hoping to use it as a springboard to reestablish the family in the Kingdoms yet again. Sadly, incompetence in the Imperial finance sector has troubled his plans, especially as the northern barbarian, Grimgor Ironcleaver, has managed to shrewdly usurp control of the entirety of the Imperial banking sector, and has begun using it as a personal way to loot as much money as possible. Asgon is happy as long as Grimgor keeps the money flowing, and the rest of the Imperium is too embroiled in the mess in the south to pay much attention to the Kingdom's banks, so for now, Grimgor has been allowed to run loose with the books. -The Bankers remain relatively quiet for the time being, keeping themselves away from the public eye, perhaps waiting until Asgon's conquest is over to make any real moves. The only move that is done in the open is the Banker's slow attempt to re-establish old trade routes they had lost over the years, and renting out their small number of guardsmen to other guilds and merchant groups as caravaneers. This proves surprisingly successful, and with brigandage rife in the war torn south, the Banking Clan not only finds a readily open market for able guards, but one for trade in general. With most of the old big names in the south dead and buried with the conquest, those merchants remaining act like fish out of water, desperately jumping at the first hint that somebody is out there willing to trade. The Banking clan profits well from its caravaneering, though it benefits even more in the connections it makes. Surprising how people put down their prejudices when they need something. -There are only hints and rumors at the Banks other doings. Some agents have been identified in the cities of Prins, though nobody knows what they're really doing there. A minor incident ends with a man with the crest of the Banking Clan stabbed to death in a bar fight near the city center, and soon after the agents there seem to go to ground.

Wealth: LOW Influence: LOW Reputation: LOW Favor: DISPLEASED Traits: -Hunters The Weizmin are renowned beast hunters. While some under the Imperial boot have blossomed, others have wilted, and the Weizmin are one such order. Finding the Black Legions a constant drain on their work and with numerous other groups freely competing for the chance to hunt the monsters of the world, which have begun a slow march to extinction under Asgon, many have wondered if the Weizmin would even be able to persist into the modern world. After several of their number were killed attempting to hunt a monster, and many others lost to the attrition of their job, the Order is now small and ailing. Their largest competitors, Riley's Renegades, led by the infamous mercenary (or bandit, depending on who is asked), Captain Byrd Riley, have eclipsed the Weizmin and won the favor of Asgon. Rumor has it they have sabotaged the Weizmin at every turn, up to killing several of their members in an ambush. -Riley's Renegades have been given a rather exclusive contract by Asgon himself to kill the Pale Demon, a beast that has, for centuries hunted the people of the Pale. Supposedly, the Magi had figured out a way to turn it to their will, and it has begun hunting down Imperial soldiers and slave rebels. While the Renegade's contract was exclusive, the Weizmin, perhaps with something to prove, have decided to pursue the monster themselves on their own time. Several of the Weizmin have been spotted across the Pale (or at least, what's left of it) questioning villagers on the beast's location and studying the legends about it. The Renegades have, so far, done nothing besides publicaly make several threats to the Weizmin, though it has become a rather public competition, public support seems to be on the side of the Weizmin. -The Weizmin, however, are drafted by the Black Legion to work under the Southern Legion Command, the organizing force over all Imperial armies still fighting. A bureaucratic nightmare of consistent incompetence, the Southern Legion Command's first action was to take away most of the Weizmin and throw them into the front lines as shock troopers in the most dangerous areas of the south. Over a dozen were killed by friendlies in the destruction of Port Del Roi, and many more were killed being thrown at any forces on the southern front alongside Imperial forces in their failed naval invasion of the south. One of the orders they received, however, was taken up by Rodrik Galewyn, 'leader' of the Weizmin, personally. To take the fortress of Linderfort on the border between Aldari and the Pale. The fort had been under siege when the Weizmen arrived, by a horde of slave soldiers attempting to take the last fort in the southwest for their own, and a smaller force of members of the Imperial Guard trying to find a way to take the fort despite their minuscule numbers. While Galewyn was fully expected to fail in his mission, he threw off most expectations when he managed to get an audience with the 'Redheart', an ancient Magi who had been a minor nuisance to most of the Magi of the Pale for over a hundred years, but now believed himself to be the last defender of the Magi, and the chosen one to destroy Asgon. He was convinced away from his dilussions by Galewyn, and struck a deal which shocked all, the Magi would be allowed to keep their slaves, as long as they swore fealty to Asgon. This was surprising, as the slaves had been winning their war against the Magi with gusto, and most had expected Asgon to side with them in their struggle. When the Black Legion ships landed at the fortress and relieved their defenders, the Magi were taken prisoner. The promise, that they'd be allowed to keep their slaves and swear fealty to Asgon, was kept. However, the deal said nothing of how the Magi were to be treated afterwards, and the Magi of Linderfort were promptly executed, apparently at the order of Asgon. The Redheart was hung from the single remaining tower of the Linderfort, after a long session of torture, and the message was made clear. At the show, and as emissaries from the Imperium reached the slave camps, most of the slaves around Linderfort began defecting to the Imperium, especially with most of their brethren at the White Tower dead.

Wealth: LOW Influence: LOW Reputation: LOW Favor: PLEASED Traits: -Artifact Hunters The Archivists are experts on the retrieval and handling of items of power, some recently made, some older than any can even imagine. Founded near the beginning of Asgon's conquests when many of his enemies brought powerful artifacts to oppose his will, the Archivists were formed to both retrieve items for the Imperium's use and to find and 'acquire' these powerful artifacts used by her enemies. As time went on, the Archivists grew from a small guild of a dozen men to hundreds, scouring over the known world (and much of the unknown) for a chance to find the next great piece of arcana for Asgon's use. For a time, the Archivists were a strong and respected order, with a massive group of explorers, thieves, magi and soldiers under their banner, all dedicated to organizing the largest repertoire of magical goods in the Imperium. This was, however, the past. The Arcanist's grew too powerful for their own good as time went on, took too many artifacts, and began to draw the attention of those they didn't realize at the time were their competition. When much of the Archivists were lost entering the Pale with the Black Legions, Lord-Magi Selhart and his Black Practitioners saw their chance to bolster their power, and swooped down upon the weakened Archivists, stealing most of their remaining stock and killing those few who attempted to resist. One of the oldest, however, from a time when there was only one or two, is His Darkness' Revenue and Customs, led by the mysterious wizard Reginald 'Gold-Tongue' Goldsmith, the organization was formed after a group of Black Legion officers realized there was more money to be found in looting villages on their own instead of looting them on behalf of the Legion. Instead of turning to banditry, however, they turned to a similar yet slightly more legal art, tax collecting, and so His Darkness' Revenue and Customs was founded. Using his skills at magic, Goldtongue has created a small army of odd tax collectors, who, whenever killed, seem to simply return from the grave to continue their work. Recently, however, Revenue and Customs has seen better days, like many others. After they bankrupted one Lord Halifax Broc, the noble proceeded to cash in his remaining investments and favors and organized the Bureau of Fair Trade and Tax, which managed to usurp control of many of the taxing and merchant organizations across the Imperium. Thanks to Broc, taxation has been divided upon over a dozen different organizations around the Imperium, and a pile of restrictions have torn Revenue and Customs off its pedestal. -The first order of business for the year is an organized march on Dascogne, a rebellious Aldari city that has so far killed any tax collector threatening to come near. Goldtongue personally leads his agents to the town, and attempts to hire guards to assist them on the way. This attempt generally fails, with Revenue and Customs spending hefty sums of money that they don't really have for mercenaries that generally take the money and run soon after, though some scarce numbers join them. As the tax collectors approach Dascogne, however, they were attacked by a small force of villagers and former Aldari soldiers. The result is losses on both sides, but the villagers are beaten back, and the tax collectors manage to successfully overwhelm the town's defenses and force the citizens to pay income tax like civilized people. The taxmen set up an outpost in the town and begin cracking down on the town, intending to collect backpay and doing quite well at it. The schism this caused was severe, and dozens of Magi left with him, including all those who had followed him into the Deadlands. Shortly after the Unification Wars began, Selhart reappeared with his men, and began sowing discontent and growing his power across the free realms. Pale For hours, she watched. Her poison-green eyes scanned the crowd. The passing foot traffic across the streets paved with dark stones, the ragged peasants walked, ever fearful of the Black Sun. The sum of their fears examined them, with intent. Intent to advance her position in the eyes of he-who-unites, ever present in her mind. Contextually, she watched for a certain individual, the one who stepped with his own intent- to the beat of his own drum, over the beat of the petty, squabbling kings and princes. To that end, she watched until her prey approached. "Colbat... Mmm. There he is." Her finger traced a tile on the roof where she laid prone. She tapped ten times, slowly in a rhythm, and repeated it twice. A sign for her pet to strike. A black-hooded boy entered the crowd, walking behind the Archivist. Colbat unlocked the door to the office, slipping the key in his back pocket. As he walked in, a little hand slipped into his pocket, and gently seized the key out from it. The boy left the crowd in the same fashion as he entered, and crept into the alley nearby her beauty, as instructed. He threw it up onto the roofs, into her waiting hands. Three gold coins fluttered down in return. "Make your leave, boy." He scuttled away, and she waited until nightfall to proceed, as custom. She stalked the alleys behind the office, finding a back door to enter through. Colbat Taylor sat, writing something or other down with quill and parchment. An armchair was laid out behind him, where she took her spot, sprawling herself out liberally. "You know... I think I killed a Taylor, about a month ago. You wouldn't happened to be related, would you?" The Medusa waited for her response.
Colbat was deep in thought while writing. By the time Medusa had interupted him, he was almost in a dream-like state of mind. He blinked twice and looked arround the room confused before setting his eyes on the intruder. It took him a few seconds to regain his composure before standing up from his seat to face her. "Hmm, might have been one of my cousins. My great grandfather was a notorious womanizer. But I doubt you're here to discuss my family tree or kill me, otherwise I'd be with a slit throat. How can I help you lady Medusa?"
"The first step towards an ascetic mind, is to note that if I wanted you dead, I would have you in my claws already." She stretched herself out, purring, in an effort to seduce. "The second step, is to tell yourself that, instead of me. Perhaps you could show me that, by smiling a little? Lighten up, stud. I'm here to discuss business." Slowly, she rose. She paced, circling Taylor for half a minute, before stopping behind him. "Clearly, my reputation proceeds me, and that's just a beautiful thing, is it not? I can work with either or, to be completely honest. You will never know my true name." The Medusa traced a nail around the back of Colbat's neck... a cold, stinging nail. "And if you know my name, then you know what I can do. Me and my children. Did you hear about Del Grada? I'm sure you did. His ugly little head will soon adore the Savior's fireplace, and warm his heart. But, oh... I can do so much more, with your help." She tapped her nail onto the small of his neck, making sure not to embed. She knew that would mean surely the slow, painful death of dear, dear Colbat. "Artifacts. Arcana. Lore. I must build my collection. And you must build your archives. All for his glory. Or not. However you feel about it, sweet. The children can do the footwork, and I can deliver you your goods, in exchange for a little kickback. Together, oh..." She gripped his shoulders tightly, and brought her blackened lips to his ear, breathing in lightly. "...Together, we could blossom."
Colbat allowed himself a brief smile. Resting one hand on her own and placing ther other arround her waist. "Lovely and dangerous" He pulled her closer. "Like the black rose in the palace gardens." There was a moment of silence. Enough for him to think over her offer. The decision was obvious. "We have a deal. You help us with obtaining magical items and putting down would be heroes and in turn, we can offer you, lets call it 'special equipment'."
"Mmm... music to my little old ears." The Medusa stroked Colbat's back, allowing herself to lean on him for a wonderful moment, before pulling away. "Don't hesitate to give me a ring, precious. Just leave a message with your best man. We'll be following him." She placed two fingers to her lips, and blew a kiss in Colbat's direction. With a curtsy, she sauntered off, to leave the Archiver in peace. When he turned back to his work, he found his parchment adorned with symbols of open eyes.

Thanks again for the patience everybody, turns are due Sunday as previously said. New players still welcome! Here's a question, how should we handle wealth and money? Giving a straight number seemed a bit unfitting and difficult to manage, but the current system leaves a lot of questions about what you can and can't do. Any suggestions?
Calvada "This is it, is it?" He looked at the building where the bankers do their buisiness. Entering in, he could see the men at work. From the hardened guards standing at the entrance to the smaller workers filling out paperwork and aranging loans. Colbat had a certain admiration for the well oiled bureaucratic machine that was begining to form here. Perhaps he made the right choice. He aproached one of the free desks and coughed to gain the worker's attention. "I am here to talk to Jude Gray. Tell him that the Archivists want to do business with him and only him."
The accountant the man tried talking to did not look up from his paperwork, he had to finish up his report on the Farrows case. "Door in the back, knock three times and state your business to whoever answers." The accountant pointed to a tremendous double door in the back of the bank headquarters gilded with shining copper that one could see their reflection in. On either door was flanked a gray lion on a coat of red, the Coat of Arms of the house of Gray and stamp of the Banking Clan of Avermont. On either side was a tremendous guard in full armor wielding halberds and behind them antique paintings of aristocrats one may have guessed was from a time long past. The guards at the doors shifted their gaze towards the representative. Their stances perk up and they hold their halberds in both hands , prepared for anything.
"At ease gentlemen. I am here for talks. Nothing more." Colbat said as he aproached the door. He knocked three times before announcing. "I am Colbat Taylor, Grand Archivist of the Order of Archivists. I come here to strike a teal with you, master Gray."
The guards continued to eye the archivist as he knocked on the door and hollered, knowing that it was they who would later that day have to polish the copper doors they guarded. Then again they were mercenaries, their opinions didn't really matter anyhow. A few moments after the Archivist knocked upon the large doors another small wrinkled fellow opened the doors with far more ease than he should have. "What deal do you have with the Grand Proprietor of the Banking Clan Archivist? Here to take out a loan for book keeping? If so I would direct you to one of the tellers at the windows over there." the old man sniggered pointing to the barred windows where people lined up to deposit and collect money.
Colbat smiled briefly at the jab the banker threw at him. "Were my job so simple. No banker, I require your other services. You see, the Archivists are sworn to collect and study magical items and artefacts so that they can be of use to the Imperium and the one who rules us all. Now a basic need has come up. A place to store said items and your bank has a suitable place for such things no? And correct me if I am wrong, but housing and protecting valuable resources and assets of the Imperium would serve as a nice boost of stature of one's house, would it not? "
The old man stared dimly at the archivist and let out a sigh. "Very well Sir, follow me." He ushered in the archivist to follow in his stead. The room was smaller in comparison to the main bank but none the less exquisite. The coat of arms adorned the walls above books and records piled high. At the center of the room there was a large Oaken Desk surprisingly less cluttered than the room and remarkably organized. Above the desk stood an imposing figure in blue and gray attire looking out circular window of a golden color that seemed to be chipping, revealing the wood below. "Lord Gray, I present to you Head Archivist of the Archivist's guild. He claims to have business that deserves your utmost attention". A few moments passed before a the head of House Gray responded, his servant nearly shaking in anticipation. "Thank you Bartholomew, that will be all." He said without turning. The old man quickly bowed before scurrying out of the large doors, which surprisingly were not copper on the side in the room but gold of the same make as the window. "So...Archivist what is this business you have that requires my time?" Lord Gray slowly turned around revealing his ever scowling face and his piercing blue eyes that stared into the soul of the archivist, as if trying to make a judgement of character from his eyes.

I think wealth should be measured RPG style. Or you could use a rating system to describe it (a la AAA, AA, A etc)
A nice distinction of what is your actual spending power and your worth with assets would be nice.
The old man stared dimly at the archivist and let out a sigh. His eyes never breaking contact with Gray's. "... There are also another part that I believe would benefit you, but I am afraid that I am going to have to withhold it untill I am confident that you have made the right decision. "And what decision is it friend that I need to make? What assurance do you need to conduct business with one of the few remaining noble houses of the former lands of Aldari?" He asked, his voice stayed monotone though calmed a bit. Clearly settling in now that the prospect of a deal was finally in discussion.
"Just for your agreement to the deal, Lord Gray." Colbat smiled briefly before continuing. "My men will open up bank accounts for your bank, how they treat them is up to them, but you will find that they are a good investment. In return we hope that whatever items we recover and entrust to you, are well guarded."
