Welcome to Arva. This RP takes place on a fictional world where YOU can create a civilization to start with. There are several things to note in regards to this RP, especially the mechanics.
HOW THIS GAME WORKS
1) The turns are 3 years each turn, 8 lines maximum, until said so otherwise. Turns are in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, what you write first is what happens first.
2) Exploration is player-driven, meaning if you discover a new landscape, YOU get to name it, and it will be named on the map as such (please don't abuse this)!
3) The game has an overarching story that IS affected by most player actions.
4) Lore does exist, but it is scattered.
5) Magic exists, but users are few and far between, meaning that they are a precious weapon for an empire to have.
6) Your civilization CAN be destroyed.
7) Your empire has statistics that I keep track of, such as stability, strength, etc.
8) You build your species with traits. You get to choose a maximum of 5 traits for your race. Traits are assigned a certain number of points depending on if they are positive or negative, and the total number of trait points must be equalized to 0 or lower. (Trait points CAN NOT be positive by the end.)
9) Discovering new technologies is SLOW as well as building things.
10) What you do in your turns impacts your civilization's development of things like culture and other things.
This world has many wonders, but also many dangers. Some as old as creation itself. It will be up to you to find out what awaits you beyond your home and hearth. This world is cruel to the weak, and you must survive it to build your civilization from the ground up.

You can explore many regions of the world by sending explorers out of your borders to search for new lands for your people to farm, or for valuable resources that can be useful for your empire. Explorations is key to figuring out your surroundings and finding valuable land to settle/colonize. Exploration can also find you some... interesting things within the world...

Magic has a place in this world, and some individuals are attuned to a certain type of magic. There are 6 total, each with a variety of spells that each user can wield, depending on how well they can control their powers.
Elemental magic wielders tap into the four elements of fire, earth, wind, and water. The powers of the elements are at their disposal, and are to be reckoned with. Arcane magic wielders can create constructs out of pure light and ley for use in defense or offense, making their skillset powerful and unpredictable. Life magic wielders can tap into the very life of the planet, calling upon nature to fight for them, such as summoning beasts and plants to the battlefield.
Darker forms of magic exist as well... blood magic is powerful, calling upon pain and affliction and the user's enemies, but also damaging the wielder. Death magic allows the reanimation of corpses as slaves to fight for their master, a perversion of life itself, and also causing the user to be disconnected from life as well. Finally, shadow magic exists which wreaks havoc on reality itself upon its poor victims. However, the user itself too is changed in horrible ways...
Those stories your mother always told you, about the horrors of the night that steal souls or eat children... the ones that stalk in the shadows on the weak and sickly. Those that would bring about a horrible fate upon you... they're all true. Monsters exist in all manners across this world, some more dangerous and terrifying than others. Some that may not even be of this world...

A Statue of the God-King of the Satyrs, Silenus
Additional Info:
Long ago, it is said, the Satyrs frolicked in the meadows of paradise, drank from rivers of wine, and fornicated uncontrollably at a moment's desire. These times have long past, ages ago it seems, longer than any but the storytellers seem to recall; that is, except for Silenus. What could be said of the most ancient, wise, and divine of the Satyr, what worthy honor could one bestow upon him? Born from the very womb of the earth, fathered by the sky, he was there when the Satyrs crept from the dark forests and the mountains, of his own seed, and descended into the Meadows of the lands of paradise. He was there when the great cataclysm came, floods and fire brought upon the Satyr by the vindictive father, envious of the pleasures the Satyr enjoyed on the earth and their merriment. Silenus was there to lead the Satyr to salvation, defeating the sky in a battle of wits and winning for the Satyr their very lives. He brought them forth to the green lands where grapes grew in abundance, the forests rich in game, and the rivers teaming with fish. This land he called Nysa, and it was good, thusly the Satyr began worshipping their savior, son of the Earth and the Sky; God of the Satyr and Protector of all things good. Thus he ruled, and still rules evermore, protecting his children and kin; leading them to a better dawn and safeguarding the very salvation he won for them. It is he who we give thanks to, and to he who festivals, games, and holy orgies are committed in honor of. Hail God-King Silenus, Ruler of all Satyrs, and protector of the faun-folk.

I look upon the shores of Kottrvar and still see the small hamlet that it was in my childhood.
It was a sleepy farming village, snuggled cozily within its massive fjord.
Now, the peoples of the North acknowledge it. Kottrvar has placed itself on the map due to my efforts as Jarl.
They say there are lands beyond this bustling fjord. Beyond the Bay of Akatr. Kottrvar will yet grow, as will my fame and prestige. I will lead my people across the seas, to new raiding lands, and bring glory to my lineage. I know Seggir favors me, for I invoke his name in all my triumphs. They are his as they are mine.
I will blaze the path, and my people will follow. In my old age, I will gaze over the shores of Kottrvar once more, cluttered with ships, and buildings expanding infinitely into the distance, and hold dear my memories of the bustling little village that once was.

In the trees and plains of the Eastern lands, between a towering mountain and a glistening bay of the sea, lies the fledgling Strysavian Republic. A previously nomadic people, who halted their search for a home at the mouth of a river running from the Mountain to the Bay. With plenty of trees, open fields for farming, a mountain to dig into, and a sea to sail, there were plenty of resources to harvest in the Strysavian's new home.
This was many years ago. Now, a basic Capital has been built on the mouth of the river as it empties into the bay, "Iyreeyphia", an ancient Strys word for "Providence of the Forefathers" and the land is taking form under the careful stewardship of the Strysavians
'Free'-soldiers of the Solattran Militia, often posted as town guards or policing forces in times of peace, and more often drafted up to defend the state against its assailants in times of war.
Additional Info: The Solattran Free-State is an odd one within the western continent (Tìra gigantum, as the Solattrans call it.). It lies in a place of forests, hills and snow, and yet is home to one of the largest trading posts in the region, Solittus. Its neighbours boast magical attunement, and a much stronger willingness to fight, yet Solattra endures. The language and voices of the Solattrans indicate their less civilized roots, yet the rest of their culture and humanity is positively alien to the rest of the region.
The greatest differences lie within the realms of magic and theology. Where their surrounding neighbours can attest to a number of those attuned in the arts of sorcery, Solattra makes no such boast, instead relying on its mechanical strength and will of man to survive. This bleeds into their theology, where magic is not offered by any god that they believe in, but instead, they have a fierce, and almost fanatical lust for the discovery and harnessing of new technologies. Indeed, so much so, that Solattra's very religion is founded upon technological advancement. Their nigh-infinite lifespans aid their research, with many of the state's men of science having lived lives that any other man would consider an impossible feat, and still look well for it. Indeed, Amos Markellos has served as Baron for two centuries, leading his state into what many may now consider a golden age.
But, with nigh-unnatural powers, and lusts... one must always beware the ghost in the machine...

Additional Info:

It is said in the spoken histories that the Kichikichi once ruled from where it was sunny to where it was cold in the grand domain of Lote, the creator, sowed with seeds by his children and sung into life by beings unable to be seen by mortal eyes. Until the Blackening, where the Kichikichi had become too powerful wielding strange and dark magics, and Lote struck them down, locking away the secrets of the elements forever, and banishing them away to the deserts, where they dwell today. These histories are unique to the Konorom, a tribe of Kichikichi who make home at the mouth of the Khilid River, known for the bright red stones that dot its streams. Thus where Lord-Leader Koloman derives his nickname from, 'Bright-Eyes', for the shiny stones that adorn his four rings on each hand.
The desert and steppes surrounding the Konorom brim with other Kichikichi tribes, each with their own sets of lore and creation myths, throwing the 'history' of the Kichikichi into doubt. Similarities can be drawn between these tribes- each but a few revere Lote, and many tribes claim reasons for lacking magical ability, save the rare soothsayer and divinator. These wise men are known to be heralds for the Kichikichi when they appear, and may not be Kichikichi themselves on occasion. They are said to divine and tell when the next Grand-lord will arrive and unite the tribes of Kichikichi, who when they are not quarreling among themselves, are known to be quite a terror to those who may threaten them, or defeat their conquests.
The Konorom are divided into four clans, who have distinct practises- the Burani, who outsiders often see, are leal tradesmen and diplomats for the Konorom- the Rolani, who focus on scholarly pursuits and exploration beyond the deserts- the Heruni, who revere magic and often produce soothsayers- and the Iurni, those most in touch with Lote, and who are disgusted with magic and do rituals to protect themselves against it. Many Kichikichi tribes have similar cultures, often nearly identical if recently split off from another tribe, and these tribes fight for dominance when the Lord-Leader dies. Koloman Bonorad hails from the Rolani, and when a tribe settles on an elected ruler, who serves for life, it is known that the tribe will focus deeply on the whims of that Lord-Leader's clan.

For as long as there has been Tauru, there has been the spoken word, and with it carries all of its history, unchanged by the ravages of memory and politic. At this point however, interest in the old treading grounds has faded, and the people see a new milestone as the true start of Tauru history. Some would decry their culture and civilisation as crude and simplistic, yet it has bound the tribes tighter than the mightiest and most elaborate pacts of blood and oath, and any disputes are solved in a most brilliant and brutal combat. But as the grass grew thinner, so too did the herds. It was time then that the race would move to pastures new, and the world trembled as their hooves stomped the earth as one.
It all started in the eastern steppes of Narcuda...
