In the year of our lord 1784, former general and American hero George Washington went on an expedition to western Pennsylvania to survey land he owned there. While out on the trip, he caught a terrible case of pneumonia, leaving him bedridden for days. Though after a month of illness, he recovered from the sickness, it left him frail and with a permanent cough. Three years later, a convention of the states was held in Philedelphia, PA to discuss reforms of Articles of Confederation and their failure to govern. Washington was invited to lead the convention, but due to his health, he solemnly turned it down, stating, "The future of America will be governed by the future generations." Delegates from all states disputed ways of reform, and eventual replacement of the Articles of Confederation. A Virginia Plan was proposed giving large states more power, along with a New Jersey Plan to counter it for smaller states. As the convention continued over the weeks, partisanship grew between federalists and anti-federalists. After unending debate, Rhode Island withdrew from the convention. Patrick Henry, leading the anti-federalists, then withdrew Virginia's delegation from Philly. With the most populous, and central state, of the union gone, the convention unraveled. Disputes over territories west resulted in the rest of the southern states withdrawing, along with Connecticut. The remaining delegates concluded that the United States could no longer function as a united country, publishing a declaration:
We the People of the United States, unable to form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our States, do veto and disassemble these United States of America.
The following year, in 1788, in disputes with Richmond over its ban over trade with New Spain in New Orleans, its inability to quickly deal with Indian attacks on settlers, and difficulty with communication through the Appalachian Mountains, the people in western Virginia seceded from the state to form the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Virginia, having no military and money in the treasury, begrudgingly let the territory go though has yet to officially recognize it as independent. Afterward, with the failures of the current governor and his successes in championing state's rights in Philly, Patrick Henry won the election to become the first President of Virginia. Despite his failures to secure a more perfect union, Alexander Hamilton returned to his native state of New York. The state, along with much of the Northeast, was in political turmoil with the British pressing American sailors into naval service and no federal government to protect their rights. With the election of 1789, Hamilton easily won the presidency for the state. Now the year is 1790 and the people of the formerly united states are finally coming to terms with their individual independence. Georgia is in turmoil, dealing with Indian wars and contesting western territories with the superpower Spain. New Englanders are worried over the increasing pressing of American sailors into the Royal Navy while tariffs in Pennsylvania and Maryland eat away at shipments of southern cotton to the north. North Carolina's colonization of its land claims west are slowed due to the same Indian issues that plague Virginia and Kentucky. The British continue to become more aggressive in their claims over Maine while continuing to maintain old fortifications in western New York and elsewhere. The fate of the Northwest Territories has become a free land grab to any state - or company - that settles it, though hostility of Indians and the advancement of British claims are forcing colonization to slow. The state's only reliable ally, France, has just become engulfed in a revolution and is unable to help the young republics in North America.

Welcome to the Disunited States RP. Players will base themselves in a coastal state as a company determined to colonize the free lands of the west. They must deal with populating a region, securing a reliable government, passify Indians and prevent others from invading. After all is said and done, they can declare independence as a new state in North America.
For States: Ten Lines, dividing however you please between Domestic Affairs: How you deal with your internal politics, governing, economy, slaves, and Indians on your land. Foreign Affairs: Anything involving deals with other countries, whether they be North American or European. Military Affairs: Build up your armies and navies from scratch here For Joint-Stock Companies: Ten lines, dividing however you please between Speculation: Any way you are making money to finance this colony and recruiting colonists Construction: The wild wilderness of the west is...well, wild and wilderness and civilized Americans do not live in tee-pees Militia: Anything involving protecting your settlements, whether it be hiring Hessian mercenaries to building up local militia minute-men

Starting Facts: -The south likes slaves. If you play a southern state and immediately begin working toward abolition, do not be surprised when the people of the state begin to rebel. On the flip side, be wary of slave revolts and try not to let them grow to large. -The states enjoy their independence. Though there are some nationalists and federalists throughout each state, each republic has come around with the positives of remaining independent. Trying to reform the United States could happen, but it will not be easy nor will it happen quickly. -The British are a threat and dislike each state. The British still feel the sting of their lost war and still occupy a number of forts along the Canadian border in New York and Maine. With no federal government in America, the British have no contest over colonizing the Northwest Territories any longer and will eventually try to capitalize on that. -You are broke with no army. There was very little national army at this point historically, and with the US disbanded, each state is on its own to form its military from scratch. There are local militias to protect against Indian raids in some parts, but no one has a standing army or navy to immediately invade their neighbor. Of course, states with larger populations will have an easier time protecting their territories than smaller state. -Founding fathers have been resigned to their home state. Maryland can't put John Adams in office while New Hampshire can't elect Thomas Jefferson. If they were formal federalists, I will let it be up to the player if they want to capitalize on that or allow them to have the historic character "change his mind". Alexander Hamilton and Patrick Henry are governors of their states at start because they were the only two that historically had a governor election between 1787 and 1790. If you want to put one in office in later turns, knock yourself out. -The people like democracy. The colonies were democratically run long before 1776, so trying to change the government into a monarchy (or anything else) - while not impossible - will be hard, at least at first. Also, at the moment only free white male landholders can vote in each state. -Spain is unhappy with the South. Especially in regard with Georgia, the Spanish Empire is unhappy with with the southern states due to land disputes, with the exception of Kentucky whom they are very happily trading with.

RP Resources This probably is not a time period most are familiar about, especially for non-Americans. Here are some maps and websites to help with that (I will be using them as well for reference for the RP) http://users.humboldt.edu/ogayle/hist110/colonial.html - A defunct university website about colonial America. A lot of the information is generalized, but it has a plethora of excellent map references, especially for locations of Amerindian tribes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1790_United_States_Census#Data - Where I got all population numbers https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/208609244772040704/272765584205152258/MapStatecessions.png - The original map I based the RP map off of, courtesy of Griffster26 Population Densities and locations: Upper states Lower states

Player List: Native Hunter - Republic of New York Griffster26 - Commonwealth of New England FoxwolfJackson - Republic of New Jersey Joshuadim - Commonwealth of Virginia Jsoldier - Republic of North Carolina Sobotnik - Cherokee Nation Pezgod1 - Courtenay and Sons Land Company Ruski v2.0 - Republic of Georgia Trebgarta - Friedricksstadt Colony, Texas Snoberry - Ór Nua Agricultural Cooperative, Nova Scotia Damian0358 - the mighty oak tree, located somewhere in Michigan near Detroit

How naval battles work: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=51778169&viewfull=1#post51778169 Naval Ship Unlocks: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=52451970&viewfull=1#post52451970 Expediting Naval Construction: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=52460244&viewfull=1#post52460244 Turn 1: 1790 - https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=51769832&viewfull=1#post51769832 Turn 2: 1791 - https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=51844036&viewfull=1#post51844036 Turn 3: 1792 - https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=51954192&viewfull=1#post51954192 Turn 4: 1793 - https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=52414667&viewfull=1#post52414667 Turn 5: 1794 - https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=52445927&viewfull=1#post52445927 Turn 6: 1795 - https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=52481742&viewfull=1#post52481742 Turn 7: 1796 - https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1550474&p=52525543&viewfull=1#post52525543

Important Notices: I do not have a whole lot of free time on my hands, so when turns get published will not be immediate. Please be patient as it may take up to a couple weeks before the next turn is out. Also because of my lack of free time, please help me help you by doing as much research into the history of the era and your state and tell me about it to help put your turns together - because god knows Native Hunter is doing research I am also opting out of having technology in this RP, at least at first to see how it goes. I would like to see where the RP goes when it is just player politics and social experiments instead of new states with super weapons of the future. Assume inventions that occurred historically happen when they do, however you can implement them in any way you wish afterward.
CLICK HERE FOR GENERAL CHAT FOR OOC CONTENT

Added a player list map to visually see who is on it. Pezgod and Damian are not shown
I have New York Cherokee Nation Virginia Courtenay Land Company An Oak Tree in Michigan North Carolina I need Massachusetts Georgia --- I also need flags from everyone. Only Native Hunter sent in a flag, and it needs to be resized.
I have turns from everyone now, though Georgia's needs....heavy revision. I have 4 turns finished, going to work on the rest in the next couple of days. Hoping to get it out Saturday, Friday night at the latest. Also fun fact: The Cherokee Nation is a Slave State apparently
seems like it only started (the european model of slavery) in the cherokee at this time, and they don't seem to have many less than 600 slaves even in 1809, i am poor even in humans :c
Yeah, there's no exact numbers so I'm assuming it's just a few hundred and probably not massive amount of the total population (which numbers I couldn't find, I'm estimating the cherokee population is around 30,000-40,000 based on what I read from later censuses). Less slaves than New York but probably a few more than New Hampshire.
I have all turns and I only have two turns left to write. One thing I found interesting in doing this first turn is that every singe player had a completely different route to building their country's army. (as oppose to the navy, which anyone who built a navy basically did it the same exact way) Damian's will probably be the most effective however :yarr:
being a landlocked nation, i have no need for what the white man calls "navies"
being a landlocked nation, i have no need for what the white man calls "navies"
Not even brown-water navies?
being a landlocked nation, i have no need for what the white man calls "navies"
Your rivers shall be mine, mwahahaha
