Finding stability in the new practice of agriculture a continuous food source has launched many peoples into the creation of villages, towns, and in some places, Cities. This safety in farming has let humans specialize their own trade, learn how to perfect them, and invent new tools that can help them with it. Truly this revolution in Humanity's existence is the pinnacle of human development ! Or is it? Across the world where people have settled down into these communities there is competition for lands, tribes quickly sprout out and with them war bands, hellbent on securing the rich and fertile lands for their people as well as slaves to help them work them, for what wise man tills his own field? Whispers on the wind call them Harappans, named after the city they come from, they are for their expert and ornate pottery, fetching many good hides and bushels of grain at market. They depict the Ancestors of the Harappans, intertwined with the images of divine spirits that watch over and protect their descendents. The Elephant, Auroch, Cobra, and Monkey central among these spiritual protectors. They are present in many aspects of daily life, with new farms and buildings dedicated to the ancestors of its owner and their animal protector. In this land of animal spirits and colorful pottery a great man arose. A man called Satyavant, coming from the order of priests that had the task of blessing land he is said to have been blessed with visions from the ancestors and spirit world, guiding him on to lead Harappa to glory. With such Powers Satyavant quickly rose the ranks of the priesthood, obtaining lands and wealth along the way, soon enough his secular wealth outnumbered his spiritual, being said to have owned over a thousand heads of cattle, three hundred slaves, and pleasured by fifty concubine. Satyavant used his wealth and prestige to declare himself Raja, or ruler, of the Harappan tribes, and while many priests were left brooding over one of their own giving into such debauchery their shouts were drowned out by the support of the common man. With such a following Satyavant ordered the creation of a banner for the city and the expansion of Farms along the great river that flowed beside the city. Many rice paddies cropped up and cereal plots with them. Soon enough the city experienced many bountiful harvests, the surplus becoming a boon for farmers but a hassle for tax collectors and the priests that stored the crops. Thanks to the discovery of an acolyte of the Cobra spirit, drawing pictures in clay he soon realized that his pictures could be used to represent a farmer’s harvest, and how much they reaped! However after drawing a bull for every auroch owned and rice stalk for every bushel harvested the pictures began to devolve in complexity soon becoming scribbles of lines that came to represent things. The first written language was invented for the people of the Indus. However this was not the only consequence of Satyavant’s rule, as he ordered the construction of new houses and homes to house a growing population, thanks in part to the food surplus. This rise in construction led to the development of a unique architecture where large stones, logs, and mud bricks intertwined with some houses developing ornate designs with stones being aligned to form door frames and mosaics. However the rise in cramped housing and population soon led to some drinking water being polluted by waste, causing a cholera outbreak that wiped out a quarter of the city. Yet Satyavant, hoping to get attention away from such an ill omen ordered that the Harappan tribes begin to muster their forces for a great expansion to acquire more lands for their people, and wealth for himself. The tribes surrounding Harappa proved little opposition to the Mighty army of the city state, with many of the disorganized villages and towns falling swiftly to Harappan looting and subjugation, many slaves being brought back in the process. This gained the ire of many of their new subjects, but with little strength or opportunity to rebel the tribes stayed quiet as the Harappan’s returned home victorious. It was on the return from these conquests that the Great Satyavant discovered many shiny and pretty stones that had a yellow and green hue. They were soon fashioned into a necklace that the Raja could be seen wearing daily. So precious in fact that when he died, they were present with him on the pyre, cremation being a common practice for priests of the Cobra. Great winds blew beneath the great rulers flames encouraging them to burn brighter and hotter. When they died down it was discovered that the King’s stones had melted and become something malleable, something that could be crafted into other trinkets. The Yellowstone was quickly made into a sort of Ring worn by the Raja’s successor, a symbol of house of Satyavant that would be passed down through the ages.
Nuren: Pezgod1 Government Type: Tribal Monarchy Religion: Shamanism/God-King (Nuren)
The Nile, the blue snake that flows through the vast desert and giver of life to all things. It is upon the mouth of this vast waterway the Nuren, nomads from the distant fertile crescent have made themselves a home. Led by a ancient man, said to be the incarnation of the Sun itself Corudin, the Nuren founded their great city Euklid amongst the gardens of the Nile delta. There many temples made from a hardened brick, twice fired, dot the streets and provide travellers and denizens alike with fortunes, guidance, and blessings of the Sun, who after the death of Corudin is said to be embodied by the King of the Nuren, leading to the title for the King as “Lord of the Earth and Sky”. In these smoky rooms the shamans of the Nuren go into trance like states where they can communicate with the dead, and become possessed by the spirit of the Sun itself for a brief time. However on rare occasions many choose to forget shamans are possessed by the Moon, and kill their clients, going on violent sprees until they are put down. Leading to a great fear of night and the dark by the Nuren. However the people of the sun are not simply fearful men, a great military expedition is pushed forward along the Nile to expand the demesne of the Lord of the Earth and Sky, however they do not get very far when a great sandstorm washes over the main expedition party in the dead of night, choking and killing hundreds of men, forcing them back to their borders. Disgruntled but not disheartened by this outcome the King opts to take a different approach to expansion and securing the borders of his people. Scouts and agents are sent far and wide, to bring back word of local geography and the inhabitants of these lands. In addition many scouts are accompanied by squads of troops who set up watch towers and patrols along the Nile, keeping crocodiles and hippos away from farms, and and striking down any Brigands that present themselves, making farmers feel much safer in expanding their farms and colonists more adventurous. At home a new practice has taken root amongst the shamans, who begin to construct small mounds and step like structures at the top of which prayer and reverence is given to the Sun. These mounds are accessible to all Nurens and many can be found wherever soldier's rest and scouts make contact. However this is not the only oddity found amongst the Nurens, Camels and Horses begin to make their way into the Nuren diet as they begin to be herded by shepherds for their leather, meat, and as pack animals with strong and large ones being selected over the weaker for breeding, leading to Nuren Camel and Horse meat to find their place in the pots of many on the Lower Nile, and outside of many merchant homes. However this is not the only food found on the plates of Nurens as they begin to remember the regular flooding times of the Nile and plant their crops accordingly, seeing great success that brings in a tremendous surplus of food and immigrants to the once nomadic people. However with such benefits the taxation of collection of these goods becomes harder, until a tax collector realizes he can draw pictures on clay to represent the quantity of grain harvested and how much is to be taxed. These pictographs spread like wildfire, however as time is a precious thing, the quality of these pictures soon began to deteriorate as a distinct language in writing came to be formed by the Nuren.
Strysavian Collective Snoberry Tea Government Type: Religious Oligarchy Religion:Shamanism (Strysavian)
The Strysavaian are a unique people, being found so far North and away from many other peoples they grow strong and rugged, untrusting of outsiders, and harsh to any who oppose them. The large men of the Strysavian are known for their strong belief in a pantheon of gods, centered around war, vengeance, trickery, justice, and honor, these deities compel the Strysavians to raid and expand as they see fit, however keeps them to a strict code of honor that ensures no arbitrary action is met unjustly. Ruled by a collection of prominent Priests, shamans, and soothsayers, they ensure that the will and laws of the Gods are upheld for all to bear witness to. It is from this warrior tradition and honor-code that warbands and militias begin to be formed and trained weekly in the village and town centers to protect them. However while successful, many of these militias remain without strong leadership, often relying on local shamans to lead these farmers, who’d rather be tending their fields than working in the training yards. The Collective also orders the construction of a large temple in the center of the capitol from where food, weapons, and goods can be stored and re-distributed to the populace. Made of large stones, mud, and logs it is quite the site, and after 50 years of standing collapses, however the impact of it is left, and many temple-like structures begin to appear throughout Strysavian lands holding a similar purpose. However these new structures are made almost entirely of logs, carved stone, and a mix of mud and clay to hold them together, creating more solid structures that begin to pop up across the collective, though reserved mainly for religious structures. Orders are also given to send out people from the cities and towns to create new farms and orchards, with many staples such as parsnips, turnips, and rye being grown alongside fruits like apples, pears and damsons. Smaller orchards are also cultivated for different types of berries like raspberries and blackcurrants which go well when crushed and spread onto bread. Yet while the Strysavian’s maintain a strong tradition from tilling the soil they also begin a reputation for their skill with animals, as wild rams and sheep, brought by traders, and found eating berries in the orchards are corralled and overtime tamed by the Strysavians, used for their wool, meat, and milk, which in addition to the many plants cultivated by the Strysavians provides for a more balanced diet. With a food surplus and strong nature the Strysavians begin to expand along their coastlines, finding it more difficult to press against the mountains, soon enough Strysavian orchards and farms pop up more along the coast, their ornate temples attracting traders and travellers from the south as well.
Sicani Jsoldier Government Type:Tribal Monarchy Religion: Shamanism/God-King (Sicani)
In the middle of the great sea that is the Mediterranean there is an island, and on that island is the Sicani. Known to their neighbors as the Children of the Ocean. According to the priests of the Sicani their race came from the sea, walking out covered in barnacles and crab shells, their king a literal son of the Ocean. However they soon dropped their oceanic exterior however you can take the Sicani out of the sea, but you can’t take the sea out of the Sicani. These “sea” men travel to their beaches whenever a child is born, where under the guidance of a priest their children are dipped into the waves to cleanse them from their earthly birth and consecrate them as one of them. The Sicani, though birthed from the sea, are not without need for protection on land. Militias quickly form by order of the king to protect their villages. These militias are mainly made up of volunteers, many having acquired their kit from their fathers or acquired them in past conflict. This tradition of Volunteer style units turns these militiamen into a sort of social class, where it becomes a privilege to serve in the village militia and protect your family and lands. The most elite of these volunteers is sent to the court of the King, the Son of the Sea, where they serve as they serve as his personal bodyguard. Soon enough the finest and richest fighters can be found in the King's company, and soon enough this bodyguard position becomes near hereditary, with the richest fighters becoming bodyguards to the king. The elders also begin to take up a larger role in society, rather than just continuing stories of their ancestors to their kin but to the whole tribe as a whole. Elderly storytellers become quite prominent figures throughout the Sicani lands as stories of great heroes, adventurers, villains, and general family histories can be heard in areas marked off for such events, establishing a deep oral history for the Sicani that is treasured and near sacred. Many elders are also tasked however to teach the children of the tribe in the ways of hunting, farming, fishing, and fighting (With help from younger folk of course). Arguably improving the general knowledge of farming practices and how best to skin a rabbit. Those who show truly exceptional fighting ability, if not already destined to be part of the militia, are given gear to join, helping bolster the already impressive force of the Sicani. Militiamen also begin to the dual purpose of not only protecting their villages but helping to fortify the coastal villages from possible threats from the sea, and by land. Resulting in wooden palisades going up around many of these villages. However as stands the only threats that have resulted from the sea have been a beached whale, and a reported two deaths to shark attack. Yet not all was well with the Sicani, after a series of droughts and planting at the wrong time a famine swept across their lands, killing thousands of people, a new focus was put into ensuring the Sicani are well fed and they were not put at the complete mercy of the land again. Firstly the king ordered priests of the Sea to work on marking down when growing season began and ended, when best to plant, and when to harvest, Thus establishing a rudimentary calendar based on pictures of the seasons and lines representing how long they were. Secondly a system of internal trade was developed where fishermen begin to transport and sell their catch to villages in the interior in exchange for part of their harvest. However with many batches of fish going bad from not travelling inland fast enough, one wise fisherman got the idea to mimic the log rolling system that helped build shrines to the Ocean and inadvertently invented a wheel made of wood, putting it onto a cart the fisherman was able to travel much faster, making sure fish reached the inland on time for eating. This development helped save many when the next famine rolled around, greatly reducing the cost of it. With this more secure food network underway the Sicani decided to pay homage to the Ocean, many new shrines made of large stones, chipped away where they were quarried and then transported via rollers, were built along the coasts with a central sacrificial table where animals, and occasionally people, were given to the sea as offerings. However with all their progress one thing plagued the Sicani, the lack of unity on their island. This kept the Son of Sea up many of nights, beseeching his divine father to give him the answer to how to unite their island. The answer came in the form of a disastor to their neighbors the Sikeloi and Elymoi as a tsunami hit the former and plague the latter leaving both peoples in dire straits. With expert tact and charity the Elymoi and Sikeloi both agreed to bend the knee and unite with the Sicani in exchange for aid and the equal treatment of all peoples of the island. Soon, in a grand ceremony in the Sicani capital the Kings of the Elymoi and Sikeloi presented their crowns to the Son of the Sea, who united the three crowns into a single one, symbolizing that the isle of Sicily was now united.
Xia Dynasty Joshuadim Government Type: Tribal Monarchy Religion: Heaven Worship/God-King
On the banks of the Yellow River in a far distant land in the east, a dragon stirs, a dragon that is little more than a gecko now, but with time can become a force to be reckoned with. On the estuary where the sea meets this great river the capital of the so called “Xia” was founded. Known as Luoyang it is a sight many in the world would never dream of seeing, a large city comprised of houses, tanneries, small wooden temples, and a large palace near the center of it all. Made of stone, wood, mud, and clay the palace is a testament to the attitude and faith of the Xia in the “Son of Heaven”, their sovereign believed to be descended from the very skies themselves and given to the world by the sheer charity of the divine. Belief and fealty to him is total, and only the most barbarous and heathenistic would defy him. This belief in the emperor has led to the state popularized philosophy of putting the state’s needs before one’s own. The most extreme example of this came from a subsistence farmer, who instead of tending to his fields, left them to fight in for the emperor, resulting in the death of his family, failure to pay taxes, and subsequent execution. However, this mindset that farmers are working towards the benefit of the state and emperor tends to hold more sway over farmers who view the emperor more divinely, than the city folk who see him as he is. Knowing his sway over the village folk is far more secure the emperor sets about designating the creation of several new farming and fishing villages near the capital to both provide food for it and act as a buffer in case of any sort of incursion against the seat of heaven. However with this expansion many herdsman begin herding Water Buffalo, eventually domesticating them to provide a constant source of meat for the Xia, as well as for use as a pack animal, taking on cargo to be burdened by them, making merchants jobs much easier. However seeing as the Emperor can not manage all of the villages by himself, a vassalage system is created where several aristocrats, generally large landowners or military men, reign over farms and villages with relative freedom in exchange for giving the Emperor tribute and providing him with men for his wars. However this giving up of powers is seen by many of this noble class as weakness, and the strongest amongst them regularly “forget” to pay tribute and even demand more privileges from the Son of Heaven. With these threats in mind the Emperor goes forth with raising a force to bring villages along the border into the fold of the Xia, however with the news of supposed weakness spreading beyond their borders few willingly submit, and some even begin to raid bordering farms, taking slaves and livestock in the process. With these threats in mind the Emperor begins work on fortifying the capital and orders the creation of a large wall all around the city. However the Xia can only manage to make a wall about ten feet tall made of mud, wood, and stones inside, nearly bankrupting the state with its construction. However the demand for resources has led to one laborer to shave away two pieces of wood into circles, put an axle between them and put a sled on top, essentially inventing the wheel and cart all in one.
Lamiruk Damian0358 Government Type: Tribal Council Religion: Animism/Shamanism (Lamiruk)
In the dark forests of western Europe and ancient people stir, their songs, stories, and language ring throughout the dense lands where forest spirits stir. These are the lands of the Lamiruak. These people, though ancient are well connected with their gods and ancestors. Following their faith and creed food and resources are seen as property of all men and women and to be shared as such. Equality in Relationships is expected in all forms, women and men being treated as equals in this society with both participating in all roles of society, including hunting, fighting, farming, and caring for the children. This egalitarianism has created a society where there is little to no signs of authoritarianism or social hierarchy, with the lone side effect being that in times of peril the Lamiruk must act unified as one, or face destruction. And perilous times may come, as whispers spread across the forests from the east where Iratxoak’s, Imp like beings, are said to be spreading like wildfire, conquering, massacring, and enslaving all before them. With these dark words, the Lamiruak have begun to mobilize themselves and form a militia of the strongest men and women who are willing to fight and die for their people.Coming mainly from forested villages these warriors soon come to be known as the “Ardah’s Fury”, after Ardah God of the forest. With these new threats in mind as well expansion becomes a concern as the Lamiruak begin to expand along the Siene River, facing hardships getting very far due to its dense forests and contact with the occasional hunter-gather group believed to be protected by Huraztat, god of the waters and old ways, and therefore the Lamiruak are unwilling to displace them. However the colonization is necessary and soon many new villages begin to pop up along the river, as well as new houses in existing locations, mainly made of mud and clay with some stone thrown in at the foundation generally. However one of the larger developments for the Lamiruak begin to take place with their expansion, proper temples begin to be created at the center of many locations to serve as meeting places between the Gods and Man as well as for where members of the community can gather and discuss daily occurrences and new discoveries. It is in these temples, which generally are the largest structures in these villages that the Lamiruak discuss and trade herbs and treatments for different ailments. Soon herbalists begin to prop up all throughout Lamiruak society where the ailing can recieve treatments for things such as fevers, stomach pain, colds, and infections. Such good fortune has been seen as the work of the divines and a large festival is held in honor of Huraztat and his helpers the Intxisu for their blessings. This expansion along the river Seine has also led to another perculiar development, as with the growing number of people travelling along the banks, some have seen logs floating down the river, and a few got the bright idea to hollow them out and begin to ride inside of them down the river, with many of these canoe makers becoming merchants to those in the south, establishing relations with many of those under Huraztat’s protection, and a few other agrarian societies. The Qopo are and forever have been fascinated with the skies, seeing beauty in the many stars and entities that exist far above their earthly demesne. The Sun, chief among all in the sky take their place at the head of the Qopo’s beliefs serving as chief for their pantheon of spirits, the moon a child of the sun but lesser since it must wane, this believed to be because it disobeyed its creator and was punished, and must wane to recover. It is on the central island of Puna that their faith has a central point. Here a large tower like object is constructed out of mud and images of the Sun carved all along it to serve as a place for the Sun to revered and worshipped at. It is here too that the Qopo use Puna to centralize trade, with farmers bringing surplus to the island for exchange and sale and the peoples are able to communicate new ideas. One such idea that catches on quickly is the growing of “little barley”, which when fully harvested can be ground up and made into a flatbread of sorts. Becoming quite popular with the Qopo for how much can be grown in a small area, and that it does not spoil it soon becomes a staple for these mountain folk. Much of the surplus is offered to outside tribes to help the Qopo in their many building projects and to build freindly relations, with some joining the ranks of the Qopo entirely to better benefit from their fortune. Soon after slash and burn farming becomes popular as a way to provide more fertile farmland for the growth of little barley as well as many more different crops like potatoes and peanuts putting an even greater variety on the Qopo plate. However the Qopo soon find that many of their crops are consistently being eaten by wild animals or stolen by hostile tribes on their borders. For the former problem one of the largest perpetrators of eating Qopo crops, the llama, quickly begins to be captured by Qopo farmers and slaughtered for their meat and fur. Enjoying the taste of the meat and texture of the wool the farmers decide quickly to keep the llama’s arround but keep them corralled and penned where they can be bred and sheared for their wool, quickly being adopted as pack animals to carry goods to market. Alongside them are Guinea Pigs, which are commonplace on many farms and throughout Qopo society, kept in small mud pens they are usually kept, breed, and then eaten as a quick meal. However the larger problem facing the Qopo was the threat of hostile raids from neighboring tribes, seeing this many villages set about clearing fifty yards of foliage from their villages so they could spot them ahead of time, however, after realizing this only gave them about 10 more seconds to prepare they decided to begin to build wooden palisades around their villages greatly hampering any raiders attempts at attack in interior of the villages, and often given the villagers enough time to mobilize a response to the attackers. It is in these well protected villages that a more peculiar thing takes place. Every winter a new chief is elected from amongst them to make decisions on behalf of the tribe and do what a chief would normally do as leader in times of both war and peace, sometimes to the detriment if in the middle of a war a new chief is elected. However for the Qopo they exist as one people, in their communities the children are raised by the entire village, with elders being refered to as a person’s aunt, uncle, grandparent, etc. To the point where some children do not even know who their own parents are, sometimes to the disgruntlement of the parent themselves.
The Kaisar doomevil Government Type: Tribal Democracy Religion: Shamanism (Kriesm)
On the southern banks of the North Sea there is rumor of a people recently settled, geared and prepared for war, and ready to fight. They are said to be descended from wolves by their enemies and bulls by their friends. These people are known as the Kaisar, and they are led by Ita Tomalwah Their chief god Kriesm, blessed their lands long ago and gave to his people opportunity and hope for a better and brighter future. Kriesm himself is said to have come to The Kaisar in the form of an Auroch and guided them to their home on the coast, leaving a reverence for the beasts in Kaisar society. With this in mind they have been quick to capture and bring back to their lands as many Auroch as they can, seeing them as vehicles to be worshipped and the shedding of their blood sacrilege. Their prosperity is the prosperity of the Kaisar, leading to them quickly developing a relationship with the beasts that sees them used as beasts of burden to carry goods, but also treated like pets, similar to how dogs are kept Aurochs are commonplace everywhere. When an Auroch dies it is not uncommon for them to receive a proper funeral However even with the blessing of their god the Kaisar are few in number and rely on the voice of every tribe member to determine where the tribe goes, with shouting matches being common over large decisions, professional criers and shouters being paid top dollar to represent whatever side needs them. Their small numbers have also provided a need for protection with the creation of a militia to protect their lands and their Aurochs dubbed the First and the Last, due to their inclusion of both young and old, men and women, they regularly patrol the borders of Kaisar lands and keep a dutiful eye for foreign threat and invasion. When not patrolling though , the militiamen undergo rigorous training to keep themselves in tip top shape with running, calisthenics, and lifting heavy objects becoming a popular pastime for them. In addition a leadership system is created where the strongest and best warriors make up a hierarchy of leadership in the First and the Last, Ita Tomalwah, their first leader ,set the precedent of wearing the head of a deceased Auroch, to show his connection to Kriesm. The first and Last would be called into action however as they were quickly attacked from eastern raiders only months after their settlement, with the strong and well trained Militia at their backs the Kaisar moved in and snuffed out the home villages of these raiders along the Elbe, taking their lands as payment for the lives lost in their raids. As soon as they have been properly settled down however the Kaisar get hard to work, clearing forests to be used to build wooden homes, gathering rocks and stones to stockpile for building projects, and teaching their children how to fight like true Sons of Kriesm, and grow crops like one too. However it is after generations of harvesting grains, and fruits a new device is invented. One that uses the bones of game, wood, and stones to create a sharpened semi circle, cutting down the time needed to harvest grain significantly. Giving the Kaisar more time to focus on other tasks such as developing new types of pottery and artforms, with many of their pots depicting Bulls and great warriors, their jewelry made from the bones of animals also becomes quite popular along the southern coast of the north sea down to the banks of Frisia. Home to venomous snakes and deadly predators, this is where the Otzotl live. These people have a long tradition of hearing the voice of all their people on matters of great importance, with villages regularly holding meetings over things like war and when and where to expand. However in nearly all of these villages strongmen exist, perhaps the blood of former leaders, if the tribe is ever uncertain they step in to guide them on the right path. It is with their guidance the Otzotl have begun to permanently settle down with the felling of large trees to be used to build longhouses and huts along rivers and brooks where they can grow their crops; mainly beans, peppers, maize and squash. With many plots being right outside of houses to bring them closer to the people, who view communion with all life as sacred. However their work at expanding irrigation in the rainforest to both water their crops and to create large pools of water in reservoirs brings unexpected benefit to to the Otzotl, as their large supply of food and water has attracted not only immigrants from other tribes but also raiders as well. After the sacking of several villages the Otzotl begin to develop wooden pallisades, and towers to accompany them, scaring off bandits and turning the Otzotl villages into safe places to trade. Much of the trade conducted with other tribes consists of food, beads, pottery, and fine works of leather and feathers as the Otzotl begin to specialize with entire houses dedicated to craftsmen so they can perfect their trades and create goods everyone wants and needs, like clothes and fancy hats. Those who are shown to be exceptional in their field, either through innovation or shear hard work are given special patronage by their village where instead of working for food they work to improve their talent and invent new methods in the field. Bricklayers and Sculptors are among the most important of the craftsmen, as their control over clay, how it can be affected so by water in one form but affected in the next, has given them prominent roles in society with their mud and clay brick houses usually featuring ornate designs along them and figurines adorning their windows. This stability in Otzotl villages and trading relations with outsiders has prompted them to begin to exchange gifts and marry into local friendly clans. Banning the marriage of relative to facilitate more alliances, and when times of conflict arise the Otzotl are quick to aid their allies, subjugating their enemies with the help of their allies. And early on for Otzotl society this is a very common phenomenon as tribes begin to fight over trading rights with them as well as access to rivers and farmlands. Soon the Otzotl come to dominate the entire peninsula in one form or another. Making them the lone great power in Central America This rise in conflict prompted some of the wiser of Otzotl craftsman to look for new tools for which to conduct war, finding that the glass rock found at the foot of mountains can be razor sharp, and when chipped into a spear head can be very deadly, this alongside the development of polished stone gave the Otzotl an edge amongst their enemies with their superior arsenal. With their dominance on the Yucatan secure the Otzotl begin working on capturing some of the animals near them to bring them closer with their people, and thus with the spirits and their gods. Peccaries are soon chased into pens where they are raised and fed by the Otzotl, soon becoming fat and tame. After several generations they become so comfortable with humans they do not need to be in a pen to stay in the village, providing the villagers with a rich source of meat and fat. But there are some elements of nature even the Otzotl do not want to deal with, mainly the rodents that come in and eat their crops in the granaries, and serpents that kill the unsuspecting. After observing them in the wild for some time, the Otzotl decide that the Ocelot would be a good beast to put under their control to help with pest control. After many failed attempts at capturing them eventually several Ocelots begin to come into villages, kept in deep pits that they cannot climb out of violent and resisting males are killed and their fur worn by the wealthy, however eventually after breeding the submissive ocelots over many generations they too, like the Peccaries have become used to Humans, and can be regularly seen killing and eating rodents and snakes near and in Otzotl villages, however as personal companions still, like their furs, only the most wealthy of the Otzotl can afford them.
