[B]Please read the thread before talking about how much you hate DarkRP. A thorough explanation is going to be found bellow, but if you just want the basics - watch our [B]trailer[/B]. [video=youtube;dk8AHnf1Br4]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk8AHnf1Br4[/video] GoldRP is an attempt to do DarkRP right. By this, we mean having a proper, serious roleplay server on the DarkRP base. We have done many modifications, from a grand total of 5 coders, and some extra content we got from coderhire. ------------------------------------------------------- [B]Backstory (in case you need an explanation for the city)[/B]: The game takes place within the city of Sornit, in the eastern country of Goldtzka. It's a country, in which factions fight over wether to keep and improve on the communist system, or head twoards a neoliberal, capitalist future. The country suffered after the fall of the Soviet Union, due to the stop of financial aid and cheap imports. While murders are relatively rare, the country has a hefty problem with counterfeit currency, which does nothing to help its economic situation. The President of Karistan has recently been assassinated by the National Front for Democracy, a union of radical lassiez-faire liberals, and christian rightists, which caused a power vaccum. The situation is on the verge of a civil war breaking out between the ruling Communist Party of Karistan and the National Front for Democracy. It's up to the citizens of the country to decide which side to back, or even create their own fronts, as well as to create organisations that can effectively deal with crime. Should the Police focus on detaining NFD members, or shut down illegal counterfeit operations? It's up to you to decide. ------------------------------------------------------- [B]What's changed and how does it work?[/B] [B]Visual Overhaul:[/B] Before getting to the gameplay mechanics we added or changed, it's worth mentioning that we entierly changed the GUI and HUD of our server, in order to please your eyes with eye-candy. :) 1. We've overhauled the crime system. We did away with the old "gangster" and "mobboss" classes, in stead, we think that people should make their own crime syndicates, and we made the [B]citizens class[/B] the cookie-cutter criminal class, with some of the vendors also being allowed to partake in criminal activities. We also did changes to DarkRP's old money printers. We have replaced them with [B]upgradable money printers[/B], with each level increasing the amount printed and decreasing the time between printing. An additional and expensive upgrade is the cooling plate, that can be attatched to prevent overheating. If moneyprinters aren't your thing, we have also [B]added growable weed[/B], by which we mean cannabis. It works like this: You first buy a regular plant pot from any goods vendor (player with that job), then spawn a cannabis seed. Plant the seed in the pot and watch it grow. It grows visually over a period of 10-20 minutes. Once done, you can hit E on it to produce marijuana. The marijuana can either be smoked, which grants drug effects, or sold to the druggie NPC for a profit. 2. We overhauled police. [B]Police will now choose their weapons when they spawn[/B], with the added bonus of the President being able to purchase additional bonuses, and even allowing primary weapons, with government surpulus money. [IMG]http://gyazo.com/dfde6ca8fb57a4a4e116d1a14e325e5b.png[/IMG] We have also [B]added criminal investigations[/B], which allow you to [B]investigate dead bodies[/B] TTT-style, interrogate suspects, hell, reenact Castle if you want to. It's all here. :) 3. We overhauled the mayor. Our first change was to rename him to President, after that, we continued adding features. The [B]President now controls the national economy[/B]. He regulates income tax, makes governmental policies and can spend government money. Managing the economy well reaps many rewards - the President will be able to spend excess government money to buy things like armor and more weapons for the police department, and of course - the people will still recieve paychecks. [IMG]http://gyazo.com/fcfa1fd0bba1672c51f8d05cef4eaabb.png[/IMG] The second thing we did to change how the president works was the [B]implementation of multi-candidate elections[/B]. They work like this: Elections start when either 3 players are running for office, or 30 minutes have passed since the first person became a candidate, whichever comes first. You must submit your candidacy to the office before the time runs out. Once elections are called, each player has one vote. The candidate with the most votes wins (first past the post), however, if the election is a tie, a second round is called, where players can again revise their stance and vote. If the second round is also a tie, the winner is chosen at random. This system is (as far as I know) unique to our server, and allows for much more in-depth presidential campaigns, as well as generally making being the President more fun. Also, it is possible to become the president after conducting a violent revolution, but you will need approval from an admin. 4. We have[B] added in-depth new classes[/B]. We don't just simply make some random jobs, that can be fufiled by citizens off our heads, we have added jobs that make sense, namely: [B]Fireman:[/B] Extinguishes fires. Fires can be caused by either arson, or overheated money printers. Fires spread over nearby entities and props, damaging or destroying them over time. Fires on metal props last the longest, up to 20 minutes. To combat fires, one needs to be a fireman. Firemen are equipped with things such as battering rams (which require approval beforehand, of course), and a fire extinguisher (one that actually works :) ), which allow them to extinguish and contain fires. [B]Journalist:[/B] He spawns an in-game microphone, which allows him to speak to anyone with a turned-on radio nearby. He can expand his operations by spawning a camera (we have re-implemented RT cameras in our server, which are exclusive for the journalist), which will allow him to do real-time TV broadcasting for the citzens of the city. News stations, music stations, it's all possible! [B]Mobile Operator:[/B] That's right we have a version of CellMod that actually works with GMod 13. :) It works like this: Every player has a cellphone. In order to call or text other players, though, he will need a simcard. He can get it from a Mobile Operator, who sets the terms of the simcard (texting and per minute voice call price), and after a player has inserted his SIM card, he can call or text other players at the rates he agreed to. Being too deep underground can cause disturbances in cell reception, though. [B]Goods Vendor:[/B] Essentially, he provides the populace with a lot of general items, things from cheap, chineese knock-off safes, to personal computers (yes, they really work!), to lockpicking equipment. Some things are more legal than others, of course. [B]Banker:[/B] Creates his own bank, which allows him to deal with money. He can also spawn proffessionally-built safes, banking computers and safety deposit boxes. [B]And much more![/B] ------------------------------------------------------- I'm barely scratching the tip of the iceberg here. There are plenty of other things that we removed, added and changed to make this into a real RP experience. Some things are obvious, such as [B]street adresses[/B], Some of the things are under-the-hood, which you might not even notice, but prevent mingebags from overcoming the server. We have also vastly improved on prop protection and other safeguards, in order to prevent RDM. What you need is higher gun prices, better prop protection, and getting rid of "evil" classes. Also, having an admin on at all times really helps. PS. Server has just been updated. Changelog: - Old DarkRP hud brought back, until I can fix the new one. - Decreased the prices of several things, increased starting money and wages, people were being waaay to conservative with their money. - Disabled /sleep, people tried using it to exploit the server. - The President can now also tax the "Journalist" job, as well as himself. I actually did have fun on this server for a while, until you started abusing your admin powers when you decided to start a rebellion against me as a president. The rebellion was fun and all, until you decided to start giving your rebels guns using admin commands and eventually going as far as to make the doors to the police station ownable so that they could buy it and storm the place.

What, the cleanup? The server was lagging like crazy. I also lost all of my equipment, mainly my microphone - which accounted for a third of my wealth. I also lost my weapons, and had to get new ones. The cleanup makes the group-specific doors ownable, as well as the unownable ones, but I didn't want to restart with a nearly full server. Any admin knows this. Hell, download darkrp and try it for yourself. The lag needed to be fixed, that's why I did the cleanup. I didn't give any of the rebels guns. If you think I did, [B]PROVE IT[/B]. :) In fact, all of the guns came from the weapons vendor that supplied us. You know, the same one you made wanted? Also, worth noting - if I was spawning weapons, which I am telling you right now, I was not, why would I spawn only glocks and five-sevens? You know, the cheapest weapons in the game? Instead of looking at conspiracies, relax. You were president for about four hours. In fact, I made the whole thing more interesting with the resistance. I am sorry, but it is you, not me, that is acting immaturely. It can't be all about you. If you think that preventing the server from crashing is admin abuse, I'm sorry, but you don't know anything about admining. Have a nice day. :)

It just seemed odd to me how your men would constantly be given new assault rifles even though such shipments are ridiculously expensive. How could the gun dealers afford it all? Anyway, all in all the server itself is actually pretty fun. I'd recommend checking it out. Also, you didn't explain why you lied in your previous post about you not being Godlike aka nutnuts.

If you don't believe me, download DarkRp on your computer, make police-specific doors and run a cleanup. The cleanup was required to prevent a server crash, and it was lagging like crazy. Also, none of my men ever had assault rifles. All we had were glocks and 5-7s. Also, I didn't lie. I AM goldlike. That's what the "Gold" in "GoldRP" stands for. on one hand, i think this server looks good, otherwise i wouldn't have joined it (i completely forgot about goldrp). but on the other, i know from experience that you're not a very good admin

Some of the cops kept saying that you had assault rifles, but then again I never saw you with assault rifles myself. I was on my way to find a new place to put down my mic, so I can start broadcasting again. The people that killed you might have been my supporters, but I didn't tell them to do this.
