• A suggestiong to make the Razorback more useful. . .

Why not have it kill spies if they backstab it? I thought that's how it was going to work from the start anyway. The way I see it is it then makes the Razorback slightly more useful to not just the sniper using it, but surrounding teammates. If they're running around in a mob, and in that mob is a sniper with the Razorback, a spy might try to play it safe and not backstab players for fear of accidentally backstabbing the sniper. Edit: And Die Another Way would still be earnable, one would just need to use the Dead Ringer.
It wasn't originally meant to kill a spy. I dunno, this might work. I'd really rather have a kukri replacement instead.
Edit: And Die Another Way would still be earnable, one would just need to use the Dead Ringer.
You can't attack when you have the DR out
maybe take away a specific amount of health from the spy? like a static amount like 60 hp or decrease the health by half from what it previously was before. idk i also wish we had a kukri replacement.
Death is a bad idea. Health docking makes sense, since it's an electric shock anyways [editline]10:02PM[/editline] Also, does anyone actually bother backstabbing the razorback? I know I personally just stand a distance away and shoot them twice in the head
I think it should just reduce the damage the sniper takes, by say 10% or something. Considering you're giving up your secondary I think that's fair.
The razorback does exactly what it's supposed to do. Stops spies from backstabbing you, and if you use it and still managed to get back stabbed by the same spy who broke your razorback, you suck at sniper.

either take away health or make the spy slow down like what the scout does after drinking bonk. i can see it happening
I always backstab snipers with the razorback. They never notice it when their razorback breaks.
I should start doing that just for the sake of it. and use the dead ringer as well.
I could see them adding an "alert noise" when it breaks. Kinda like when a sentry gets sapped.
the problem with the razorback is that no good spy is stupid enough to backstab it. So buffing it's effects on a backstab isn't exactly going to change much, I mean you could have it so the sniper shoots instakill crits from his ass and it wouldn't make much of a difference.
Or we can add a loud noise to it like the dead ringer. A loud electrical sound.
I always backstab snipers with the razorback. They never notice it when their razorback breaks.
Really? Since I've had the razorback, I've never been backstabbed properly. When I hear it break, I go back to spawn and get a new one
Make it invisible to the other team.

I thought if the razorback didn't block just one back stab, but unlimited. I haven't thought much of it, but it might seem a bit unbalanced.
Let the sniper use it as a riot shield or some awesome thing like that. Taking it from the secondary weapon slot makes you hold it infront of you, meaning you can be backstabbed, but you also have damage resistance from the front until it takes enough damage to break.
The razorback is perfect for what it's intended use is, but I agree I would use it more if it did something better than just stop spies. Like a sniper health buff or something. I mean seriously, have you seen the Targe? How does that tiny shield protect against fire AND explosives and a giant turtle shell-like object with a fucking car battery taped to it does nothing for the sniper? Jarate is way more useful to me, I can uncover the spies before they even get close to me, I can put out myself and teammates who are flaming and if they rush with a buff banner I can make them take mini crits too.
Razorback has always been a poor idea in my opinion. It's the polar opposite of versatile as it was designed to counter one class doing one thing, that is the trade-off. Spies can no longer score free stabs on your oblivious backside but you lose the versatility a secondary would provide. This is boring and was a lazy design decision.
The Razorback needs to be put down like a sick animal and replaced with something that is more than just smelting material.
The Razorback is fine as it is. Most people just don't see it's potential.
The Razorback needs to be put down like a sick animal and replaced with something that is more than just smelting material.
So giving Sniper a Sandman is out of the question.
I use the Razorback and find it useful.
I think the Razorback is fine. All you need to do is be fairly good at responding when a Spy is around you. One revolver shot doesn't kill you, so you always have time to react if a Spy attacks you. Not much, sure, but time nonetheless. It's at least more than you would have if you weren't wearing the Razorback at all; it prevents Spies from insta-killing you, which is a pretty big pro if you're a good close-range Sniper.
What kind of idea is this? You stab wooden shield and you magically die?Fuck that shit
I agree with other people in this thread, it should make a really loud alarm noise.
It should be useable as a weapon, and you can whack people with it, and they get weapon stunned like the spy does, but it breaks.
After being broken you should be able to restore it from gathering more metal/weapons (like 200-300 worth's of metal) It should also be able to block other attacks at least once, at least from melee weapons.
