Shotguns very rarely come out on top too, it's best just to outburn the other pyro unless he's unaware of you or you're far enough away to stay out of his flames and he wont put his flamethrower away.

I spent about 10 minutes messing around with some pyros reflecting stuff and we couldn't seem to reflect flares.

Rockets behave differently for pyros, since pyros aren't supposed to rocket jump :D

The main reason to use a shotgun in Pyro vs Pyro is, as you stated, when you're both out of flame range. I used it earlier to scare off one using the flare gun. He never even touched me, and I did at least 60 damage to him before he could get away. One reason I've been sticking with it lately.
The axe, however, is for use underwater. My rule of thumb is flare gun + axe, shotgun + axtinguisher. Going full flames, anybody hiding at the bottom of a body of water, like in Well, you're not going to be able to do anything to. Granted they can't stay there forever, unless they've got a dispenser for some reason, it's usually more than enough time to outgun a Pyro whose only options are the relatively minor damage of impact flares, or the -50% damage and no crits with the axtinguisher. If you're hell bent on using the flare gun, the normal axe is your only effective solution. Other than running away, but work with me here.

And I thought airblast sucked, because every time I have tried to reflect something, it has been either too far or too close (rocket hits me before the AIRBLAST FUCKING COMES OUT FROM THE SfADSDAfDSFDSFSFDSFDS FLAMETHROWER), or the blast "misses" the target by few millimeters. :argh:
Finally a person who sees how good the regular axe is versus other pyros.

Regular axe is good , because if you run out of ammo, it can kill pretty good. And it is great against pyro.

Personally I only use the regular axe. It's just more fun to use.
I tend to stick with the axtinguisher, flame person, compression blast him into wall to disorient him and swing away

No, it was an arrow but because it hit the head of a Heavy it registered as a headshot.
The deflected arrow thing only works when it hits a Sniper.
