[highlight]What is surfing?[/highlight] Surfing in Source games (TF2) involves sliding down prisms suspended in midair, with the main goal being to reach the end of the course/a secret room/the Jail control room. [highlight]How to surf:[/highlight] To surf, you must strafe into the ramp you're currently sliding down in order to grip it correctly. To turn in midair, smoothly move your mouse in the direction you want to turn while holding the corresponding strafe key. Tutorial: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUT17eSHl-A[/media] [highlight]Surf Map Elements[/highlight] [B]The Jail[/B]: One of the most important parts of a surf map. You will usually end up inside the "Jail", a room with seemingly no escape. Here, you can battle until you are killed either by another player in the jail, or by the Kill switch (If it's part of the map.) [B]Teleport areas[/B]: Usually situated near the end of the course, there is a series of doors that will take you to various points in the map. Jail or [|||]: The jail control room (You can kill jailed players or release them here) CT: Usually teleports you to the BLU spawn. T: Usually teleports you to the RED spawn. TOP or ^: A high point in the map from which to surf/snipe from, usually above the spawn. [B]The Jail control room[/B]: From here, you often have a view of the jail from behind a one-way window. You can shoot/fire non-hitscans through here, but the jailees can also return fire, albeit inaccurately. There is usually a Kill and a Release switch in here. You can activate it by either shooting it or using it (in console, bind "f" "+use") I will add more later.

Surfing is always good for a break from normal TF2, might be worth adding the best maps and the map secrets to your OP. Was a nightmare trying to find secrets when I first started out.

Thank you. Now people will hopefully stop asking 'how does me surf!!11?'. But you could add a tips section. Spawncamping with C&D is an excellent way to get points. And you should use Sniper in large and open maps. Building a engi-nest in the jail will rack up points too. You can get trough an engi-nest easily by: 1) Spy (if no guards) 2) Soldier/Demo (if low ammount of nests) 3) Ubered heavy. Also, you should check out the surf server by [surf] clan.

I enjoy occasionally surfing, though I'm not very good at jumping. I do enjoy building speed though, it's the best part for me. ...Shit now I wanna go surf

What I hate are the surf maps that literally are a couple of ramps with a jail, I like the long ones where you actually go somewhere, rather than just straight to the end in about 10 seconds. If you know what I mean.

There was this ONE map that pretty much sent you to the bottom anyways. Or the enemy Spawn. Whatever came first.

I used to surf religiously. Then I just stopped. It's nice to have an actual objective in a game... Maybe I'll pick it up a bit. Intox servers were fun when people played songs one at a time.
