Has your opinion of a class / character changed since 2007?

And I'm not talking about gameplay-wise.
What I'm getting at here is, Hats. Some hats are silly, but some hats had some dark undertones to them, or drastically change how I view a class.
Lets take a look at Pyro. People like to think that Pyro looks like this under the suit:

But I still think the Pyro is a man, and all of his masculine and feminine personalities makes me think he's some kind of scary schizophrenic that think's he's a man and a woman. Or a creepy serial killer that likes to don women's clothing.
Sound familiar?

If you haven't seen Silence of the Lambs, this character is a serial killer that likes to wear women's clothing...and also likes to skin women alive and wear their skin as clothing. Pyro's addiction to wearing girly hats and acting girly in general more than anything makes me think he's one of the crazy serial killers that gets jollies from wearing women's clothing, and not the innocent little guy most fanart depicts him to be...come on, he BURNS PEOPLE ALIVE WITH A FLAMETHROWER.

I think Pyro would realistically be roasting this Squirrel and putting it on a skewer to make a Squirrel-ke-bob, but thats just me.
Anyways, enough about Pyro. Lets take a look at Soldier now. Its always been debated over whether or not Soldier was a Schizophrenic, but look at how many Japanese themed hats he has...I'm starting to wonder if he thinks he's a Japanese Warrior, as one of his many personalities? I know other classes wear the Japanese themed items, though, so I may be overthinking on it, but its just food for thought.
Though I guess since these guys are mercenaries, they traveled all over the globe and more than likely picked up many hats as war trophies from many parts of the world.
So, what are your thoughts? Incomin' boxes.
My views on Heavy have changed, ever since he started talking to his Sandvich. I mean, I understand Sascha, everybody has ONE inanimate object they cherish, but, I wouldn't go as far as talking to food. Especially calling a chocolate bar and a fish stick what they obviously aren't. ie. ham.

I only just noticed this post is now incorrect.

Oh yeah, its also implied in that new comic that Heavie's entire family died when he was a child, in a prison he was kept in.
Maybe he started talking to inanimate objects then, to deal with the crushing loneliness.
And here I thought this was going to be about gameplay issues.
Demoman and Soldier got weaker, Heavy got stronger. End of story
Heavy changed to me from a dumb badass to a childish stupid fuck. But maybe that's just thanks to Gmod videos.
And everyone still thinks Scout is a major dickwad.
Except Rong of course.
The Spy became a lot more Suave with Meet the Spy, definitely.
No it hasn't.
Heavy:
Bumbling Russian -> Badass Russian WITH A PHD APPARENTLY.
Pyro:
Woman -> Woman.
And everyone still thinks Scout is a major dickwad.
Except Rong of course.
I think rong only likes the wad of dick part there
pyro:
Downright terrifying to encounter to downright adorable.
Pyro:
Thing who likes setting things on fire -> Thing who likes to set fires and put them out like some kind of park ranger.
:colbert:
every class except medic and heavy have changed because of those comics about the classes being gay and shit in the tf2 media thread
I started to think that the pyro is a nerd when I saw the beanie and the Brain slug
And everyone still thinks Scout is a major dickwad.

I think that the Scout is a hipster :v:
engineer
texan to batshit texan
[editline]8th May 2011[/editline]
so p much texan to modern texan
I've always viewed the characters the same.
I used to play pyro loads, now I rarely play it. Scout/Soldier, and occasionally demoman now.
I've always thought the Pyro was crazy and the Heavy's always been intelligent in his native language.
The Sniper, however, is a bit bipolar.
Is it just me or is a common trend in TF2 extreme insanity? Maybe that's how all these Mercs could be dumb enough to actually believe they're fighting for something?

It's not supposed to make sense. You'd think that they'd notice the theme of "Red vs. Blue" from the fact that their groups are named RED and BLU and their clothing is colored accordingly. And they're mercs, they don't believe they're fighting for anything but money.
Back when TF2 first launched a lot of people thought Sniper as the "father of the team"
A nice guy from a 70's style cop show who busts the baddies while remaining smooth and all around jolly
Meanwhile Spy was figured as a double-triple agent or the "big bad" of the TF2 universe who was playing both RED and BLU for suckers
Kinda funny that Sniper would be changed so drastically in to a cold shaky deranged psycho while Spy was made in to a happy go lucky wise cracking bad cop type guy

Agreed, some of the Sniper's later kill-taunts got suddenly creepy-cold, made him out to be a pretty different character at times when you heard some of them, compared to the more silly "I just bagged the world's fattest man!" and ones like that.
all this pyro discussion leaves no doubt that Meet the Pyro will be the most awesome thing ever

Can't wait to see everyone's reaction to the fact that the Pyro is Ms Pauling sent to watch the mercs by the Administrator :awesome:

That would certainly be interesting. And it would have been a girl under the suit that whole time.
Class - First impression -> What I think of them now
Scout - Man Child + Brooklyn Rage + Jerkass -> Ted Baxter + Jerk With A Heart Of Gold + Brooklyn Rage
And that was surprisingly more work to type up then i though. I'll do the other classes later.
I've had my doubts recently on the pyro, because of the new taunts
Pyro:
Mumbling freak -> Girl-ish Mumbling freak
sniper seems a lot more sane
heavy has gotten a little more of a "retard" vibe, but that award is definitely going to the pyro
Up until two weeks from now the medic is the only class that I've kept a persistent opinion on.
