On a 2fort game, all snipers seem to do is stand on the rooftops and snipe the other snipers on the opposite rooftop. I'm not trying to have a go at snipers because they're one of my favourite classes, but do they make a difference to actually getting/defending the intel?
well if a scout is dumb enough to run ontop of the bridge with intel they can take him out
I've played with snipers that can protect our base pretty well, and i protect them as pyro.
The sniper doesn't just fire at other snipers, he goes for those running on the bridge too.
To be honest, I never really notice the Snipers on any 2fort match.

If the distance between the bases is great enough, the sniper can provide great cover fire for the intel runner. Or they can just do what they normally do and make it a nightmare to get from base to base. Personally, the roof over the bridge defeats the point of the sniper, plus the short distance between the bases doesn't help at all.
Real snipers, the ones who are useful, go and actually stay sniper (and get somewhere in the middle-top of the scoreboard) in payload games and less open CP games.
2fort snipers are mainly people who go: "Free ponts awsoom, guna get ma statz up XD :P:P"
Heh, when it comes to CTF and Sniper spots, I just ignore routes where there are Snipers altogether if I can. If I can't, then I go when others are taking that route too. Escape his sight before he can load that next round.
Well, snipers can be really annoying when you're trying to get to their intel, so yes.
Also, when an enemy ragequits, there's one less enemy, right?
Fighting against multiple snipers can also discourage an enemy from taking that route, forcing the player to take an alternative, if not, longer route. I usually go through sewers in 2fort just so I can have full hp when I get to the enemy base.
And then a Soldier who just HAPPENED to be coming out of the courtyard shoots at you, alerting the pyro while you do 35 damage to the Sniper dominating you.
Snipers are sniping other snipers that would otherwise snipe his team.
