Users are unhappy about the mod, though Valve hasn't made a ruling on it just yet (and while Baker says the company probably wouldn't be happy with it, it is running on private servers, presumably out of Valve's reach). Baker says he's even received death threats about the mod, but given that this is a game about shooting, stabbing and generally blowing other players up, who knows how serious those are.
Some of the F2Pers are horrendous at the game, to say the least. I've seen players who have literally NO reflexes, heavies fire at gates repeatedly because they think they're hitting things, enemies who have a hard time learning to improve after making mistakes, teams that can't defend, teams that can't attack, etc. All of that said and done, there needs to be an appropriate way for these players to get better at the game. Let's face it, we all sucked when we started playing. Some of us had an advantage over others because of how use we are to video games, but no one was perfect when they started. These guys need a way to learn the ropes without being shit on, or shitting on others.
It's really up to the discretion of the server owners. Nothing truly wrong about it. So they can't join that server, it's not like they don't have hundreds of other ones to chose from.
Who can blame him, some of the new players are god awful. Find any hightower server with at least 1/4 of the server being F2P / new players, go spy and get about 100 kills and 2-3 deaths. They'll just walk into you and ignore you or see you cloak and assume that you are no longer there.
If I had a server I'd prefer a good game with premium users over a shitty one with F2Players any day.

Does this affect users who bought something from the Mann Co. store and have "premium" status? My sister did just that and she's loving the game, I'd hate to see her be unable to join any servers.

Or it just detects any trait that only a F2Per has. I dunno. Either way she should be fine.

I don't know how F2Per's are taking advantage of the game remember Valve made it free so they want people to play and not get banned from servers.
To be honest, premium-only servers would be nice, but only if they had come from Valve at the beginning of the F2P launch. Nobody likes surprises or drama.

I don't care how bad the other players are, why don't you just throw a rank system into TF2 instead of barring them from playing? The plugin takes it way too far, and it's making the community look like elitist assholes.
I am perfectly fine with the Free2BeKicked mod. I have never gotten more frustrated at any game then I have with TF2 in the past 2 weeks. Problem is that the number of F2Ps on a team are never equal, and whoever has more is gonna get pounded into the ground. Majority of TF2 games I tend to play now end in a spawncamp.
One reason the mod was made is to prevent F2P hackers from joining the server. Not a bad decision in my opinion.
Isn't there like 600 valve servers or something, can't they just join those
One reason the mod was made is to prevent F2P hackers from joining the server. Not a bad decision in my opinion.
And servers full of russians.
I think people are taking this f2p thing a little bit too seriously, tf2 isnt one of those games where "you've gotta be the best/at my stkill ranking or else your completely ruining my fun", if a couple of f2players go on a server and you play with/against them they're not really gonna make a difference on who wins the match, and if they do make you win/lose a match, then its not a big deal since its just a game, and another persons existence shouldn't really bother you about that. This is however a private server, and if the guy wants to kick f2players then he should have the freedom to do it, he did pay for it.

Other than that, they're cool.

They won't be able to make airshots, they won't be able to take out enemies systematically, they won't be able to get a positive K/D ratio. Just give them a little time developing their gameplay skills and in the end we'll have a much richer community in TF2.

My point is just that they need a safe environment for them to do it on, not at servers where everyone has been playing for years.
Baker says he's even received death threats about the mod
Lol how pathetic
That was the point of my whole entire post :v:. If you want a challenging game I suggest you to try out www.tf2lobby.com.
Death threats? What the fuck, is this a joke?
who knew the tf2 community was capable of dropping my respect for them so much. i mean first with the elitism but this? holy shit.
who knew the tf2 community was capable of dropping my respect for them so much. i mean first with the elitism but this? holy shit.
The community for TF2 is full of retards I thought everyone knew that
If I had a server I'd prefer a good game with premium users over a shitty one with F2Players any day.
F2Players make playing battlespy actually possible.
Death threats? What the fuck, is this a joke?
BREAKING NEWS Mod creator found dead in his apartment, the culprit says he wasn't joking.
who knew the tf2 community was capable of dropping my respect for them so much. i mean first with the elitism but this? holy shit.
The community is full of self-entitled manbabies, I have very little respect for those people. It's the ones who have quiet dignity to not be appalled by that who have my respect; I have respect for them and those who contribute to the betterment of the player's experience (without getting their head up their ass).
they pay for the server they can do what they want
Baker says he's even received death threats about the mod
First the guy paying $1500 for a unusual, now this. It's like TF2 community can't stop scaring me.
