• Buffing the Atomic Punch

The Bonk Atomic Punch is virtually never used (effectively) due to it's highly situational purposes, so I propose you a way to give it more viability. The scout will hold the can of Bonk in his right hand, because spilling it on a certain part of the body in combat would ruin his image, while a pistol will be held in his left. Primary fire to shoot, secondary to drink. I've been thinking about appropriate nerfs for this holding method, so far these, in no particular order, are what I have thought of. Remember that this is a list and my thinking does not incorporate all or one of these. - Firing speed - Accuracy (because the current pistol is SO accurate) - Damage - No "perfect" shots every 1.25 seconds - Slower reloads - Recoil (similar but lesser to Force A Nature) - 5 less health - A chance to drop pistol - Slower weapon draw/holster time - Less extra ammo carried (either for pistol or primary weapon) - Nailgun instead of pistol (no longer hitscan) - Less clip capacity - Drinking the isotope-rich fluid causes you to glow for a short period after the invulnerability And last but not least! - You may only use the pistol with Bonk! when you have the Thor model downloaded
I would still use only my useful Pistol. You nerfed it too much, with a simple "Less acuracy and Slow reloading speed" I could be ok. Yeah, I KNOW he said both things, but... just remove the other ones... Still, I need books...
This isn't that good an idea to be honest. Really all it needs is the removal of knockback effects from sentries, and the ability to pick up the intel while under it's effects, without losing the effects.

Edit: But no knockback could be good, as he dodges the sentry's bullets.
Are you saying that my method is too unbalanced?
Are you saying that my method is too unbalanced? Or are you just being a tool?
I'm mainly critisizing your intel pickup idea, if you can't cloak with intel you sure as hell shouldn't be able to be invulnerable with it, even if for a short period.
And last but not least! - You may only use the pistol with Bonk! when you have the Thor model downloaded
I was with you until this and I don't even know what the thor model is.
Really all it needs is the removal of knockback effects from sentries, and the ability to pick up the intel while under it's effects, without losing the effects.
Scout needs his BONK! to come with baseball cleats.
I'm mainly critisizing your intel pickup idea, if you can't cloak with intel you sure as hell shouldn't be able to be invulnerable with it, even if for a short period.
what's he going to do with it? do a quick sprint and then become a turtle, causing him to die?
Well considering that you can recharge your cloak with ammo pickups or by standing still, it is reasonable to be unable to cloak while picking up the intel. The inevitable slowdown of the scout is crippling enough to warrant being able to pick up the briefcase while under the influence of Bonk!
I was with you until this and I don't even know what the thor model is.
It's a joke, the thor model is a "horrible" model of.... Well, a false phallus, replacing the bat.
The atomic punch is good.. Needs no buff. I killed half of a team one time because of it(Got behind them using it snuck out shot heavy and medic from behind, then finished team off)
It's a joke, the thor model is a "horrible" model of.... Well, a false phallus, replacing the bat.
It is a large, throbbing black horse cock complete with jigglebones throughout the entire thing, which replaces the scout bat. stop making Thor sound so fancy.
No knockback plus picking up the intel is the worst idea I've ever heard as even if you kill the scout, nothing will stop him once he's bonk'd to just run in and edge it closer and closer to the capture zone completely unstoppable. As it's been said multiple times, they just need to redo the scout update, it clearly didn't go well and I think it was valves way of saying everyone should stop suggesting shit as the entire update the communities ideas. "We let the community decide the weapons, now see how broken they are, leave it to us now kthx."
The atomic punch is good.. Needs no buff.
Disagree. Needs the following: No knockback during effects. That's it. [sp]You talk funny[/sp]
Ohh I've seen thor, its awesome, but what does that have to do with BONK? And you do know valve makes things official right, so they would never force you to visit a third party website to download a model.
Bonk is fine as it is. I like using it to get past sentries in dustbowl.
How about actually making the scout faster, make it last longer and remove the stupid drain effect afterwards, the lack of a pistol is enough of a drawback as it is.
It's a joke, the thor model is a "horrible" model of.... Well, a false phallus, replacing the bat.
Damn, your joke failed. And yet your ideas are pretty damn weird. It's not a buff, you're changing the concept of the weapon. Just remove the knockback and it's fine.
How about this... Scout can use his weapons during his invincibility, but the power is decreased by #%. During the cooldown, Scout is susceptible to mini-crits. Thing is, I'd still use the pistol. Too buff? Too nerf? Just throwing ideas.
As a career Scout who uses Bonk! nearly 90% of the time... I think Bonk doesn't necessarily NEED a buff. What needs to change is peoples idea of what it's actually for. I mainly use it as a distraction tool. Sure, people may know you can distract sentries with it, but what few people seem to realize is that you can very easily distract people with it as well. Survivability is surprisingly high even. What ends up happening is people will turn their focus on the low-health instant +1 points that just done ran up to them. Then two things happen: 1) They start to ignore you, seeing that you can't attack nor BE attacked. 2) They keep their attention on you and wait for the effects to wear off. It's not in your best interest to try distracting people when you're alone, that's as silly as doing it with a sentry. Rather it's best to drink it and run out into an area that has a good possibility of having enemies, your speed should put you at the front of the pack anyway. In the case of situation #1, you're almost guaranteed a kill, because your teammates are likely in the process of killing who you're distracting. A point-blank scattergun, or two point-blank FaN shots can be VERY devastating. In the case of situation #2, the person you're distracting is getting a good rogering... Preferably by a spy with a knife or a pyro with a backburner. In addition, you can Bonk and use yourself as a meat shield. Starting gates, Ubers, and the classic sentry. Chances are you'll die if no one acts upon your sacrifice, but you can give people free kills, or even give people time to spawn. And yes, simply running past a front-line guarded by sentries is still very useful. Teleporters are quite tactically important, and once those are down you can pester people running to the front-lines, hopefully getting them to chase you and thus wasting time they could have used to chip at YOUR front-lines. All in all, there are a TON of uses for Bonk that I never see people use, but with a little creativity and practice, Bonk can go from metal crafting junk to something you'll rarely NOT take when playing as a scout. P.S. Even being effected by knock-back can be useful. Example: I've, on a number of occasions, used a Demoman's sticky bombs and enemy sentries to get far behind enemy lines... But I certainly wouldn't be against axing the knock-back.
It needs to change from "MISS! MISS! MISS!" to "FLAWLESS ROLL!"
I'd rather Bonk either (and as stated earlier). . . A) Remove knock-back effects or B) Literally made you run so fast that sentries couldn't lock on to you. (In this case, I'm thinking even as dramatic as twice that of a Demoman's charge.)
what's wrong with bonk? I run into a sentry nest with bonk, the sentry shoots me, a demoman or soldier destroys it while it's targeted on me.
I find Bonk useful for when Sentry and campers cap on your spawn base. Also not bad for the balloon race game
I'm mainly critisizing your intel pickup idea, if you can't cloak with intel you sure as hell shouldn't be able to be invulnerable with it, even if for a short period.
Get a Demoman with 4 heads, he runs as fast as a Scout, has got a fuckton more health, specific damage resistances, and can charge to escape occasional danger
Get a Demoman with 4 heads, he runs as fast as a Scout, has got a fuckton more health, specific damage resistances, and can charge to escape occasional danger
This involves killing 4 people without dying, using a melee weapon against people with guns. Maybe if you focus on spies or are playing on 32/instaspawn 2fort or something this'd work.
If it would actually make the scout run faster maybe it would be worth it. [editline]09:03AM[/editline]
Get a Demoman with 4 heads, he runs as fast as a Scout, has got a fuckton more health, specific damage resistances, and can charge to escape occasional danger
No, with 4 heads he runs slower than a scout and slower than an equalizer soldier with max speed.
Get a Demoman with 4 heads, he runs as fast as a Scout, has got a fuckton more health, specific damage resistances, and can charge to escape occasional danger
Doesn't run as fast as scout. I honestly think they should remove the slow-down, I mean, you've already forsaken your long range weapon (and superior DPS too), and I don't care what anyone says, if a Heavy can keep pace with a Scout for any length of time something is fucked.
No thank you
