Ignoring my 13 year old inadequate drawing skills...
This is called the, "Geronimo".
15% Less Damage
50% Clip Size
25% Charge Per Kill
1 Crit Rocket Per Full Charge
25% Bigger Knockback
Used as a battlecry for U.S. Parachuters, the "Geronimo" will make you or your foes do just that. Powered by the Kritzkreig's help, this is a deadly cannon. Your foes will cry when they see you with this. Tested on farm animals, it left nothing to show.
I'll be getting concept of his shotgun replacement soon.
So it fires 1 shot before reloading and takes twice as long to reload?
Yeah, but if you charge it for 20 seconds it fires a critical rocket.
What if you're in a fight with someone? You'd fire one rocket at them, then they could pretty much kill you before you even have a chance to fire again.
Sorry, forgot to say it's meant to encourage the Soldier to take a defensive role.
ok, so basically it takes 20 seconds to charge, while having 27% speed to fire ONE crit rocket, and then it takes twice as long to reload seeing as the clip size is only one
I really can't see any advantage in having this
Well, crit rockets doing 270 damage will most likely knock out most enemies trying to get into your base.
but it takes TWENTY seconds to charge
that's a large amount of time in a game with good people
so 20 seconds while having 21% overall speed (which is slower then a revved up heavy) for one critical rocket, which will not kill Heavies or overhealed Soldiers, and then a 1.6 second reload time?
if there's any reason why someone would choose this over the regular rocket launcher, I'm not seeing it
True. Maybe a smaller charge. Like 10 seconds.

Actually I said 27% which is a bit faster than a Heavy revved up.
8 seconds would be reasonable. length of an ubercharge iirc. and something like -15% speed would be reasonable. keep in mind you're pretty much taking away rocket jumping.

You can fire without charging.

well 27% of the soldier base speed is 21% but whatever
the thing is, I don't know why anyone would charge 10 seconds with a 1.6 second reload time for one crit rocket when they could just kill any class (and probably more then one player) using the regular rocket
It's mainly meant for a defensive roll. And I knew there'd have to be editing to this for it to work and be balanced. I just thought the idea of charging for a crit would be a good idea.
for a 10 second charge with a clip size of 1 I'm expecting a nuclear rocket that kills everyone on the map with one hit
I think crit rockets are just aggravating to the victim and this weapon would become nothing but a griefing tool and a gimmick at best, partly because it's not even that effective since you have to reload after every shot and the reloading is slower than slow.
I can imagine it now-- Soldiers just stay in their spawn charging their rocket launcher up and then blowing up anybody who walks past in a single shot. It's just not a good idea. The soldier should get a rocket launcher that does LESS damage and has more shots, not the other way around.
soldier should get a machine gun that shoots crit rockets
that would be the funniest shit

I think that's pretty uncreative. Valve likes to be creative.

they also like to be intelligent
try it on for size

Sorry to have an idea.
you and smirnoff joe would get along famously
Sorry, don't know who that is.
So basically, you want the Soldier to be a Sniper.
Changed the whole gun. I like it better.
This is now a megathread of soldier unlockable ideas.
I am in the making of a series regarding the soldier and some unlockable ideas, seen on my blog.
I'll post direct links sometime later.
Also, does anyone like the new idea better?
Sounds too much like the Ubersaw, what with the charging business, we need fresh idea's. I like the idea of more knock back though.
It may, but I think it's a much better idea than my last one.
It's so someone can get a cheap 1 hit kill in exchange for being useful to the team.
Tried redrawing it.

I personally think the idea has potential, its just a bit overboard on the stats.
