I've been wanting to get my own TF2 server started up, but I'd rather not waste a lot of money on poor service, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience with different hosts and could recommend me a provider.
Our server's run for free. You'd have to ask Scout-on-a-train about that.
Yeah, I'm hosting a server on my own comp. Running good without problems, and you don't have to mess with external hosts.
You'll need a decent ISP tho.
Here's a list of server providers that do mainly GMOD hosting but also some do TF2. I know for a fact that clanbaselive and DCH do.
