Title says it all. What's the most underrated custom or official map to you? Maps that don't get played as often as they deserve or played on? What map that you love while others ignore or even hate? Discuss.
cp_well i love that map, but the only servers i get to play on are turbine only/badwater only/pl only etc. Usually the Full Rotation servers are full :colbert:
cp_granary or ctf_2fort. 2fort gets a bad reputation for some reason, but stick on a time limit instead of infinite time and voila! You have awesome. Granary I just don't see played often.
plr_pipeline
Koth_harvest_final I love it but next to no one does it :saddowns:
A lot of people don't like arena maps :saddowns:
A lot of people don't like arena maps :saddowns:
Arena's probably my most played gametype. Arena_well is amazing.
i want harvest maps
I thought cp_junction was fun.
Hydro. I LOVE Hydro and the Territory Control game mode, but nobody in any server I can actually find running it can actually play it worth a damn. The team is either far too focused on defense or far too focused on offense, and when both teams are being overly defensive, which happens a lot, it stalemates. I really like it, though, because it forces each team to be heavily coordinated and ration their members between offense and defense. Communication or even just a sense of duty (looking at who's doing what, doing what needs more people to do) is essential. The whole "pushing the other team into a new area" is also great. When you get pushed to the edge and manage to fight back, slamming the other team all the way to the other side of the map to come out the winner, the victory you share with your teammates is GLORIOUS. I've been in several Hydro matches like this, and there was e-high-fiving and congratulations all around. The entire other team ragequit just before the end, but the victory was still spectacular. :v: Hydro was honestly better on the 360 version for me. On the 360, nearly everybody used a microphone and teams were generally smaller and far more geared toward working together. Teamwork was easy to come by and thus Hydro and the Territory Control game mode flourished. It's just too bad that stuff like that is never seen in public games on the PC, or else Hydro would be a lot more popular than it is and we'd actually get more than one official Territory Control map. :frown:
Hydro and Turbine.
I really really enjoy playing on granary. Everyone else seems to hate it.
Lumberyard
Cp_badlands. There are only like 10 servers with that map, at a time. I love that map :saddowns:
CTF_HallofDeath and TC_Hydro. Say what you will about Hall of Death, as long as people aren't being dicks about doing nothing but sniping, it can be really fun. And Hydro, even with some of the different maps' flaws, is really fun a lot of the time.
Gorge.
cp_yukon Edit:Its not supposed to be funny :saddowns:
2fort
Granary or Hydro. The latter is almost never played.
ctf_turbine, I don't get what the bitching is about.
id probabl;y have to say gorge.
tc_hydro
Cp_steel
I love Hydro.
Gorge.
Lumbeyard (for me most beautiful map in entire game), Harvest (both versions), Nucleus, Gorge and Doublecross.
I was expecting a lot more gravelpit and steel in here. I guess Gravelpit does get a decent amount of appreciation, but so many people hate Steel just because it's a big map. These maps really allow every class to be played to the fullest. Some maps are too full of spammy chokepoints for scouts to get anywhere, or there's no cover/long distances for snipers to look over, or it's hard for engineers to be useful, or spies don't have any sneaky routes to take, but Steel accommodates everyone.

Hydro, as well. The maps flaws detract from it the most. Even me, who actually enjoys hydro often goes 'wtf is goin on' as I walk out of the spawn. Each of the areas should have a clear name like 'The Dish' 'The Dam wall' 'The turbines' 'The shack' and 'Final cap red/blue' If the areas had clear names and were labelled clearly on that stupid map thing and there were more intrusive 'GO THIS WAY' signs then it would be much more fun.
Hydro, Yukon and Pipeline.
