anyone know anything i can do to try to gt my tf2 to lag less? it lags like a bitch so it kinda ruins it :(
-dxlevel 70
-dxlevel 70
That won't work, it'll launch but you can't join a game without it seriously fucking up. 81 is the lowest the still works I think.
mat_picmip 10
Your not helping
in person-who-doesn't-have-a-good-computer-and-isn't-good-with-those-kind-of-tech-termy-people-like-you-kind-gentlemen.
Right click on Team Fortress 2 on your steam games page, click Properties and click the button that says "Set launch options" and enter "-dxlevel 81". Now start your game and see how it runs. Hope this helps.
im not at my computer at the moment but i'll do that, any other ideas would help as well is there anything i can download or do i need to defrag?
I guess you could *try* defragging, I don't think that'll improve your performance, but it will slightly improve your load times.
mat_picmip 2 r_lod 2 r_rootlod 2
r_3dsky 0 Turns off the view beyond the playable map.
Go to the game's launch properties and enter: -dxlevel 81 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0 +cl_eject brass 0 -w 800 -h 600 +mat_dxlevel 81 +mat_mipmaptextures 0 +r_dynamic 0 +r_threaded_particles 1 +r_threaded_renderables 1 +mat_max_worldmesh_vertices 102 That's what I use to reduce lag until I get a new PC.
Download this http://www.m0re.nocrits.com/index.php?site=files&file=8 Put it in your teamfortress/tf/cfg folder. Launch the game in -dxlevel 80, then exit, then remove -dxlevel 80. Don't listen to any of the above advice or you will break your game
ok who the heck do i trust here guys?
All of these guys that posted are trusted. Truly.
anyone know anything i can do to try to gt my tf2 to lag less? it lags like a bitch so it kinda ruins it :(
Well if you play on servers with a lower ping then you'll automatically lag less. (Lol at people who don't know the difference between lag and fps drop :v:)

Seriously, if you want a higher fps just go to TF2's launch properties and type the command I posted. All it will do is make the game look worse but make it run faster. Here it is again: -dxlevel 81 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0 +cl_eject brass 0 -w 800 -h 600 +mat_dxlevel 81 +mat_mipmaptextures 0 +r_dynamic 0 +r_threaded_particles 1 +r_threaded_renderables 1 +mat_max_worldmesh_vertices 102

why are we talking about FPS?
why are we talking about FPS?
Because most people would say that they're the same thing and only Daimao and people trying to emulate him would care about the semantics.
Because most people would say that they're the same thing and only Daimao and people trying to emulate him would care about the semantics.
now I understand I think maybe
Well if you play on servers with a lower ping then you'll automatically lag less. (Lol at people who don't know the difference between lag and fps drop :v:)
Daimao is now the coolest person of this thread for pointing out the difference
ok im not near my actual computer but ill do it as soon as i get back home
After you set your resolution settings and stuff then you should delete the -dxlevel 81 part, or it will keep resetting your resolution/video settings everytime you start.
