• Would this trigger a ban?

I think I may have triggered a VAC ban because of a skin. Let me explain. I downloaded a Travis Touchdown skin for the Scout in TF2. It includes a bloodberry and soundpack. There were scripts to change the name of the bat to Bloodberry and use specially named sounds. I tried to join a VAC secure server and it disconnected me because a core file did not match the server's. Worried, I uninstalled the scripts and said "Oh well. Bat sounds." But then it dawned on me that I might get VAC banned because of a skin. I have never nor would I ever dream of hacking. So will I get banned for this?
no
Vac does not ban for modified skins, sounds, or models.
No. Custom skins/sounds won't get you VAC'd, the reason you got kicked was probably because of sv_pure.
Yes [sp]jk no[/sp]
I have never nor would I ever dream of hacking.
I dreamed about hacking before. After I woke up I went to play Tf2 and I was banned.
Vac does not ban for modified skins, sounds, or models.
It's not that, it was a few scripts that came with the file. They changed the name of the bat to Bloodberry and were supposed to dictate which custom sounds to use. But since it was a core file and script for a game weapon that was modified when I tried to join a VAC server, I might have accidentally triggered a ban. Is that true?
The scripts just change the sounds it has to use or tells it to use a different reload animation or something, perfectly legal.
The scripts just change the sounds it has to use or tells it to use a different reload animation or something, perfectly legal.
Which is what I thought. But the game auto-kicked me because the files didn't match the server files. I know the server allows skins and things. So I'm just worried (paranoid) is all.

If you didn't modify .dll files, you're cosha.
You went on to a sv_pure server. Your not banned. Nor will you be banned.
Ok, thanks. :-D
Modifying any human-legible files in your game's filesystem won't trigger a ban, because that'd be silly. Dlls are not human-legible thus can't be accidentally edited without fucking things up (you have to decompile / inject.)
If you didn't modify .dll files, you're cosha.
It's kosher. :eng101: But in reply to OP, you should be fine. As Legend said, any of the sound scripts and whatnot won't get you banned, just the .dlls. You just joined an sv_pure server, don't worry about it.
files didn't match the server files =/= VAC banned

vac bans you for modifying the games's dlls or the exe file modifying the resources that they use are perfectly acceptable the kick from the server was probably coincidental, although I have heard stories of people re-uploading skins to fpsbanana with replacement dlls in them too. these can cause vac bans
skins/remodels wont get you vac banned. the worst i have happened to me was i went onto an sv_pure 1 server and my models and reskins didnt work. fix: exit tf2 and get back in sv_pure 2 will probably not let you in...
sv_pure 2 will probably not let you in...
sv_pure 2 will probably force tf2 to load original resources and glitchfuck some of them aka "enjoy your invisible sandwich and wireframe hat"
Yes, every time you join a server with custom content, everyone in there will get banned.
mp_usehwmmodels will solve those woes.
Does the old "record fix; stop" still work for that too?
Does the old "record fix; stop" still work for that too?
Isn't that just to fix pink and black?
It fixes incorrect team colors and critical electricity remaining after the end of the round too.
