Mann Co. Item Shop update fucking with steam connections?

It seems as if the update is causing everyone to lose connection to steam on TF2, while they are still connected to steam. It's really annoying because when you go to buy something it just gives you the middle finger, you need to open the game up at least 3 times to actually be able to open your backpack. Has anyone else been having this problem? It's really annoying, and if there is a way to fix it, do tell.

All you have to do to fix it is join a server. Then it's fine.
