I recorded a 9 minute and 37 second demo, did the startmovie thing and got all the frames in .tga files and the audio file. I did what the TF2Wiki said to do and used VirtualDub to covert them all into an avi.
But the avi file is all messed up.
It says it's 24 minutes and 45 seconds along even though the demo with some parts taken out is 8 minutes and 15 seconds, I can't skip around in it or the image will stay the same and the audio will change, it's also incredibly slow and the video doesn't match up with the audio.
I've even tried recording a test video and trying to make it work, host_framerate, limiting the FPS, nothing makes the audio match up to the video and it's always laggy and a lot longer than it should be.

I've also googled, I found nothing that helps.
What framerate did you record at using host_framerate?
You set the framerate in virtualdub to the same as the host_framerate in game. The audio should now match up.

I used host_framerate 30, and I didn't know you could even change the framerate in Virtualdub. Going to go try that...

It's still off sync a bit, but it's better. I'll just mess around with the fps settings in TF2/Virtualdub.
I laughed at the title.
And suddenly so did I.
I tried it again with some different settings on an 8 second demo and it worked perfectly, I also tried startmovie namehere avi but the video kept stopping every few seconds.
Did it stop completely and crash? Or did it just lag? If the video lags a lot, then that's perfectly fine, it means its working, just go get a sammich or something while it converts, don't altab, and just wait for it to be done. Then load it up in a video editor that supports AVI.
The avi file it saved stopped every couple of seconds, not while I was recording it. I know it'll lag when it's making the images/avi file.

Tried it the image way with another demo, little bit off sync but it's fine. Now I just need to start the actual demo I want to convert sometime.

I looked at the title for about 5 seconds, then *BAM*, I laugh.
:ohdear:
You should record directly as avi instead of tga+audio.

Yeah...
I got it to work fine anyway, I'm going to upload the video while I sleep. Uploading a 353MB file at 30KB/s is going to take a while.
Weren't Valve going to improve the demo system soon? I'm fed up of waiting for it.
This is why I always just record the demo with Fraps. I've never been able to get the audio to sync with the video using Source recorder, and the finished avi is always choppy.
