[Request + WIP] Toy Factory themed map + need a layout.

Hey everyone.
I know it's kinda lame to start a thread without content but before starting to work on this thing I'd like to have a good map layout to build the map around.
The theme would be a typical toy factory with rails and toy coming out of weird machinery. The main goal of this project is too finish a cool map before the VALVe's event start so people can enjoy it on Christmass themed map.
You may doubt about what I'm able to do so if that's the case, check out my other works :

Etc.
Also if you're more confident with hammer than paper or drawing, you can build a layout out of brush too.
I hope some of you will have some idea for it/the will to. :3
Well the first step is establishing game mode...
If you think you have enough time to do it fast, I suggest payload because it's a community favorite and it would allow you to get creative with the cart, plus you don't have to worry about symmetry which is awesome when you're detail minded, plus it's longer which, again, is awesome because you can work more ideas in.
However, if you're scrunched for time (which honestly it looks like you probably are if you want to make Christmas, Mann Manor took months) then I'd suggest a simple King of the Hill, it's small yet still fun.
I'd say TC
I'd say TC
nooooo
not unless you want him to be working on it until next year's christmas
Well I like the payload gamemode more than any other. Also if I know where I'm going I can work faster than normal. (The layout help a lot here) Peoples who like to draw could make concept of some room too that would be awesome.
Of course I can't assure it can be done in time. But again if I can do it I'll try to let skyrim for a while and work on this :3
There are a lot of community-made CP, CTF, and PL maps and zero community TC maps that made it into the official TF2 map list.
There is a definite reason. It's the hardest mode to make and nobody even plays the one we have.
I agree with Venezuelan, I think a payload map would be a good choice depending on how long you will be working on the map for(work commitments etc). The cart could be full of presents, so you can explore that creatively. As for the map itself, are you thinking about a santa's toy factory themed map or one similar to the ant style(so everything is huge except the player)?
No it would be normal size.
I definitely think payload. Having trains around the factory moving presents about.
and the payload cart is a small train with present filled bombs.
It's a good disguise!
A think a Sleigh payload would work with perhaps the bomb inside the present bag.

Present filled bombs?

Sounds cool.
Make a team of people trying to deliver presents to an orphanage, while the other team tries to stop them.
Pl game mode with one team delivering a bomb to the toy factory?
Hell I could sketch out some props if you want to, getting ideas already :v:

Well if you have ideas feel free to share. I'll be sure to add conceptors to the credits.
The layout is the most important at the moment tho.
Tried TF2maps.net yet?
A good layout requires planning and testing.
Although coming up with a basic layout shouldnt be that hard.
Single map pl like pl_badwater its going to be I presume?
Why not a Generator style like GG but with attack/defence cp style?
If you need someone for decals, textures or concepts arts, add me on Steam :3
I added you Nassimo. I'll will give a try on TF2maps.net Frying Dutchman, thanks for the advice !
Started to work on a themed payload cart :

Do you love Bioshock and steampunk? In that case I love you
Yes I do.
Yes I do.
All my love. Fan-love, of course
How's the development on this?

Not so much yet. Optimized the payload. Trying to get some idea for the layout etc.
I just posted on TF2 map too, hope I will get something :3

Mh, since I wouldn't re-use the brushes of pl_frontier (even if I re-use the layout). Should I ask the original creator permission?
Edit :
Who did pl_frontier already ? :v:
Here's an idea tied to some of the lore established last year:
Escorting a train filled with small children to Antarctica to be enslaved by Old Nick. And it's just a giant bag with arms and legs hanging out because they've all been piled in there. Maybe there'll be bulges in it that move occasionally. And they are getting escorted down the road to the docks of southern Australia (night map, perhaps?), where the payload stops at the ship that takes them to Antarctica.
Or perhaps BLU is pushing a payload full of weapons and gifts to Old Nick's mansion at the South Pole, and RED is trying to stop them, and the final capture area is the foyer of the mansion. And along the way, you're navigating through glaciers and small huts, etc. OR perhaps the mansion is instead a creepy abandoned research station, which Old Nick just refers to as a mansion because... well, he's a bit senile after living for 172 years, right? (1788 to 1960)
Source for locations, etc:
On December 18th, 1788, less than a year after the first settlers colonized Australia, an old cutthroat named Nicolas Crowder arrived on a boat with some other new settlers, took one look at the heat and privations, said "screw this," commandeered the boat, and set course on a one-man voyage to conquer the South Pole. Legend tells that he lives there still.
Every December 18th, "Old Nick" returns down under to find out if Australia's children have been naughty or nice. The nice children are given the greatest gift of all -- they are not abducted along with the naughty ones and carted off to the South Pole.
For the next twelve months, the naughty children make toys to Old Nick's exacting specifications. Then, on December 17th, the presents are gift-wrapped, placed in a sleigh, and driven to Old Nick's mansion, where he opens them. Naturally, given the sheer number of hats and weapons Old Nick receives, there are bound to be duplicates -- and every December 18th, he posts them online, selling them at prices so low that he's practically giving them away.
Ok so my ideas are kind of weird anyway. But do you have any ideas for what you'd want in your map? I.E. pile of presents to maneuver around, etc? You said you were considering machinery and conveyor belts, so perhaps there's a part where the payload falls onto one moving in the opposite direction, so the payload moves slower? I'm just throwing out whatever I come up with.

Magny Carface
I had an idea last year, but I didn't start with anything cuz I'm no mapper.
It would be a control point map with 3 cps.
The BLU team would first spawn on a Ice cave (invaded by submarine or something like that) and they would be trying to get control of the RED team TOY FACTORY on North Pole.
The first point would be in the top of an iceberg with a lot of watter and ice blocks around it.
The second one would be in the center of an Elf vilage with many small houses and a big christmas tree.
The last one would be on inside the factory, with a lot of machines wrapping presents and stuff.
I even tought on making an empty room that could be seen troght a glass window with a Desk holding the List of naughty and nice kids written on it. (spy name would be crosses over)
Feel free to use any of those ideas for the map.

Everyone is naughty except for zoidberg.
Alright so the post on TF2Maps was useful, I'm making a collaboration with YM to remake one of his map (haste) with a Christmass theme.
YM is the guy who made hoodoo and Mann Manor.
Just giving out the information, content will certainly come along this month. (And hopefully we finish it in time).
