No, you're connected to a non-VAC protected server. Valve have no way of finding out that you use the idler.

I don't really think Valve would make it so you'd get banned for using it, they'd have to ban hundreds of thousands of accounts.

Someone posted a letter from robin on the Steam forums earlier where he stated that while it wasn't an intended use of game mechanics, it was not classified as exploiting. As I said in the other thread, it doesn't make you do anything else then sit afk in a server for longer periods of time.

And no, im not a troll. I was on the TF2 forums, which is full of "omg i w4nt teh hatz now" and whenever one came up, I would give them the link to download the idler.

Holy fuck if it was bannable someone would've said they got banned by now, thousands of people use the damn thing every day.

Seriously.. if they didn't want us to sit and idle all day long they shouldn't have added a retarded drop system. Why not encourage people to play the class and after X kills / Backstabs / SG kills / Dominations give us a hat...

They will never ban you. 10000 players which constantly change use it every day and if they were banned you can expect a huge complaint against valve. While they do consider it an exploit they only do so to not promote it.

If they didn't ban people for using unlock exploits in the past, they're not going to start now. You know the people who used that exe to instantly unlock weapons instead of working for achievements? They lost their unlockables for a whole week. OOOOOOOHHHHHHH. The idler takes time just like actual playing, rather than just unlocking every item immediately, and besides, if the idler disappeared, people could still go into any server and sit afk.

Ugh, some one messaged one of the people on steam support, they said "You will not be VAC banned for using any sort of idler" Thread over.

So this is what lack of sleep and/or being exhausted do, causes me to shitpost and slip panic-inducing rumors into my posts (which are snipped now). *prepares for box storm* What I posted is mainly speculation, the idler treads in a gray area in which hardly anyone knows what the consequences might be. I mainly over-reacted because most of the idler threads on the steam forums were being locked (and the Idler V2 thread on FP got gassed) and forum banhammers were flying so I assumed that Valve took this as an exploit. But then I found out it was volunteer mods locking them, not Valve employees. My new stance on the idler: use it with caution. You cannot be VAC banned for using the idler.
