My steam ticket is as follows, though no reply as of yet and I'd like to fix it as soon as possible.
[quote]I installed shugo's better item icons pack for tf2, as well as some other visual modifications, only to find when I loaded up my game I could not see any of the polycount items I had been using! They had also all been unequipped. I tried deleting the files I had just installed to no effect, all my polycount items remain mysteriously gone. TF2Items.com and TF2Stats.net both claim my items remain in my backpack, but I cannot see, equip, or use them, including my bought items.
As you can imagine this is most distressing. Included is a screenshot of my backpack's first page as it stands now, with the areas where items should be hilighted. Rather crappily. The most distressing part of it all is that when I attempted to see if they were still there by hilighting them in the crafting screen, instead of making the usual thunking sound, they just made the empty spot sound upon doubleclicking. As I spent a better part of my old unlocks creating these items, it is understandable for me to want them back.

Forgot to add the spot next to my gunboats in which my rocket jumper is stored on the first page.
I'd include other pages of my backpack but i hardly think they're relevant, as I didn't delete the items, and according to all sources except my game, they are still there. I just don't know how to reverse the process, and I don't know how a visual modification could unequip all my newer items.
If needed, the equipped missing weapons from the first page were:
Shortstop
Holy Mackerel
Rocket jumper
Powerjack
Gloves of Running Urgently

Apparently in addition it crashes to desktop sans-error if I attempt to join a server.
I verified my game files with no incident, it just seems my game has reverted to an older version or something.

This was the mod in question, and perhaps the only one which could have affected my backpack.

I can't help but think I've done something very stupid, or that there must be a stupid solution, so if anyone has any idea, let me know.
wait for Shugo to update the Backpack icons

I hardly think that would help my tf2 stop from crashing, and I hardly think the oudated version of his mod would have unequipped all my weapons, as I can play in offline mode, but the items cease to exist, even when they were previously equipped.

Besides which I quickly removed all the files added by shugo's item icon pack, to no effect except the apparent jumbling of all the leftover items.
I verified game files to a positive result, and have no clue what to do from here on out.
Valve has no obligation to fix something done by a third party mod silly. Might aswell axe your TF folder.

i'm highly doubt that items disappeared because of Shugo's icons. if there's no icon's in tf folder, they will be just used from gcf's
it may have to do with the outdated TF_English.txt that is in the pack though, that's why I said to wait for the update

I'm trying to prevent this as well as I can, as it was in the replacing of my tf folder and testing of binds, modelfixes and such that this happened.
My mod does not and can not do this. Your problem lies with some other cause.

After looking over your symptoms, it sounds to me like you have an outdated items_game.txt or tf_english.txt file installed. Delete your resource and scripts folders.

Only one related to the backpack, it was my best guess, but if it cannot be at least partly the cause I am clueless here. It was only in the short period between when I'd installed it and when I'd tested my weaponswitch binds that I noticed it, perhaps 10 minutes. All other mods I'd installed were either visual fixes(admittedly mostly by you) and a couple custom sounds.
It occurs to me that I hadn't used the download off fpsbanana, but rather the one in the emporium archives.

Yessir.
Ah good, that worked. Thanks Shugo, you're a lifesaver.

You might have downloaded a test version of my Community Improvement Pack, which is currently incompatible with the Mann-Conomy Update. I'd advise you to delete the materials, models, resource, and scripts folders. I'm sorry if you had any other mods installed, but the test pack was intended to be used on a 'clean' game anyway with instructions not to install it after the Polycount Update.

Oh I see. Well thank you for helping me fix it regardless. At least the majority of my icons are pointing the right way ;)
