Are they trying to sell us free hats for money? Will TF2 become anohter "Free" game? Are they out of their mind? :byodood: What do you think ?
...April Fools?
This was before April 1st. And I don't think Valve would be stupid enough to make a game that bases its profit on microtransactions.
That's really old, it's just Valve making the promo for the new Steamworks, for the other games company...
Need a box for that?
Maybe clocks instead, cause Valve could really implent payable hats. 1$ for a hat, I'm pretty sure every TF2 players will probably pay at least for one hat. 1$ * arround 20.000 players (and maybe more) = $$$$$ !!!
I'd rather idle than give them any of my money for a bunch of pixels.
But you paid for the game, right?
And you're paying electricity... 1$ for the hat you love, and voila, it's done.
And you're paying electricity... 1$ for the hat you love, and voila, it's done.
But that removes the rarity of hats. As in, there will be entirely no point for hats anymore.
Where did they say this was for TF2?
I don't see the problem If dumbfucks want to waste money on hats it's their problem not mine
I'd rather idle than give them any of my money for a bunch of pixels.
I'm pretty sure they would disable idling if they added microtransactions.
But that removes the rarity of hats. As in, there will be entirely no point for hats anymore.
They had a point? Where? They purely are decoration, what are you talking about.
I don't see the problem If dumbfucks want to waste money on hats it's their problem not mine
Hats, yes, but what about weapons? They effect gameplay.
Hats, yes, but what about weapons? They effect gameplay.
Not really since all the weapons are so common it makes next to no differance Now something like that in MW2 or BC2 then there's a problem
What the hell are you thinking OP, the page talks how game developers can add in-game items on Steam for small payments easily, not a single word of TF2.
Killing Floor is an example for anyone who wants to know; 2 packs, just player models.
But that removes the rarity of hats. As in, there will be entirely no point for hats anymore.
i'm pretty sure the point of hats is to make you look a little bit different and not just to have something rare in the game
How about Adding hats you could only pay for? And keep the hats you can find.
How about Adding hats you could only pay for? And keep some the hats you can find.
It would split community even more.
It would split community even more.
Split the community? Over something as silly as hats? Sure, some people would group up and kill only the guys with the purchasable hats, but thats it. Everyone would forget about it in 2 weeks. Just like the Halos.

Hats are meant to be rare. I see no value in them if you just buy them.
You must remember [del]the TF2 community[/del] the SteamPowered Users Forums act like a bunch of idiotic spoiled brats
:silent:
This has nothing to do with tf2
I'd buy hats, due to the fact I only want 3 more, just to complete a set of my 1 favorite for each class. I'm no greedy bastard I must say, unlike those guys with 30-50 hats you see on tf2items. Then I wouldn't Idle anymore. If this is truly what it means, Valve is trying to make money and get rid of some of the idling problems at once. Smart move on their part.
Valve wont use this. but other companies will.
Remember the rage that happened when Bill's Hat came out? Imagine that x 1,000,000. Valve knows that something like this added into their business model would fuck up the fanbase. Relax, it won't happen. All this is is an advertisement so developers would buy their engine and use their platform.
