• Tf2 low config?
    13 replies, posted
Right now my main pc is screwed up, so in the meantime I have to use my laptop. It's pretty shitty for gaming though, and I get like 15-20 fps on lowest settings in Tf2. Is there a low config script thing that will let me play the game without low fps? I tried one already but then the game wouldn't launch. Specs (It's a compaq 610 laptop) Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T5870 (2.00 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB) 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4330 discrete graphics with 256 MB (this is obviously the bottleneck) 320GB 5400rpm hard drive All drivers are up to date.
I'm currently running quantum's one on my old laptop. http://www.dieall.de/da2008/index.php?mod=files&action=view&where=31 It looks like shit, but it works pretty well. [img_thumb]http://www.dieall.de/uploads/HighFPS_1.jpg[/img_thumb] There's also m0re's one. http://m0re.nocrits.com/index.php?site=files&cat=1
What FPS do you get with those?
Around 25-35 with the shittiest laptop you can hope for. Not even 1 gb of RAM, shitty video card, etc.
I have one. It's basically two high-FPS configs that I 'sewed' together. I take no credit for either of them. I have only used this a few times to see just how high my FPS can get. It really only reached about 290 or so (and yes, fps_max was set to at least 600) @ dxlevel 80.
echo echo Executing High FPS config... So many of these threads every week, there IS a search tool for a reason.
-dxlevel 79/80/81 I use 81. Med-Med-High gfx.
If you use dxlevel 80/81 then you should turn off bumpmap. mat_bumpmap 0 You can't do that with dxlevel 90+ because the lighting on models will be fucked. But you can do that with dxlevel 80/81 and the performance gain is quite satisfactory. I also suggest: mat_forcehardwaresync 0 mat_reducefillrate 1 mat_specular 0
And then there's this thread. You might not even have to resort to a high-FPS config. :v: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=913370
The problem with my laptop is that Source games crash if I use DX8 but not 9, it's madness Gmod will crash if a NPC dies in DX8, TF2 will not even go past the MOTD what is dxlevel 79 ? I've heard of 80 / 81 but never of 79 :v:
DirectX version 7.9 of course

I'm pretty sure dxlevel 79 doesn't exist
