• Team Fortress uses Matte Colors right?

I'm making some high res skins ( Who hasn't) And I don't want to stray from the original color set. Matte looks closest to the vtf colors so I'm wondering if that's the color set Team fortress characters/ Weapons use.
Just stick to these colors and only used baked on shadows. And there really isn't much you can do in the sense of increased detail, you could probably just make everything sharper.
It isn't matte, but more of an oil painting style.
Keep this in mind.
The art style for the game was inspired by J. C. Leyendecker, as well as Dean Cornwell and Norman Rockwell.[7] Their distinctive styles of strong silhouettes and shading to draw attention to specific details were adapted in order to make the models distinct, with a focus on making the characters' team, class and current weapon easily identifiable.
When you do make them make kritzkreig first, long overdue.

Plus I can't skin for shit. I mean look at this guy [img_thumb]http://dog.fpsbanana.com/ss/skins/66964.jpg[/img_thumb]
There's a bit more detail to it than just matte colors. The weapons have brush strokes and wear & tear. The characters have a kind of film grain effect to them and their faces are fairly detailed and painted-looking. Inspect each texture closely before you try your hand at re-skinning them. There's more than meets the eye. [editline]10:49PM[/editline]
My Dear Boy I'd have to become a better skinner first. That and I can't find it's vtf :shobon:. The actual Kritzkrieg attachment texture is strewn about the Medi Gun's texture. Also, I don't really like 90SK's skins. They may be high-res and look shiny, but they don't fit TF2 at all.

Well I guess I could make some High res Textures ( Again who hasn't) for everything and still have it fit tf2. To the tutorial mobile. ( Anyone have any erm tutorials :shobon:)

Good luck on your high res skins! (and trust me there's not enough)
Items use paint brush style color variation and characters have a small noise over everything.
Team Fortress's big look comes from its shading technique. An otherwise unimpressive skin can be made spectacular with the right phong and lightwarp tweaking.
